Jesus did appear in His glorified body after the Resurrection. He did sit down and eat a dinner of fish and bread with the disciples so apparently we can eat in the afterlife? If we're going to be able to eat in the afterlife, then who will do the cooking? Who will clean the toilets? If our animal companions can go into the afterlife with us, we shouldn't be eating critters up there.

We may be vegetarians, i don't know. The Earth is going to restored to what God had originally intended. And, originally Adam was to tend crops. Animal skins and sacrifices and meat were not used until AFTER Adam and Eve had sinned. So, don't really have an answer for that one way or the other.

Well, if there's no bacon in the afterlife, a lot of people won't want to go there. They'll go to the other place, even if the bacon is extra-crispy.

So, are we going to have actual bodies of sorts or just be floating gaseuos blobs, no different than we are on this board? Well if you look at Revalations the 24 elders 1. Sit on thrones 2. Fall before the Lamb 3. Cast thier Crowns and 4. Cry holy holy holy so we see that they have 1. A Body 2. Legs and knees that must bend 3. Hands and arms that allow for grasping and tossing and 4. A voice. I do not believe that people will be a gasous blob if there is a true afterlife.

Well, Jesus actually sat and dined with his Apostles after the Resurrection in his glorified body, so i also believe we will have a body as well. Just wondered what everyone else thought.

I think all the beauty in this world will also be in heaven. Plus more, stuff we can't even imagine.

I agree with you SHOOB. If I remember correctly, you're a Catholic girl? Look into directionforourtimes dot com. Very interesting books there. Climbing the Mountain has info in it that may interest you.

I will check that out. Actually, i am not Catholic. I would be more of a Calvinistic Protestant.

Well, i think there are some fascinating points made by Calvin, John Wesley and others. I compare and contrast Calvinisn vs. Arminianism. I think they all have valid points.

I would agree that many good points have been made through the centuries by scholars. I'm not sure any one person can keep up with all of them. Example: I just finished reading an account of a woman (Gloria Polo) who was in the middle of being judged. It was rather frightful to the untrained eye. I was thinking about it and asked why is her accounting so different than what is in the book Climbing the Mountain. I should note here that neither of the authors are religious 'scholars'. My first thought was each woman lived a different life. One was self absorbed, the other is in love with her God. Someone posted there was a lack of evidence that Jesus walked this earth. There may be, but I'm under the impression that it is by faith that we grow close to God and His kingdom. I think we, each as an individual, are given numerous chances to -even at the brink of death- accept God as our father and creator. (No matter what name a person gives Him.) I think God's mercy is beyond our comprehension. Since we are a part of Him, he wants us back with Him for eternity. After reading the account of Gloria, I came away thinking there's no way I -or anyone- could be as perfect as she was saying. Then I realized it all came down to the way we treat each other. The most important thing being prayer, not acts. (Although acts with a pure heart are important.) This post may be a bit erratic. It's because I'm still trying to work out what all this means. Any honest input from any of you would be welcome.

I believe we all, being a part of God, are perfect. If I was going to resolutely believe in God then it would probably be this kind of conception.
