I know I haven't kept up on this thread, but wanted to pop in and say I'm 3 pounds down! 1.4 to go and I'm back to where I was at sil's wedding in June. its terrifying how quick I can gain weight, but oh well. Once the new year comes I'm hoping to get back to a work out routine.

Hi Rae! Way to go on the loss! I've become a bit of an evangelist for it, but I swear anybody can have a workout routine with body-weight circuit training. I have a great app that I use - I tell it how much time I have and what equipment and it gives me exercises and kicks my butt!

Warning, evangelical craziness ahead! Technically two apps: Sworkit Pro - only body weight exercises, boot camp style for 30 seconds per. I use this for warmup and stretching or if I need a super-fast workout because it really puts you through the paces fast! It also has yoga stretching and a bunch of other stuff I haven't explored yet. Pocket Trainer - this is my real go-to ass-kicker. You tell it your level of experience with training (I selected beginner, which was the right answer.) You can select 20, 40 or 60 minutes workout, and then it gives you multiple sets of a couple exercises. By then end you've worked most of your body. Just when you think you're getting good at working out, it puts you into another "Phase" - so I am Beginner Phase 2 and it's still kicking my ass in week 6. This is the one where you select your equipment and it gives you workouts - so it gives me workouts incorporating my stability ball, hand weights, etc., but for a lot of exercises you just need you. It also has descriptions and video of the exercises if you don't know what they are . My only complaint is that is gives you too much recovery time between sets, but if I'm not feeling it I will just proceed with the next set or do some crunches. You know, for funzies. So yesterday's workout was: 3 sets of: Stability Ball Wall Squat with hand weights (15) Supine single leg hip extension (10 each leg) 1.5 min rest 3 sets of: Weighted tricep dips (15) Door pull-up (10) 1.5 min rest 3 sets of: Dumbell reverse-lunge (15 each leg) Squat cross lift (8 each side) 1.5 min rest 3 sets of: Alternating bar flye (10 each side) Stability ball crunch (20) 1.5 min rest In other news, I can't move anything but my fingers.

I'll look these up. Hopefully a change will get me back into the game! THANKS!!!

The most consecutive pushups i ever got to was 50. Though I did get to 100 with the crunches and nearly there with the squats. Pushups kill my wrists.

It's 90 total (15 per leg per set) and definitely not consecutive! I can't imagine doing 100 of anything consecutive!!!

This is the company that makes the one I have: pockettrainer.com/ I have the $1.99 version though, not the $12.99 version. Both are in the apple app store.

Oof, 45 minutes on the elliptical this morning. Not as intense as yesterday, since I was TIRED, but I kept plugging along. Glad tomorrow is a day off, even though it's because I have an early appt at the pain clinic to tell them Plan C is a bust. Not sure what a Plan D looks like

Sorry about your head, Kilroy. It's looking like my last procedure didn't take either, I'm still in a lot of pain on a lot of days. Fucking blows.
My day off was last night. Tonight back to swimming!

Hang in there, bsb! Pain sucks, and not being able to find a solution sucks. But we are stronger than the pain, right? Thanks for the encouragement, SG. It really does help.

Some days I am stronger than the pain. Some days narcotics are stronger than the pain. Some days neither I or the narcotics are stronger than the pain. As you know, those days suck.

Oh yeah, those days really, really suck. On the days when drugs help, I refuse to apologize for doing what works (I work with a lot of people who like to do scare stories about the evils of pain pills).

I'm here and I'm functional, if a little tired. Vs. not being here or not being functional. Anyone who hasn't ever really dealt with pain on an ongoing basis or has an M.D. can kiss the inflamed nerves in my back with their suggestions of aromatherapy and homeopathy or whatever.

I managed 35 minutes on the elliptical today, but probably undid it thanks to Christmas treats at the office (I know I could say no but it's really hard to do that gracefully). I did stand on the scale today, in less than perfect circumstances (after breakfast, coffee & workout) and it was down another half pound.
I know I need to start doing more than just the elliptical, and that's my goal for the new year.
