Dark, the women shave their parts here in Italy. Many of the men do as well! Beth, I asked Mario and his lady last night about the socks. At first they looked at me like...WTF is she talking about socks for. So I asked again. They looked at each other and said "why would we care what color your socks are?" I said, "so you wouldn't get offended or upset over my socks if I wore 2 different colors?" They said, "No we might ask you if you were drunk and what you were drinking so we could share!" ;D

Figured as much but you never know. It could mean something really offensive culturally.

Yes to the hair, no to the nose ring. Hair grows back, so experiment away. Ditto! My Mom used to say 'hair aren't brain...will grow back'...however I would be hiding from her until that side will grow back again. I kind of like it on others...artsy people. On my own child - I would be quietly drinking waiting for 'it' to stop and her to be back to normal. My husband gives her hard time every day...fior streightening her hair. Because she has gorgeous curls! However she does what she does and I will show him this foto now and tell him this what she could had done!

Shaved the side of DD1's head, but didn't shave enough and will be expanding it higher to the 'bangs' line tomorrow. She debuted the haircut at my family brewfest, to much applause and compliments. Her proudest moment was when friends of mine said, "Hey, it's Skrillex!" And exclaimed they loved the cut. She looks awesome and I'm proud that I've raised a kid that is not only not afraid to be different, but knows that her parents, friends and family are cool with it too. Her grandmother said, "That looks great! I always said that the only thing to bother fighting about is clothes - do whatever you want with your hair!"

Okay, let me rephrase that to say I only know of four women who have admitted being lesbians as in they are obvious with their partners. I'm sure I know some that are passing as straight but aren't. None of the gay women and plenty of the straight women give a crap about their hair and it shows. So be it. Not my hair and I don't pay their bills. Nor am I involved in their lives except for simply knowing them by name and seeing them around various places and functions as in we say "hi" when we meet. Zib--it's less about the hair and more that I know that you weren't trying to be mean or offensive. It shocked me that it's normal for you to wonder who's dominant in a lesbian relationship. Neither women is trying to be a dude.

Wait, if my wife goes lesbian I have to go gay? How does that work? It's more entertaining that way! Now I have a new reason to be bummed we didn't make it to the brewfest, I would've liked to see that hair!

Stopped to see Papa today and daughter was eating her ice cream cone from the bottom. Papa said, only half playfully, 'she's really weird'... It being papa, my initial thought was to explain that the cone had started to get soggy... but daughter just flashed him a smile and sing-songy .. "Thank You" ...
lol...

I experimented with hair styles plenty growing up . . . even shocking my mother with a few. So I truly would not care what my kids came home with. Hair grows back.

Well, according to my hairdresser, he's the man in his relationship. I've met his partner and whether he was gay or straight, I couldn't stand him for 5 minutes. He is everything BOTH sexes would diss a woman for acting like. . I'm not sure, although DF says there's a huge gay community here, why my hairdresser doesn't find a nice partner, not some tantrum throwing prima donna, but since I have wondered that same thing about some of my hetero friends, it is what it is. I simply assumed, I'm sure incorrectly, that there was a dominant partner in a lesbian relationship as well. The one with the short butch looking haircut and dressed like a man but when they both are, I am confused. But it isn't my life or business, really, and I'm sure not going to ask them!
