Damn, Ok, seems you're blessed with one of the secret decoder rings. Could you possibly translate the following for the benefit of us all?

frankq I wonder how many people are buying EXC based on MSN MONEY's dividend report of $2.10 which is 5.81% even though it was cut by about 45% back in late Jan. or early Feb.
ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF FLEECING!

frankq I wonder how many people are buying EXC based on MSN MONEY's dividend report of $2.10 which is 5.81% even though it was cut by about 45% back in late Jan. or early Feb. ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF FLEECING! After checking this: www.dividend.com/dividend-stocks/utilities/diversified-utilities/exc-exelon-corp/Technically...according to the dividend history above (and below) , EXC is still paying the $2.10 dividend as of the last pay date. A cut was announced, but up to now has not happened. The dividend cut, if and when it happens, will be reflected in the yield calculation (and the price) at that time. If MSN has incorrectly listed stock info, it is not the fault or the responsibility of the company in question. Remember, THE MARKET determines the stock's value. Now, keep reading young Grasshopper.... $0.525 | 2/14/2013 | 2/19/2013 | 3/8/2013 | 2/6/2013 | Yes | Regular | $0.525 | 11/13/2012 | 11/15/2012 | 12/10/2012 | 10/22/2012 | Yes | Regular | $0.525 | 8/13/2012 | 8/15/2012 | 9/10/2012 | 7/25/2012 | Yes | Regular | $0.14575 | 3/13/2012 | 3/9/2012 | 4/11/2012 | 1/24/2012 | Yes | Regular |
By the way, the last entry is missing. The dividend was paid out by two separate companies as a result of the Constellation merger. Constellation made up the difference between the .14575 and the .525. Judging by today's action, plenty of people bought EXC. How is anyone getting fleeced? So, if a company has to reduce it's dividend it means that they must be screwing someone? Do you realize that even with the dividend cut, Exelon will still be paying 3%? Would you actually buy a stock without checking at least it's current fundamentals? Has Exelon hid anything related to the probability of cutting it's dividend? To put that in perspective, Coca Cola pays 2.79%, Exxon pays 2.6%. Microsoft pays 3% (even after losing $1.20 or so today). 10 yr. Treasury Note 2%. That could be why people are still buying EXC. Smart money will buy EXC on weakness, somewhere around 10% below it's current price would be a good place to start picking away in my book. Let me know what else I can help you with. (Disclaimer: I haven't owned EXC since early 2012 but would buy it back at the right price)

Board of directors of EXC announced dividend of 52.5 cents payable March 8 to holders of record Feb 19, 2013.
At the same time they announced the new dividend rate. So for the last 54 days the MSN stated dividend is misleading, if not illegal.
You had to own the stock on Feb 16 to receive the stated dividend listed by MSN.
Guess this is the only way to rope the SHEEPLE in.

Whatever you say........take it up with MSN.......let me know how MSN is profiting off of that. I answered your question as to why people are buying. They already know what's going on. That's why the stock isn't anywhere near it's highs.
Meanwhile....us SHEEPLE are making a killing.......Guess you didn't get the math....

There were some none operating losses that brought the profits down for 2012. Dividends are $2.10.. Looks covered to me. What did I miss BiMetalAuPt I do think DUK's dividend is better covered but I did not see a problem. bimetalaupt The EXC board of directors at the same meeting in Feb set the dividend that anyone purchasing the stock after Feb 16 will receive at $1.32 per year. Not $2.10.

