it's normal for the firm my realtor is from. Hammond RE is a bit more "boutique" than "mass-produced sale items" to compare to the retail world. my realtor is also extended family (which I won't do again) and it was actually part of the contract I signed that she would attend all showings unless there was something else already booked - in this case, the open house.
I'm not holding onto some standard of perfection in a buyer, just looking for a little common courtesy as they paw through my shit while checking out the house they *might* want to buy. I don't think leaving the place in the same condition they found it is an unreasonable expectation. and if they are checking out the complex as a whole (I've since heard from my realtor that they also looked at the other listing in the next building) then they can pull their car out of my driveway so I can feel like my place is no longer off-limits.
and as I said earlier - I have no problem giving people all the time they need.......just tell me so I don't come back when I expect you to be gone.

Whenever I sold a house, I usually came home to find lights on, doors open to closets, etc. My parents did also and it drove them crazy.
Yes, if they looked at another listing, they should have moved the car from your driveway.

Years ago, when I was selling my condo (on a lockbox), I came home one evening after work and found another realtor and her clients sitting on my sofa and petting my cats. They all looked pretty sheepish and said that they'd been distracted by the cats and lost track of time. (My cats seemed delighted by the attention!)

Did they buy the condo?

The couple didn't ... but the realtor did! Now the question is, how many cats did the realtor want to stay with the condo?

Parents realtor called today and had me print and take a paper to them to sign and mail to him. They are hoping to close on Friday, but said not to tell my parents. Wonder why?

Is it possible that your parents agent is being thoughtful and considerate? If your parents aren't aware of the upcoming closing date, there won't be another incident of having to tell them it was canceled.
We are closing on our lot tomorrow morning, I believe construction is scheduled to start sometime next week on our new house. This wild ride is almost over.
Sending good thoughts for your parents.

Thank you for the good thoughts. Yes that is the reason the realtor didn't doesn't want parents to know house may close on Friday. He knows how upset they were when it didn't happen on June 14. I had to print and take another paper over this morning. He wanted this one returned by priority mail. Said he doesn't think there will be more, but if there are, will need to be overnighted back. Parents were very happy about the priority mail. Even they knew this means it's getting closer. Talked to DS tonight. She said she would drive papers down if need be.

When DH and I sold our first home to upgrade, the realtor we had was really good. She actually would go into each room with the client(s) to point out features, upgrades, etc. etc. and if they opened closets/cupboards, she would make sure everything was "back to normal" once they'd had their browse (if they left any closet, etc open). She'd also turn off the lights when leaving the room (if they'd been turned on - which is something every realtor should do, if they're good (IMO).
And we never had the realtor OR clients parking in the driveway (we had a front-drive double attached garage). They always parked on the street - as they should.

Years ago we listed our home for sale. A 2 story wood siding house with all of the bedrooms upstairs. We had small children so it was a pain to leave for each showing but we did. One night we had a realtor bring over a couple around 7:00. We went out to the car and I forgot something and had to go back into the house. The realtor (not ours) was in the kitchen with the couple showing them pics of houses for sale. She apparently was using our house as a meeting place. Now if they wanted a ranch house, or a house with a bedroom downstairs, or a brick house, they should have never scheduled a showing of our house. I went back out to the car and told DH what was going on. We sat at the top of the road for a few minutes (dead end street) and they left shortly afterwards. REALLY MADE ME MAD. School night. Disrupted our evening.

taz157 , When is your house closing ?
Scheduled for July 12th, but could be as late as July 19th. The lender asked for an extension in case they needed extra time. They are planning to have everything reafy in time for the 12th, but would like the extra if needed.

Best of luck to those that have closings scheduled. Ours had a couple of hiccups but when we received that check.....oh the joy!
We closed on our lot Wednesday, good grief the builders salesman is a dufus!!! The builder the same afternoon, cleared our lot, rebar was delivered and the building permit was up.
Yesterday was spent at LazyBoy furniture buying what we needed, today we pick up the mailbox keys. Our departure from current house is next Wednesday.

The last contingency has been satisfied for our house sell. They had another place to sell in CA and it sold yesterday! We should be closing on or around July 12th or as late as the 19th!

I hope so, Sugi, I really do. I'm going out of town for the holiday long weekend, hopefully y'all can keep the good mojo w/St Anthony (I think?) going for me while I'm away. I'm going to let my realtor know that she can show it as many times as she likes all weekend, and that I can absolutely sign an offer to accept and fax it back to her.

It's Saint Joseph for selling houses. And Saint Jude for hopeless causes. I think MissR and myself should start saying prayers to both.
