Snort. 3 pages is long? Geez, I spent too much time on the Anon. thread and the parenting thread!

Chiver - are your kitchen cabinets 2 different colors - or was that a lighting issue? I love the color of your couch and chairs - I don't think I would ever have thought of buying any furniture in that color, but it looks really good in the room. Also, I think I'm depressed now. My house is never going to be that minimal.

Giggle. It's a lighting issue. I asked about it on the other thread. She's not including those pictures.

yeah, why they needed all the lights on to take those pics is beyond me. you can't see it, but there are two recessed lights over the "bar" counter and then a huge ugly fixture in the middle of the room that I never use. I only ever use the recessed lights. the huge ugly one is the one that caused the funky appearance of a color issue.

I've been totally out of it and completely useless all day. Besides feeling like I've been run over by a truck, I even pushed my recliner back this afternoon and snoozed for awhile. I'm just exhausted, both mentally and physically. I tried to quilt this afternoon and finally tossed the whole thing into a drawer...I'm thinking I either need to alter it to make the pattern easier or just forget for awhile. This isn't house sale related, but if you've never known a quilter, this is what we do...this is a Quilt of Valor done to send to an wounder warrior (my DH is a disabled Viet Nam vet). This is what happens when my brain is actually working. We now return you to our regularly scheduled forum thread.

Love, love the quilt.
Chiver if you didn't have such a SOB for a neighbor and I had the money and citizenship I would buy your place. SUPER CUTE.

Chiver, your home looks AWESOME! No clutter, & nicely decorated. (You don't have to disclose the crazy neighbor, right?) You should be able to sell your place in no time. Blonde Granny, I LOVE your quilt. Beautiful work, and for a good cause, too.

blonde granny, that quilt is just beautiful! Sugi, thank you! busymom, nope! and given my immediate plans (Cape cottage and an apt near work, when the dust settles) I am actually being completely honest when I say that I am looking for the flexibility that accompanies an apt, given that my job isn't as secure as it was a few years ago. I don't have any immediate worries thankfully....but if I'm not tied to a house, I'm a lot more likely to look for opportunities in different locations. oh, and my house doesn't always look like that....I promise. I am absolutely a super-organized Virgo and all, but all of my closets are hiding things that were taken out for the pics. the garage has some of it, too. I hope nobody wants to check out all the walk-in closets on Sunday. there are a couple that you really can't walk into right now.

Chiver, your place looks really nice! Makes me realize how much stuff I will need to pack up in a few short years. My folks went up to stay with my grandmother today (my day is tomorrow) and my aunt packed up stuff that DD left there when she moved out (DD had been living with my aunt and grandmother while finishing college). They brought home a car full of stuff, and apparently I will have a car full of stuff to bring home tomorrow. And I thought we had brought enough crap home already. She and I went through her stuff in her room and donated/trashed a bunch of stuff, and I put things in all kinds of nooks and crannies. Now I don't have any idea where all this new stuff is going to go. AND, DS will be bringing his stuff from college home in about 10 days and drop all his stuff while he's gone doing Marine stuff all summer. I just don't have enough storage in this house. Of course, one day they will take all of their stuff away, but it drives me crazy while it's in my house.
Blonde Granny, I love your quilt! I wish I could do stuff like that, but I don't have the patience for it. What a great quilt to bless someone with.
Good luck all of you with selling your houses. I've been on the house sales in the couple of places I'm thinking of relocating to in a few years after my retirement. I keep telling myself I need to stop, because it's still six years away.

But, I think it looks TOO empty. Just a thought...I would definitely add a few more homey touches and decorative items. It looks a bit sterile to me. After looking at those pics, I feel like I need to be on Hoarders

Blonde Granny- my mom is an avid quilter, used to own a quilt shop, but now that she's retired she's doing so much more quilting. I have, oh, about a million quilts. I did not inherit the crafty gene...lol...but I will enjoy the fruits of hers!

Chiver-love the pics. The red is very current. I liked the blue bedroom too.
Blond Granny the quilt is beautiful
Pat...if you'r worried about DH, hire a moving co. Last time we moved DH and his mother cancelled the movers I set up. If I had rescheduled them to come abt 2 hours after DH was supposed to start moving stuff everyone would have been relieved. DH got stuck in the office and MIL and FIL did most of the work. I ignored her wining about DH not being there. That was why I tried to hire movers to begin with. He always gets last minute walk ins.

Such a cute place Chiver. How about you sell the SOB neighbor, use the money you get for him to pay of your mortgage and live happily ever after? Should be doable -> It is all in the marketing: just tell the buyer he will get the worst imaginable PITA to give to his worst enemy

2 comments - center the dining table under the light and drop the light a little bit. put a hand towel in the powder room.

And I thought the three small pictures over the sofa got "lost" on that big wall. It needs a big piece that is more eye catching and takes up more space.

The first thing I noticed was how high the pictures were above the sofa. I found it distracting, and instead of looking at the room size, my eyes were drawn toward the ceiling. I'd lower them to 6-10" above the sofa.

as far as the other suggestions, I hear y'all. my realtor seems to do what she wants (check out the other thread BG started, I had a little hissy fit on Monday about some flowers). if it gets the place sold, whatever. there actually WAS a towel in the ring when I left the house Monday morning. it's back in place now, and will be there Sunday. I can't drop the dining room light, my genius dad decided to actually cut the chain link instead of loop it when he installed it. I actually had a large eye-catching print on the wall in the dining room that they took down. it's going back up Sunday night after the open house. it's a calming print for me, a peaceful water scene. it's actually why I picked the canvases I did for the opposite wall. those are all water scenes too. the three small canvases do look lost in the photo. it actually isn't too bad in person. not sure why that is.

I'm still waiting for our photos. The agent said maybe Friday or Monday. It's raining today, so maybe the photog will work on them and we can get a preview. This waiting is making me nuts. Then this morning, my DH decided to cook sausage for his breakfast. ugh! working now to get the smell out of the house. Going to tell him to cook it all today OUTSIDE.

I'm surprised your realtor didn't have you empty them out. Overstuffed closets, even with as sparse as the rest of the house is, SCREAM "I don't have enough storage space" a big No-No when showing a house. Even if you have to rent a storage unit while your house is on the market, your closets should be open and spacious with about 50% open space.
