Kilroy- YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE!!!!! And I have enough problems with my head without them deciding to implant anything. All I can envision is a bug zapper inside my head....hooke dup to a nuclear power plant to get the point across....
Well, skippy- my detractor- now says his feelings are hurt and he is upset because I canned him. But, I'm asthmatic, it's not like I can run a 5K and have a convo anyway- duh! Mr. Bear on the other paw says I should wait since I don't know how long my surgery recovery will be this time. And Mr. Bear wins again....

mizbear, I don't know why people don't get that some of us don't exercise well with others, and don't want other people around. It is really hard to find someone who goes at the same pace you do, and that you want to listen to when your body is doing other stuff. I think exercise is a mind/body experience and I like listening to what's going on in my mind as well as with my body. When I exercise alone I get to think about all sorts of things. Sometimes I try to do some problem solving. Sometimes I like just listening to the music I've selected on Pandora (without someone commenting about better Pandora stations or whatever). Sometimes it's just not exercise; I have a friend who does more of a stroll than a walk, which throws off my pace. And when she brings her dog who is really sweet but not well trained on the leash, I get tripped up when the dog goes from one side of the path to the other and behind us and so on. She is unhappy that another friend and I walk without inviting her.
But I was lucky enough to find a friend who walks fast and hard, who can talk when I'm short of breath, and who is watching the same show on Netflix that I'm watching. We have some great discussions about work, kids, t.v., and life in general. It's really hard to find someone as well matched as we are.
If your detractor is someone who is worth it to you to try to smooth things over with, try explaining to him in a nice way why you'd rather exercise alone. If his being upset and hurt is something you consider to be *his* problem, just let it go. Pfft! Like that.

I am not on anything. The side effects looked worse than the symptoms. I do have hot flashes but nothing extreme or severe. I am not throwing the blankets off the bed in the middle of the night or waking up with drenched sheets. No aches or pains.
The weight I can't get off isn't a lot. Just find it hard to believe that 5 years ago, I could have fit into a pair of jeans that I now can no longer get over my hips.

serious- He's mad because I'm seeing success- without him.
Soooo, last night I tried on some clothes I haven't been able to literally wear in years. I got my size 6 capris on (which Iwill admit have a large amount of spandex) and got them fastened, but the size 8 jeans which have little or no spandex aren't quite there.
My mother was not happy....

Miz Bear. That's for making me laugh (which always helps), and for telling me I'm not a failure. You're not a failure, either, and anyone who's trying to get in your way needs to back off. Mr. Bear sounds like a keeper

I'm down a pound Bitch. I mean, I support your achievement! LOL, I'm up 3 from where I was last Wednesday. There was a lot of drinking and snacking. A lot. I did work out Wed and go swimming Thurs (2 mi), Fri (2mi), and Sun (1mi). Would have gone Saturday but DD popped a fever of 103 and wouldn't let go of me all day. At least after this debacle, DH is on board with being insanely healthy until Christmas. We have our workout schedules planned and everything. Here's to a spartan life making up for prior and future indescretions.

I had a friend visiting from the UK... My guess is that we usually only had 2 meals a day? But we were having brunch out and some dinners out (some in) and drinks (I did keep portions in check). but we did some walking and were pretty active. I feel crazy bloated that... and it is my T-O-M... so hey... maybe it is more? (i'm greedy! haha)
BSB- that is so awesome that your DH is on board. I wish mine would be. I feel like if I had a partner in all of this... I'd be motivated and more productive!

Well, by some miracle of science I am down another pound this week. I put on a dress I haven't worn in 3 years and got 20 compliments. It turns out there was a time I had a professional wardrobe and cared how I looked. Weird.
Only 32 more pounds to go until my goal weight... oy.
Also, I realized and accepted on some level that I just need to eat 1400 calories a day for the rest of my life, pretty much. Which is actually strangely freeing. Depressing, but freeing.

