My Mantra for 2013 ~ "If you are sick of starting over, then stop quitting"My last weigh in at the hospital I was 50.6 kgs which is 112lbs. So I'm less than 1 year ago. My BMI is 26.5 and I got that number at nhlbisupport.com/bmi/. Good luck everyone.

My goals: 1. Exercise. I can't say more because I'm not doing any now. But I'm signing up for swim lessons with the kids and water aerobics for me. Starts later in Jan. though. 2. Eat more greens. 3. Drink more water.
And once the booze is gone from the house, we're not buying more unless we're hosting.

Hi! Would you be willing to give a brief description of this group? I think I may want to join. The Savers has been great for me, if I could get that kind of encouragement and support with my diet then I'd be thrilled.

The Savers has been great for me, if I could get that kind of encouragement and support with my diet then I'd be thrilled. Ditto for me, too. I've been on some boards that are motivating and helpful and others that are just griping sessions. As I'm getting older I'm getting fluffier and I could use some real accountability.

I'm in. I'm too young to be this out of shape. Are we starting at 0 for weight and counting backwards as lose pounds? Or just doing numbers, or percentages? My BMI is 30.9, obese,

It's both a griping session and accountability session. Folks come and go. Everyone's welcome. ;D
In the past, we've had a couple of people do chart things but there hasn't been one in quite a long time.

We are an open support group for those trying to lose weight and get healthy- we are NOT for gym nazis who want to come in and tell everyone what they are doing wrong. Some of us are more athletic than others, some of us are more concerned about our health.
I want to make sure I don't end up like the rest of my family- plus I would like to get back into sports. PLus, I am diabetic, asthmatic,etc...
We do encourage folks to weigh in and be accountable- but we have no real rules other than to be nice.

My goals are to REALLY FOCUS on what needs to get done. I had a really good taste of what I could achieve in 2012. I'm ready to get my butt there. In 2013 I turn 50 years old and I think getting my health in check is a fantastic gift to myself.

Any accountability via goal setting? For example, the members of the NSD/CSD group set a monthly goal for how many NSD days they want to have? Is there anything like that?
Is there a smilies system?

I give out a smilie if someone posts a weight loss. Other than that we just give out encouragement. I was the cheerleader for 2012. If you have suggestions I'm willing to hear them.

I will say this- I am not a fan of the BMI- the BMI had me pegged as overweight as a runner in high school. Because I had a lot of muscle and boob. If you did an actually boby fat test though- I was too low on fat. I weighed 98 pounds when I graduated. And was around 5 feet tall. I was underweight for a medium build woman- I have a fairly small build- although I usually go with the medium build due to my bust size.
The doctor told me I need to get down to about 140- no less than 120. She is concerned about me losing too much because I have gotten taller since when I put this weight on.
Go figure.

I'd like to join in. I'd like to lose some weight, like 50 pounds because I'd like to start trying for another baby in about a year and I'd like to be in better shape than I was for the first one. Hoping the pregnancy would go better if I was in better shape. I don't know if I want to post my actual weight on here or is it okay if I post how many pounds I've lost?

Hey nuttin! I post my actual weight- but you don't have to. Like I said, we don't have really set rules other than to be nice. No gym nazis here. We want a nice supportive environment. The gang here ranges from the ones who need to maintain to those who need to lose a lot.

Ok, I'm in! I am going to pick a goal though, because I need to be held accountable.
I'll post my starting weight on the 1st of the year (ok maybe not my starting weight, but my total goal of pounds lost)

I'll be posting a weight and long term goal. Along with steps as I take them. My doctor also wants me to lose weight. We'll be doing testing in "spring 2013" so that gives me some time. ;D

Looking forward to a fresh start in 2013! I had a set of twins at the end of October, and gave myself a "free pass" until after the holidays. Seeing photos from Christmas has certainly been motivating. I'd gained 32lbs, then lost 22 with their birth, and then probably gained back 5-10 with the way I've been eating. But I got the all-clear to exercise again, and I just rejoined Weight Watchers yesterday, so I'm feeling good for the new year. Still not really changing my eating until January 2nd though. I will post my starting weight when I go to my first WW meeting. I'd guess I want to lose about 30 pounds, as I'd been trying to lose weight when I got preggo. So, lose baby weight and then some.
Other goals: 1. daily workouts of some kind 2. eat fruits and veggies 3. stop putting butter on my popcorn 4. meal plan

red- You may not be able to if you are BF- but Mrs. Dash is awesome on popcorn!
I have found an ingenious way to pay for my gym membership and cut calories- use my SB money to pay for the gym membership. It has an $89 one time fee (still lower than most places) and $29/month. The only thing even close is another local gym. It's $35/month I think and the joining fee is slightly higher. But that one has some other programs I am interested in that would be more helpful.

I would like to join I don't necessarily need to lose weight, but I definitely need to start exercising more. I stopped in Nov and can already see the weight shifting back to my tummy & thighs. Ughgh. And we are TTC #2 so I need to stay healthy for that too. We switched our eMeals plan to Paleo to try and get more healthy things into our diet. DD is now eating every meal with us and I want her to get well rounded meals and try new foods. I found a great thing for popcorn is cooking it in olive oil. Tastes almost like buttered popcorn Flavored oils are great too. There's a little shop near here that sells the flavored oils. Chili flavored oil is my favorite for popcorn - nice & spicy!

My gym went out of business on Sept 1st, right as school started so I've fluffed up a good 10 pounds. I'm a middle school teacher and stress eater, need I say more?
Dad and I will be going to Iceland and Norway this summer so I'd like to have the physical fitness and lung capacity to do a 16 km hike up an Icelandic volcano and the endurance to walk at about 5-10 km a day for 16 days. Oh, and I'd like to save my money for souvenirs and not have to buy bigger clothes before I go.
I'm himming and hawing about whether or not to get a dog. On the good side, he'd force me to go walking, on the bad side he's big and hairy and I'm allergic to them.

I use coconut oil when I make popcorn. And then I put butter and salt on it. So yummy. But when I make popcorn for the kids, they get no butter and no salt. Hypocrite, thy name is Wisconsin Beth... I don't do microwave popcorn so we don't eat a whole lot of it, maybe a couple of times a month.

My weakness is chocolate. And baked goods. And of course my work is right next to a bakery. So I will need to resist temptation constantly, but I'm keeping my goals in mind. They are worth more to me than a cookie.

I make pop secret homestyle popcorn (made with real butter, way better than usual microwave popcorn) and since getting preggo I've been adding butter on top of that. That's what i need to stop doing. I occasionally make homemade on the stove and I allow myself the butter then. I'm a purist with popcorn - salt and butter. I don't get adding other things to it. But that's just me. So a few more days where that extra butter is allowed and then I need to be done with it. Plus it'll save money from not buying as much butter haha.
