We're still on schedule for closing on June 18. Having the movers here on the 28, hotel is booked for 14 days while we wait for our apartment to be ready on the 11th. I've cried over the dumbest things, yesterday it was all about a small flower pot. No one ever said downsizing was easy!!!!! Giving up what we perceive as the holy grail of treasures takes more courage then I have sometimes.
Can't wait to see your pictures/

Well, pictures were taken today instead of yesterday. We needed an extra day. I've already received a call about a showing tomorrow afternoon. Who knows!?

That's great Taz, that a showing is already scheduled! Blonde Granny, I hope you're packing is continuing to go well. It is going well. There are a few pictures left to go. my printer & a couple of small TVs. The movers are scheduled for June 28,our son well be here on the 22nd to take the MB furniture, and we've given the living room furniture to a young couple here in town. We plan on coming back on the 29th to vacuum & steam mop the floors, and Stanley Steemer will be here to clean a spot left by a recliner on the bedroom carpet. This will be the last time we'll be in the house. Of course, this is all operating on the assumption this deal will close on the 18th @ 1pm. We are now down to 5 days and a wake-up.

Oh good, I love pictures, and the realtor did a great job for you!!!!
Are you in Florida? I see some palm tree items and a screened lanai. Hope your showing is a winner today. And unlike what I'm capable of doing, don't take comments of your house personally. LOL

Yes, I am in northeast Florida. We are moving to southeast Florida due to DH's job promotion. I'll try not to take the comments personally. I like to think I have a thick skin, but you never know.

We were supposed to have 4 showings yesterday, but 1 was rescheduled for today. There's another showing today and 1 on Saturday so far. However, we have gotten news on some of yesterday's showings. We received 2 offers! Both offers are over the asking price ($1K and $5K). We have countered the $1K-over offer, so we'll see what happens. With the $5-over offer, we are waiting to see how the other counter offer goes first. If the 1st offer accepts our counter, we'll turn down the 2nd offer. (FWIW, the money will be about the same in the end as the 1st offer doesn't want the washer, dryer or pool table while the 2nd offer does.)

The 1st offer didn't like our counter offer so they backed up. That's okay though as we've accepted the 2nd offer! Expected closing is July 12th; however, it's contingent on a home inspection and their prior house is expected to close at the end of June. I realized that alot can still happen, but I'm still .

Congrats Taz! Contingencies seem to be a necessary evil with real estate, but it sounds like it will all go well. BTW, your pics are beautiful! Is that a screen porch out back? I've never seen one that looked so open. And such a pretty view of the yard from there!

The contingencies that happened are what we expected anyway and as you said, they are a necessary evil with real estate. Thanks! Yes, the porch out back is screen-in. When we had cats, they could spend hours back there! When we originally purchased the house, we wanted to put a pool back there, but that never happened.

Thanks! I've had a little happy dance, but I understand anything is possible. I'll really be jumping for joy when the house is completely sold, keys have exchanged hands, and money is in the bank.

Congrats Taz.
My parents home was to close today. It didn't and won't for at least two weeks. Buyer's bank didn't do it's job and held up on letting anybody know the buyer owes $1500 in court costs that have to be paid before it can close. I'm told buyer is livid because bank learned this on June 1 and didn't tell him. He had money then, but not now. Was going to pay half today and second half on June 28. Parents don't know yet. Realtor wanted ME to tell them, but I said no way. He is going to tell them on Monday.
Parents were very upset yesterday when told it most likely wasn't going to close today, but probably by next Friday. Now it will be July.

Hey, I get to join you in the deal that likely won't close Tuesday as planned.
It seems as though OUR agent didn't tell us the truth about the original closing date for our buyers home in Texas. Instead of June 18th, the date was June 28......but they thought it would close much sooner (why I don't know). Now, the title company is Texas is supposedly backed up, which in turn puts ours back.
I told our agent yesterday that we wanted a signed extension on the contract closing date, dated AND signed by our buyer "today" meaning yesterday. Agent was in no hurry, said we could get around to that Monday. DH not so politely told him to "do your job, Steve". Well he did, buyers signed it and we will sign it this morning.
Then our agent told us he's leaving town for a 2 week vacation starting on the 22nd.
We have movers scheduled for June 28, prepaid hotel reservations for 2 weeks starting June 28, utilities on notice of cancellation, our builder expects us to close on our new home this upcoming week.
As of late yesterday afternoon, our agent still thought it will close next week. Needless to say, neither of us are a bit happy........

Ouch! Blonde Granny, I'd be telling the agent he doesn't get his vaca until the deal closes! (At least the agent I'll be using only takes trips during the real estate "slow" season.) Why do I get the feeling these problems happen, because companies hire "just enough" people to get the job done, never allowing for people getting sick or taking days off?

My biggest question: Why did our buyer and his agent write a contract for closing June 18 if the cash deal was dependent upon the closing of the buyers house that is scheduled to close June 28??
And everyone told us their house was closing June 18, they would close on ours the same day.
Someone is LYING that's why.
We have 90% of our stuff already in storage, have a corporate apartment rented starting July 11, our son is coming June 22 to get the MB furniture,,,he lives 7 hours away. Utilitys final reading etc have been done and OUR title company has already done ALL of the paperwork to close on our house June 18th. And let me add this, I'm not very good at talking my DH back from the ledge when he gets like he is right now.
