Ron Paul tried to run as a Libertarian, he realized it was more likely he could get the nomination as a Republican. Discriminating somebody because of age is just a poor excuse and not ethical at all. True. But you don't have to convince me, you have to convince the electorate. I believe in the value of mentoring. I don't really care what some guy in Texas says about my Congressman in Kentucky. (I don't even really care what he says about my Senator in Kentucky, despite the fact taht he raised him) Party leadership is about developingthe party. Endorsements should come from people relevant to the constituency in question. This one is my error. Half-assed was a stretch. More like 1/4. When he declined the GOP convention speech it was because he didn't "fully endorse" Romney. The best Johnson has gotten is a "call me undecided." Thats noble, and I agree with you in principle. But I think at some point you have to decide whether it is more important that a thing get done or that you be the one to do it.

This poll if it is representative of the country suggest Romney may pull off the upset victory.
He just needs to convince a small number of the Republican base not to waste their vote on someone other than the top two.
Obama already has all his ducks lined up in a row.

So it is OFFICIAL! Obama is the winner by 1 vote! Well within the margin of error, especially from our liberal brethren. I am shocked it was this close at a message board that is so politically onesided. Evidently member here say on thing and do another, much like in the real world It encourages me on what will happen in November

This board is actually quite diversified and this poll, from the political standpoint, serves to show that. All the whining about "they outnumber us ten-to-one" is so much hogwash. That's been obvious to those who are observant for quite some time. Of course, if your point is to have something to whine about, you might not have noticed.

I see your boy Johnson is on the ballot in 47 states, and fighting in court to get on the other three. What is the easiest way to re-elect our President? Vote for Johnson.

I doubt it hurt anybody all that much, Value Buy. I think most folks who have been paying attention could have predicted a very close vote based on posters/posts read. If someone is so sensitive they're actually going to be hurt by for whom someone else will vote ... well, the poor thing. Bless his/her heart!

Two major errors with this conclusion. - The poll is board-wide. The number of votes collected is easily 7 times as large as the number of P&M "regulars".
- The vote isn't weighted by number of posts per contributor. Many posters have contributed literally thousands of times as many posts as others. For example, if Molly voted Republican and you voted Democrat, you "cancel out" vote-wise, even though your P&M contributions outweigh Molly's tenfold or more.
In short, what the poll is quantifying is a very different beast from the political makeup of P&M. I'd bet that if we ran the Authoritarian ---> Libertarian, Conservative ---> Liberal 2D grid spectrum on each individual post in P&M (or alternatively, ran it on each poster and then weighted each poster by number of posts), we would end up with the distribution: 70% in the Libertarian/Liberal quadrant 15% in the Libertarian/Conservative quadrant 10% in the Authoritarian/Liberal quadrant 5% in the Authoritarian/Conservative quadrant Since most P&M posters have taken the test, I could theoretically calculate the actual percentages. The problem is that there's no reliable way to tell how many P&M posts each member has for weighting purposes.

Interesting results, overall. I was one of two people who chose "not voting by choice" ... good thing I didn't choose the wrong candidate and cause some sort of awful tie, huh? ;D

For what it's worth, I think we've really accomplished something with this forum. It's not often you find a political forum that is actually evenly balanced. One side tends to run the other side off. Kudos are due to Moonbeam for the way she runs this "joint". When you can play nice in the sandbox there's a better chance that varying ideas and opinions will be put forth for discussion. That's a good thing and this poll has shown me we've accomplished that.

I declined to cast a make-believe vote. I will cast a vote... that counts... in November. As for "playing in sandboxes"... what a horrible paradigm for the internet, or for a website.
Choosing infantile felines as the preferred model for behavior seems childish, at least to me.

You're always such a happy, happy person, Don. Now you're complaining about the generic childishness of anthropomorphized cats. Like Garfield. Do you hate Garfield too? Should P&M be a no-Garfield zone? Does seeing him gorge himself on lasagna in the Sunday funny pages remind you of our society's maddening ignorance of its excesses?

It is starting to look like the Mayor of Chicago (Rahm) could earn some blame if Obama loses - if he allows the unpopular Union to shut down the schools for over a month, and lets the strike spread and get out of control, the blame could easily spread to Obama.

molly, I noticed you comment to that effect before, that you weren't voting by choice. may I ask why not? I cannot, in good conscience, vote for any of the candidates ... for various reasons. So, as I did in the primary, I will vote for other races and propositions on the ballot, and I will leave blank the office of President. (I have heard too many people say things like "I am voting for the lesser of two evils" .... and I've just decided that I am more comfortable with "none of the above." If given the choice between horse poo and cow poo, I'd just rather skip the poo all together!)
