You'd best make darned sure those pot shots are aimed at the post, not the poster, beags. It's starting to sound like you're targeting the poster. That's not going to work out well.

Massachusetts, best schools in the country (thanks to MA taxpayers) which means best schools in North America. ------------- Lol! And yet, other countries in North America are kicking your butt in education. Sorry Welts but you are so wrong on that one. The best Universities in the world continue to be American with some English schools thrown in. UofT is ranked 21st and that is so bizarrely generous. I wouldn't rank any Canadian University in the top 50 in the world. I know something about this. Yay for #18...but we are way better than that. Joos sayin. www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/world-university-rankings/2012-13/world-ranking

Weltz, you have an established pattern of muddling up the rants and diatribes with facts and figures... which apparently interferes with the digestion of whatever tea it is that others are drinking. I hope they don't consider it subversive or anything.

There are many people that come here from other countries to attend our universities. Canada has one, compared to our how many? Go ahead and knock us out if you want. I know you love to.

I was about to apologize to everyone for having made this original statement. After seeing it quoted so many times I could have sworn that I had posted it with a smiley face following, meaning is was meant in a light hearted way. No having checked my original post, I did post it with a smiley. I sincerely hope that none of the follow on posts were taking it seriously. Personally I really like Canada and love visiting there. A few years ago I spent a lot of time in the Toronto area and have to tell you that I loved watching the nightly news. Actual stories about local people doing things that would never get reported in the US. The news is too serious here, someone has to die or pretty close too it to make the news in the States. In Canada you can watch the evening news without ever hearing about a death, horrific car accident, house burning to the ground and in the end you feel a bit better about the world. You keep doing your thing Canada.. (aaahhh just don't make fun of Massachusetts schools)

Hey Zipity. I like most Canadians also. I even met a few of them personally. Most them are pretty nice to the people here.
Then you have the few who like to insult us and whine when it comes back at them.
It really has nothing to do with your post, zipidy, as much as it has to do with an attitude.

Nobody knocked our universities, beags. Nobody.
Now, this is going to stop right here. This sounds like a children's playground! "My daddy is bigger than your daddy!" just doesn't work in an adult forum. Get over it. The US is a wonderful country. So is Canada. So are many countries to which I've travelled. Their citizens are very proud of them, just as we in the US are proud of our home.
Cut out the infantile penis-waving!

I think the post refers to the number of universities on the list linked to by beags. Thing is, the US is a much more populous country with more universities. That would need to be factored in.
