Not really. She and a bunch did dye their hair at the last sleepover of senior year. All of them that godawful black. Took at least a year to fix it and a lot of money. She just was troubled. Her sperm donor didn't help. If he ever got involved, it was just to cause trouble and I didn't need any more of that. She started to hang with losers and her grades dropped. She was just a mess. I couldn't wait for her to graduate and leave home. We do better now. She is older and sees more clearly. She got fat then took diet pills to drop the weight in like two months. Just dumb stuff. I was having enough trouble with being a single parent with no family support and her brother just behaved and did well so it was easy to be proud of him and greatful. Sometimes children help out their parents when confronted with bad times and some times they add to the bad times. She added to it. There's a lot of stuff that I try very hard to forget but there are times when she says something that reminds me of those times. I'd like to forget them.

I hope I'm not the only one here who finds nothing attractive about the girl in the OP. She does have nice boobs I guess.
Maybe it's because I am frickin lame (conformist, etc) and lack in confidence but I don't get what's wrong with wanting to be attractive or at least well maintained.

Nobody said there was anything wrong withit? If that is what you want...just that there is nothing wrong with not wanting it either... I also think the op is attractive and well maintained... As others have said ou actually do have to work at that cut...

another thing about women and their looks. The hotter the woman, the more she cares (generally speaking of course...there are exceptions) women who "aren't so hot" ... well they generally don't care what they look like and a lot of times still think they look good. A statement like that could only come from a man.

My philosphy on stuff like this for a possible kid is nothing permanent until you're 18 (no piercings or tattoos). After that you're an adult and can do whatever you want. Hair grows back so sure, experiment away.

Except he's saying similar things to what some women have said.... The interesting thing about it too is while straight men say this, most of them don't take too much care of their appearance no matter what their looks are. I think its considered unmanly. Yet, male homosexuals on average are far more concerned about their looks than the average woman, even compared to most hot women. Its all beliefs. Not necessarily true, but sometimes I think men do that to shame women into doing more for their benefit not the woman's benefit. (Who doesn't enjoy better human scenery. )

"No pierced ears for a daughter?"
That would be the exception since pierced ears is sociall acceptable for the most part. But I wouldn't force a daughter to get pierced ears if she didn't want them.

Oooh! You mean only one hole per ear?? I ask because my brother's inlaws were aghast when I showed up with a pierced lip (and each of my ear's pierced once) and how it wasn't socially acceptable. My SIL (ooh, ex-SIL on Fri!) had 3 in each year. Apparently 6 man made holes in your head is more socially acceptable than 3.

A lip piercing is certainly less socially accepted than any number of ear piercings.

But people know that before they get their lip pierced.

Mmmm... lip piercings... Df had two. I used to love when he was deep in thought he'd move his upper lip over the lower and move the rings around. Sexy...

I'm sad that since I got mine pierced I haven't dated a guy with a pierced lip. If I'm visiting home and play absentmindedly with mine my mom yells at me.

I would keep ear piercings to a minimum. Again out of sight out of mind. If you don't live in my house then you do what you want. I have had my ears pierced and I believe 3 or 4 of my sisters have also but only one of us wears earrings.

So several people asked about maintenance. I've been keeping my own head shaved for just over a decade now. I'm pretty sure I can manage to do the same for a small patch of my daughters. If she wants layers or whatever done on the long hair, that'll happen at a salon, but shaving is easy.

Why not have fun with your hair? It's just hair. If you are the type of person who likes to try different things with your hair, then go for it. Who cares what other people like or if they like it or not. If it is YOUR hair, it is up to you how you want to wear it.

And if they had other ideas would it be worth the fight to force them to conform to your standards? Yes until they are 18 and living on their own I agree! I never let any of my kids have weird haircuts, tattoos, or piercings of any kind other than the girls having earrings. I honestly believe that that first impression means everything.

And it doesn't matter if they're younger? Like pre job, college application, and whatnot age?

Don't worry... Our odd looking non-'normal' kids will save yours from the zombie apocalypse...
'normal' insofar as it is even definable, is highly overrated....

But, I'm from the old school, and I find it kind of scary seeing green hair, holes as big as Texas in ones ears, and a completely white Gothic face scary as hell! Talk about zombies!
