I'm probably a little guilty of this - I hardly ever take time off - but it's not because I think the office would fall apart, it's because I'm the only one who does my job and I know the pile of work that would be waiting for me upon my return! My only tattoo bias is against crappy ones. I'd rather see a well-shaded, high quality full-body tattoo than a teeny ankle or shoulder one that looks like it was done with a ballpoint pen and lighter. If you're going to have something on your body for the rest of your life, why would you want it to look like it was done in prison? So when I see a well-crafted tattoo - I think, "What a cool dude." When I see a shitty tattoo, I think, "I wonder if that person has hepatitis." That is my bias.

Taz... are you the one who said you had your thyroid checked? If not, maybe you should look into it as well... Nope, I never had my thyroid checked so you maybe confusing me with another posted. I just like to eat. The more sweets, the better. FWIW, my doctor did give me some paperwork to get some bloodwork done and I've been putting it off. Right now, I need to see if the paperwork is still good to use as it's been 8 months since it's been given to me.

I share that bias.
I also have a bias against facial tattoos. I have a tat. On my back, so I can cover it up with professional clothing. Why on God's green earth would someone put a tat on their face? Especially a badly done one?

Good question. I feel the same way about ear gauges... I guess it depends on the industry, but at least with a facial tattoo, you've pretty much given up 98% of your potential future employment opportunities. I am thankful for the tattoo artist who adamantly refused to give me a back-of-the-neck tattoo (I ended up with an upper back one). It would've been much harder to cover up. DH got his first tattoo in someone's kitchen. Luckily he got it covered up with a good one, or I might not have married him

Yes facial tattoos do bother me. I guess I find them very distracting. It isn't like you are talking to that person because you are just busy looking at the tattoo.

I used to know a girl in college with a really cute star tattoo on the inside of her wrist. Maybe it's my 1/3 life crisis talking, but I've really been thinking about getting one....

I agree with this, I guess my main problem is if you were planning on working a corporate job where the environment tends to be on the conservative side, why would you get a HUGE visible tattoo that takes up an entire limb? Its almost as bad as the ear gages, in that it kind of destroys your professional credibility unless you can hide it. If you have your entire arm sleeved up with ink, unless you wear long sleeve shirts all year round, its going to be noticeable and no one is going to take you seriously in the marketing meeting to raise revenue. KWIM?
I don't have anything against them personally, shit I would even do a half sleeve, but I have respect for my profession, and want to be taken seriously. Maybe thats why it annoys me so much! Getting a large, major tattoo would be career suicide in my company, and my profession.

I think that will change over time. The tattoo craze is about 10 years behind me. I wonder what percentage of 25 year olds have a tat now, and in 15-20 years when they are running the place, they probably won't think much of it. And it will become more and more acceptable.

that's because there is something wrong with these people! I was just having this conversation with someone in real life recently! We agreed that people who don't like animals are strange and not to be trusted. I get it if you can't have one because it doesn't fit into your lifestyle, but actively disliking the little buggers makes you weird. But that's not a bias. That's a fact. Mine are my kids. ;D

;D I would choose them too (if I had any). So stop trying to send me yours or I'll stop poking air holes in the box when I return them!! By the way - I included boxes of candy bars for their return trip this time. In case you want to leave before they arrive.

I do like cats and medium sized dogs. DD has a German shepherd, of all things, and although it's a big weenie, he's still BIG and I don't like being around him much at all. Yes, even though I CLAIM to DF ALL the time that I don't like his rotten cat, I'm ordering diapers for the little shit.

Did you check with the vet or is this your diabolical plan?

Diapering a cat causes major health issues to the person trying to put the diaper on the damn cat! LMAO!!! There is that too. Maybe it's her DF's diabolical plan. Hey Zib, have you had any requested physicals lately for a life insurance policy? ;D <<Puts up huge sign saying no more orders or returns accepted at this address>>

I have a neck tattoo. And longish hair. I forget it's even there until I put my hair in a bun and someone notices it. I totally agree with the bad tattoo bias. I know a good number of people with amazing sleeves and I am totally jealous of their awesome tattoos. But my Mom has, in my opinion, the shittiest tattoos and I find them rather embarrassing. Good tattoos = awesome person I want to know. Bad tattoos = trashy. Obviously not true all the time, but still. I don't want to know people who have Yosemite Sam on their calf.

;D. Maybe this is tennessers way of getting rid of me! Seriously though, it's been ordered. The cat is spraying and it's diapers until he stops or him screaming in the downstairs bathroom forever!

Hiya sis! My mom's aren't badly done, they're just... random. And in random spots. I like a theme and some symmetry

I find it curious and interesting that there is now a "Bad Tat" and a "Good Tat" category of people! LOL Citizens United Against Bad Tats!

I may have some bias on that as well that i previously haven't thought about. I do kind of find it strange for guys to have really highly colored tattoos. Seems like more of a girly girl thing to me.

I have a crazy bias against guys who drive Dodge Chargers/Chrystler 300's...mostly because in the past 6 years I've know him, my ex has had had 4-5. So I automatically equate those cars owners with the douchecanoery of my ex (esp if they have rims).
I also have a bias against against guys in their 50/60's who drive the Corvette's from the 70/80's; I think it screams mid-life crisis.

Okay here's another one of mine that's probably going to get me flamed: I generally assume people who don't like animals have something inherently wrong with them. Is it ok if I don't like them because I'm allergic to them? I mean, there's plenty wrong with me aside from that so you're still right.

People who are late and waste my time. Now, I am not talking about a friend being late meeting me for dinner. I am talking about patients showing up over a half hour late expecting me to see them and make me late for my next patient. Or the shuttle driver showing up 25 minutes late (two of them in the same day) when I had a flight to catch.

My BFF's DH LOVE LOVE LOVES puppies and kitties but can't be anywhere near them, or even close to someone who's been holding one or he starts to have a severe reaction. He settles for coming over for outdoor barbecues at our house and playing with the kitties through the windows.

I have a tattoo one: women with huge ass tattoos. I don't like them, well done or not. I do agree on the "stupid tattoos" bias too, my 20 year old cousin has a huge tattoo of Optimus Prime on his calf. WTF? Are you still 7? And, for you southern accent=ignorant folks; believe me, Yankee accents are equated with pushy, rude and a general better than you attitude by lots of us in the south. Most aren't (I have met my share that are since I deal with the public) but it's how it strikes me. And if you have a nasal accent, please don't talk to me. It literally hurts my ears.
