Do they have boarding schools for infants, or is that just called an orphanage
If you find one let me know if they take toddlers. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/tongue.png)

I know. It was a rough market, and I felt like I needed 2 years in the job, at least, so I wouldn't look like a job-hopper. Looking back, I would have handled a lot in my career differently. And 20 years from now, I might look back and wish I had done something different in 2013. But alas, it is what it is. [/span]
That is awfully philosophical for you Thyme......thinking about time.....
Apparently I'm the only one that got a song stuck in my head reading this. If I could stick Thyme in a bottle... ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/note.gif)
And Congrats Mid! ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/smiley.png)

I'm thinking the cost of diapers in school colors might be too expensive ... and little baby T-shirts with the school crest on them.

Mid! Congratulations! I think you're going to be a great Mom too. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/smiley.png) I saw a post of yours somewhere else recently, and for some reason I've been wondering ever since. LOL I have to go back and see what else I've missed since I skipped some pages and just came to the last one. I just had to say "Yay Mid" first.

Stop letting a bunch of random strangers online tell you what to do with your life.
If I came on here last week and said I was going to quit a six figure job with benefits, and my wife was currently making $25k a year on a temporary contract with no benefits, you don't honestly think there's a single person here who would have said go for it do you?
If you want to scale down from full to part time, do it. Or discuss it with your husband and decide to do it or not based on that conversation. You don't need this board's approval or validation.

Oh, and congrats Mid. I'm sure you'll make a great mom who's baby isn't a priority because you work and have a long commute.

I like MidJDJR.
Of course if they open a law office together in the future should it be MidJD and MidJDJr OR MidJD and MidJrJD?

Thank you all. And Dark, yes you have me pegged. But mostly I'm sorry (to Dark and everyone) for hijacking, it was rude of me and I wasn't thinking. Back on topic - UI might be worth a shot... If you quit and are denied working your 2 weeks (and not given severance) can you get UI for that period? He might be able to argue that they would have escorted him out after putting in notice because of the sensitivity of the info they deal with. $800 is better than nothing ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/smiley.png)

Oh I'm sure someone would.... When you wanted to buy that island so long ago didn't at least one person say go for it. It isn't much fun if we all talk you out of something before Loopy shows up.

As far as unicorns and rainbows in Dark's future, I can see him working his ass off for a business he believes in and has a financial stake in vs. withering away at his previous job, despite the huge paycheck. That doesn't mean that I think what he did was prudent or wise. I think that he should have given the courteous two-week notice, since now he's probably screwed himself out of unemployment, and should take a job at a university so that he can finish up his degree, which I think he will need down the road. Howver, what's done is done, and I think that he can ( make that will have to ) pull it off if he tries a business. The best choice for the Dark family would be if Dark takes a job plus starts a business with Loop on the side. That way, they'll have three incomes and hopefully, employer-subisdized health ins. But, that's my opinion. I don't respond to as many things as I used to because I'm busier, we are bringing our new rental house on line which is taking quite a bit of time and some major funding, and I am doing things besides sitting in front of the computer for so many hours. It's not good for me. It's not necessarily a crashing silence when I post something if nobody responds very much. I just believe they have other things to do that particular day. It doesn't hurt my feelings, and i don't usually think anyone is judging me. Posting on this forum is purely volunary. It leaves the poster open to others' opinions, which may not be what the OP wants to read. In other words, it's a risk vs reward behavior, depending on how thick the OP's skin happens to be ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/wink.png) .

I have no problem with people giving their opinions on something. I have no problem with tough love. I do think it is funny though that when a poster, who is notoriously known for bratty-childlike behavior, comes in and calls another poster bratty and childish. I didn't tell her not to post, I just pointed out how funny it was. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/smiley.png) Would I have quit like Dark did? Nope, I am too big of a chicken. I have in the past (quit a very hostile work environment in my 20's), but now at my age, I would not. I would have had a back up plan already in place. But I worry a lot about that kind of thing so just walking off a job isn't in my nature. Congratulations Mid on the MiniMid! How exciting.

You never know whether a decision in a moment of time is the right one or wrong one. This may be the best decision you will ever make -- who knows. Good luck finding something new to do whether it's finding another job or creating a business.

Starting a business now is a fantasy. They lack the capital and current cash flow to sustain them during the start up period with their current living expenses. The chance of landing any reasonably priced business loan is low. I would have a different opinion if this was a true follow your dreams moment, but it isn't. Not even close. Let me sum up the situation as I see it:
"F me? No, F you first"..
Grabs ball, heads for YM..

I'm not so sure. He did all the exit interviews etc. so it doesn't sound like he burned all his bridges. And it sounds like they were looking to get rid of him so I would be very surprised if the company "challenged his UI". How and why do companies do that anyway? It doesn't happen up here and I don't understand.

some times you have to do what you have to do, I at one time parked my company truck on the side of the road, called my boss and told him if he wanted the truck to come get it, i than locked the keys in side and walked off. that was 30 years ago and I am still alive and quite well off. good luck dark I am sure you will make it just fine.

Yes, I do realized from Dark's posts that he might have been laid off anyway. He's a smart cookie and tough critter and will survive just fine. Just the same, I'm glad I have my job at this point, even though I'm plotting my retirement. Good luck to Dark and Family.
Gambler, your story about parking the company's truck the side of the road gave me a giggle. Also I like your doggies in your avatar.