Kilroy - glad the pain clinic didn't boot you. I swear I must be lucky with my pain clinic. People here tell horrible stories of their pain clinics (clinics booting them, etc.), and I just can't relate, my clinic is great. Except they run late often, which pisses me off.
Huzzah on the 6 pounds! Hard fought and won! What is your weight loss goal?
Giving blood tomorrow and am supposed to swim a couple miles too. Except I feel like maybe I shouldn't after giving blood? We'll see, I guess.

My goal is to get back down to 125, which would be 12 pounds down from where I started. Holy cow, I'm half way there! (assuming this 6 pounds sticks). Can you believe I just realized that? My pain doc is really great; he listens to me and his guiding principle is, "it's your head, so your rules". He's not going to bully me into doing anything, although now I feel like I should at least consider the higher Botox concentration, since he thinks it would help. But, a) OW and b) even if it does work it's very temporary and c) I would have to miss work on a staff meeting day any time I needed to repeat the injections and my boss is already noticing that I've been missing a lot lately. So, Lyrica for 2 weeks it is and we'll see where it takes us.

How is everyone? Come on, I know I'm not the only one who is keeping on this despite the slow slide to the holidays! Minnesotagirl7, we haven't seen an update from you in a bit? sarcasticgirl, I know you're out there... mizbear, how goes the running? I had an up and down weekend. Didn't get to work out either day - back issues Saturday, then yesterday didn't end up having time. But did spend the whole day cleaning the house, so not like I was sitting around either. Sore today from the scrubbing and bending and folding. Saturday went to a friends' and ended up drinking a lot of wine and eating many delicious cheese and crackers and pizza. Then yesterday was sort of vaguely anorexic as I was so busy I just kept forgetting to eat? Oh well - cracked the 180's today!!! (189.8!!!) Even though I know I was dehydrated this morning and it's not going to stick - but still REALLY AWESOME to see! Anyway, hope everyone is well and out there doing awesome fun things. My mom just called and reminded me since I'm hosting Christmas this year I have to like, plan a menu and stuff. Oops.

I signed up for the 6:45a spinning class today, but got last minute tix to Rod Stewart at the Garden and was out way late. Won't make it to spinning, will make it to the gym, though. Did ten lengths of the pool yesterday, and the six pound loss seems to be sticking.
One bummer, the concert triggered a headache after three blissfully pain free days (picture pissed-off smiley here).

Sorry about the headache kilroy. How is 10 lengths compared to your starting? Keep at it!
Sarcastic - barbeque christmas sounds delicious, totally worth two pounds!
I had a couple drinks last night (well, 3-ish) and was down again this morning at 188. I know it's just dehydration, but it's nice to see those numbers on the scale when I haven't seen them since I got pregnant! Swam again last night and snuck a few minutes in the hot tub while DH shoveled the driveway at home. I'm a bad person, and I don't even care!

BSB- when I am not properly hydrated, I retain tons of water... so that's actually extra weight. So it may not be dehydration keeping you down!

Ten lengths of the pool is good for me at this point; I want to work up to 30.
Did 35 minutes on the elliptical today, and more imprtantly managed to get to and from the gym without landing on my butt (it's snowing and slippery out). I have an alumnae club event tonight and I'm not sure I want to go out again.

I've fallen off the wagon, so to speak, and put a couple lbs back on. I'm thinking about starting a paleo "cleanse" to get me to break some unhealthy eating cravings and habits. it will also help me not overindulge at holiday parties. I'll give it a few weeks and see where I'm at. looking forward to getting back on track.

I almost quit on the elliptical after 30 minutes because my head was killing me, but I stuck it out and did 45 minutes.

Holiday parties have me up 2 lbs since last week. My goal for the rest of the holidays is to maintain, then attack weight again in Jan.

hopped on the scale this morning, was surprised to find myself at 203. I haven't been eating a lot in volume, but Saturday night was a party and last night my hockey team went out to the pub after our game. neither night was very healthy... this morning, I woke up with a really sore throat. just talked to a colleague that backed up a step when I said that - that's how hers started last week. she ended up with a sinus infection, bronchitis, and something else (I already forgot) so I'm hoping that I can keep this shit contained. if not, that'll end up being another couple pounds lost. when I get sick like that, I just sleep. don't worry about eating, just sleep.