From stock holders report.. also if you add the numbers up I cam up with $2.85 for 2012(post merger)...or $4.16 for 2011 (pre-merger) non-GAAP basis.. I thought that was clear..Sorry..Me Bad..There should see about $200 Million cost savings from the Merger. I quoted GAAP earnings.... The estimate are from yahoo.. I got $2.85 for the four quarters...BiMetalAuPt ( 0.85+00.61+0.77+0.64) = $2.85) Again these are non-GAAP Numbers!!! Financial PerformanceOur GAAP earnings were $1.42 per diluted share in 2012, compared to $3.75 in 2011. On an operating (non-GAAP) basis, our earnings were $2.85 per diluted share, compared to $4.16 in 2011. 2012 earnings cannot be directly compared to 2011earnings due to the addition of Constellation and BGE to Exelon’s financial results in March of 2012. However, the overall decrease in non-GAAP operating earnings reflects a year driven by challenging power prices and lower earned ROE at ComEd, only partially offset by post-merger synergies and operational excellence. The decrease inOn an operating (non-GAAP) basis, our earnings were $2.85 per diluted share, compared to $4.16 in 2011. 2012 earnings cannot be directly compared to 2011 GAAP earnings reflects a number of merger-related charges, including the re-valuation of certain non-cash assets, the sale of Maryland Clean Coal, and recording certain other merger commitments. In addition, the increased number of shares post-merger impacted both GAAP and non-GAAP earnings. We are experiencing the most difficult pricing environment the company has faced since market deregulation in 1997, and our stock price remains correlated to natural gas prices as well as overall economic conditions. Exelon’s share price on December 31, 2012, was $29.74, down 31 percent from (pre-merger) Exelon’s 2011 year-end share price of $43.37. Both natural gas and power prices are at or near 10-year lows. 2012 day-ahead prices in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) market dropped 45 percent from 2011, and PJM West prices fell more than 20 percent from the prior year. 2011-12 was the warmest winter on record, and load growth for our utilities remained generally flat due to a slow economic recovery. All of these forces negatively affected our stock price in 2012. you asked a broker, and they gave that information? i find that hard to believe or did you just check site...which everyone STILL has what they have paid....not what will BE PAID gdgyva, Was it clear about GAAP vs Non-GAAP accounting.. Dividends are covered with $2.85 reported income for 2012..( Non-GAAP).. Looks clear to me. BiMetalAuPt i dont think any of that is the issue i think the point from texas is he believes all sites should SHOW what the new dividend will be, not what they have been paying i have never seen that....only after an actual NEW dividend is declared and payable, do the numbers change as far as dividend/yield on the sites and all brokers if ASKED would give the information out.....it is not a state secret

They increased the dividend in Q2 as part of the merger deal.. I do not see a problem with that. EXC has paid $.525 quarter from Oct 25,2011.. There was a small dividend paid to holders of both in March 2012.. EXC holders got the five dividends that equalled the four dividends of 0.525 each quarter... pr_20111025_EXC_StubDividendThe Board of Directors of Exelon Corporation declared a regular quarterly dividend of $0.525 per share on Exelon’s common stock.October 25, 2011|newsroom

I went throught my burn bag to get the exact figure for the next EXC dividend.
It is .31 cents per quarter or $1.24 per year which based on the closing price of $36.18 0n April 11, 2013 is a yield of 3.427%.
The 2nd quarter dividend was set at the same board of directors meeting as the first quarter dividend.
History of the company aside sales pitches should be based on what the buyer can expect to receive in compensation, not what the former owner received, when said compensation has been made public.
The board of directors could of course change the dividend if they wish.

I believe a search engine and a brokers web sit is a sales pitch to the novice investor.
I personally verify anything either tells me.
But I have found the Schwab brokers to be of very little help in the past.

Then it's a non issue. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

ADD UP LINE 0.1458 (4/11/2012) AND LINE 0.3793 (6/8/2012) = $0.5251 AND 4x0.525 = $2.100 PAID IN 2012...this information came direct from the firm and NASDAQ DOES THIS NOT AGREE WITH YOUR MATH!!! bimetal
he is having issues with the fact that msn/google/yahoo are listing the OLD dividend amount of $ 2.10 per share
the board met in February, and they will be reducing it to $ 1.24 going forward
but until the new amount is actually approved and payable, the sites still list the old $ 2.10 per share
has nothing to do with historical payouts....

gdgva
We are on the same page.
My original question was how much these facts have effected the stock price, since it is up 21.7% from its lows?
I understand no one knows for sure.

gdgva We are on the same page. My original question was how much these facts have effected the stock price, since it is up 21.7% from its lows? I understand no one knows for sure. Texas DUK and EXC both are consolidators.. With Mass they both have gained a following. My best est is EXC will cut about $200 million a year out of the administration of both.. Or about the same as DUK did. My nuimber one power firm was TXU that was bought out and is no longer listed. Many on this board think of power and gas as replacement for bonds.. SE is also in this class as it was Part of DUK. Thank-you for some interesting thoughts.. I still am looking for dividend reductions.. Like EE the lower dividend means more growth. BiMetalAuPt
