He's 6. He misses our dog that died about 2 years ago. I want one too. Yes, I know I'll be taking care of the dog, and I'm fine with it.
DH doesn't want one.
Do I just bring one home and tell him to suck it, or do I want until DS wears him down.

You tell him that he does not control you and that you will buy a dog if you want! Then go and purchase the dog. Tell him if he doesn't like it he is free to leave.

Let DS wear him down, then it won't be your fault And keep reminding DS about it. And you can keep telling DH that you want one. You'll wear him down.

Why is DH opposed to a dog? Can that opposition be overcome without wearing down? Just curious . . .

Don't get a dog unless he's on board. What you need to do is get him to realize how freaking awesome dogs are. Start taking DS to dog events in the area and make DH go look at shelters with you.

He had dogs as a kid, as did I, and we had a dog together before we had kids. He got her for me. He also got me a cat, which is another story, and I don't really like cats.

Just don't buy a teacup poodle. Boys and men don't like walking teacup poodles.

We had to put our dog to sleep this summer. DD has been asking for a dog. DH has agreed with me to wait awhile. I am really opposed to a dog right now, and I would be beyond pissed if he brought one home anyways. He and his new dog would be looking for a new place to live together.

Get two Labradoodles. Problems solved. I have a Lab, and I love her to bits. But she sheds like a mofo. Personally I'd still get a lab, but if the hair is a big deal a labradoodle could be a decent compromise. I'd feel dumb saying "labradoodle" though.

We put out lab to sleep this summer also. I told DH that I didnt want another dog for a while. In our case he wants one but really it would be my responsibility mainly. I would be pretty pissed if he just brought one home. I just feel tired out from the dogs. This is the first time in 25 years we can just go away without having to make arrangement for the dog. I don't miss vet appointment either. The last time I took the dog to the vet he was so upset when we got to the car his anal glands let loose on my cloth front passanger seat.

You could become a foster for your local shelter. Have DS and DH fall in love with a dog and then it will stay ;D.
Our IT person has the cutest dog I have seen. It is a cross between a corgi and a lab. It basically looks like a black lab with a corgi body. Too cute for words!!

I agree with almost40! Become a foster family . . . which leads to Foster Failure (and you keep the dog).
