I figured we should do at least one of these to get a sampling of local sentiment. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Votes are kept anonymous. **select this option even if you're not 100% sure the candidate you plan on voting for will appear on the ticket

I'm weighing in to say that I'm ineligible. That is no barrier in the People's Socialist State of Illinois - where the Chicago Democratic Party Machine will be happy to enroll you and to send you an Absentee Ballot to the UK, all without proof of citizenship... ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) ;D The consensus is, in White-Bread-and-Mayonnaise collar-county suburban Chicagoland, that we have several dozen-thousand Illegal Aliens showing-up at the polls within the boundaries of the City of Chicago to vote Democrat on a regular basis, anyway, so... what's one more?... the more, the merrier... ;D And, of course, the Machine has a rule about Republican ballots: They throw 'em up at the ceiling, and those that stick to the ceiling get counted... ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ;D

So far, it looks like the Canadians are winning.

Of all the places where people claim voter fraud is rampant, Chicago is the one place where you wouldn't have to try very hard to convince me. ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png)

Virgil, your comment about split tickets confuses me. Do you want to know who we are voting for for president, or who else we are voting for?

Forget anonymous... Let's just post who we want, and we don't have to complain about how a poll is structured ( I assume there is a poll, can't see on my phone).
I'll start. Obama.

If I listed every third party candidate who could possibly appear on the ballot, we'd have 60 poll options with very few votes spread between them.
If you plan on voting for a third party candidate, post their name in the thread if you prefer. In fact, I encourage it.

I don't know if it's the same in the US, but in Canada, both a representative's name as well as the party he/she represents appear on the ballot.
I would have included names for third party candidates, but there simply isn't enough room.
For a question to "lead the answer", you're saying the poll is enticing participants to respond in a way that doesn't reflect their true views. The asymmetry might bias results by a fraction of a percent, which would be significant if millions of votes were being counted. We'll be lucky if we get 100 respondents for this poll.
Ask yourself: do you truly believe that somebody who comes in here thinking "I'm going to vote for third party candidate X." is going to look at the poll and say, "Oh dear, my candidate isn't listed by name. What possible option can I choose?"
If so, let's be glad these people aren't included in the poll. Come November, they'll be the same ones who wander off into the washroom while searching for the polling booths, figuring that pulling the flush handle for the urinal means they've cast their vote.

I tried your "unbiased" approach during the early Republican campaign season in August of last year. These were the results: notmsnmoney.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=politics&action=display&thread=12733Given the results, I wasn't going to dig up 10,000 names again for a grand total of four votes. Also, if you want some entertainment, see reply #10 "There are rumors on the so called Political blogs that Hillary may be drafted to challenge Obama ..that might be a possibility ??" I bet everybody 373 karma it wouldn't happen, and several people took me up on the bet. ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/tongue2.png) I never did collect on that.

I'll tell you what: if "third party candidate" winds up with even 10% of the total vote, I'll change my signature block to "Libertarians are not third-party candidates." for a week.
If, however, "third party candidate" winds up with less than 10% of the total vote, you must change your signature block to "Libertarians are third-party candidates." for a week.
Agreed?

Virgil, it's your Poll...you run it as how you want.. You have a spot for third party...most logical people know third party candidate this year is the former N Mexico Governor, Johnson... Libertarian candidate . Not sure there are any others beyond the seeming continuouse Mickey Mouse candidate..I see a third party vote , I am thinkin Johnson..if a supporter is put off by this , if it's my poll , I would be polite and say sorry..going to do it this way..they kept complaining, "Go Pound sand " comes to my mind...but thats me..

P&M Poster: Let's see. Who am I going to vote for. Who... am I... going to vote for... ... Obama... no. Romney... no. Johns... Johnson? Johnson! My word, I'd completely forgotten about him! But seeing his name again here, in print, on this list, where it says "Johnson" so clearly, I think I'll vote for him to be President in 60 days. Two clicks... and... Johnson it is. I've voted. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) I sure hope they have all the candidates' names in the same font on the ballot come November. Otherwise, how will I decide who to vote for? What if Obama's name is written in one of those culy-q fonts and Johnson's is just plain old sans serif!? Madness!

It would take a minute? To change the poll. Like the poster above said, people think 3rd party candidate most likely means a vote for Johnson. But you can't have the name there, for some reason. Run your poll however you like. and the mockery on the last post was pretty clever and quite funny. And tactical too. If you can't refute, mock.:) Cretinous, you're the only one complaining. Now, tell me ... why would anyone change a poll because one person complains? The other posters seem satisfied with things as they are, so to change it because just one poster has a problem with it? I wouldn't do it, either.
