The Boards are pretty slow today and you have time to continue to respond defensively to this thread, which makes the claim that there is no time to read the "Teacher" thread appear silly at best, petulant at worst.
In her defense, I'm sure it does take more work to read a thread, edit or delete inappropriate responses, and then repost it with a lock than it does to quickly respond to posts on another thread. You could do that while working - I'm sure most of us do. Reviewing/editing a thread is a much more active process than simply reading one.
I hope another mod can look over the thread eventually though. I don't think it will take long to edit it for appropriateness (because very few if any posts went against the CoC). I'd rather not see this fall by the wayside, and I will ask again eventually if it doesn't reappear. This thread in particular was very important. I want to see it back on the boards. That's all I want.

Agree with Opti and Gin. Locking it and keeping it there (with Opti's canned statement) would've helped avoid the big fight and the 3-4 resulting threads. I know that horse has left the barn, but IMO that would be the best way to handle these situations in the future. Not to mention that mods should probably take off their mod hats if they're going to get down and dirty in a debate. Kind of goes against the idea of mods as "neutral" (particularly when they have the ability to put on their mod hat and say "stop talking about this" as soon as they start losing their argument. Not to pick on WWBG, but I've seen him do that several times). If a thread needs to be moderated, IMO it should be from someone who isn't part of the debate. I very much agree with this.

I am okay with the moderation but I do think sometimes people who are "in charge" should be a bit less snarky. Over and over again The J has posted snarky posts after mine telling me things like "no one wants to hear my crap" or "of course you did/do/whatever" after I mention something. It is annoying and shouldn't happen, IMHO. When you agree to be a moderator you should agree to be above the snarky BS. Especially when you offer no other comment to me - ever. IMHO.

I am kind of surprised that so many people are OK with this completely arbitrary rules that are sometimes followed sometimes not, depending on the situation, mod and the way the wind blows. The idea that this board "belongs" to one/two/three people is pretty ridiculous. When it first started, there was a concern that it will die down due to lack of new members, new conversations, etc etc. Now, every few weeks we have this nonsense of a "meltdown" when one topic gets a whole people all hot and bothered and the next thing you know, threads get locked, moved, people leave, than huff and puff and come back... Are we in high school? ? Get over it, people. What is this BS with locking threads or deleting threads or mods or administrator or throwing their "rules' - although many people don't seem to really know what those rules are?? Let the threads take its natural course, let people be rude and obnoxious -WHO CARES? ? Do you have a little magic person walking behind you in life deleting and wiping out every stupid thing you say? If one poster crosses the line - he/she will have to deal with consequences of it - what is this constant "monitoring" for?? Lena If they did not do moderating, proboards would close us down based on their TOS.

"What I meant to say was when a thread is very clearly about something else. I can avoid threads that have titles like "let's talk about our favorite p**n!" but when a thread topic has NOTHING to do with sex and then turns into all-out graphic verbal foreplay for pages and pages, I find it annoying." Then I wan't a clause added to the CoC that we must not ever post anything that annoys ANYONE... Over-the-top "I want to put your CoC is my mouth" ( ) is not ok...but FB, it sounds like you have some major issues with anything even remotely sexual because of your history...you can't expect the entire world to stop finding humor in things because you don't like it...I hate to break it to you sweetie, but the world doesn't actually revolved around you! If there is no broken CoC get over it...if you don't like the turn of a thread, stop reading it. If a certain poster annoys you, put him on ignore.... Life is too short to get so annoyed over random internet people.

FB, it sounds like you have some major issues with anything even remotely sexual because of your history..Not even remotely true but thanks for telling me how I feel about this rather than actually reading what I've said on the subject Honestly, it has a lot less to do with how I feel personally and a lot more to do with the fact that I POST AT WORK, as do a lot of the rest of us. I would like to continue to be able to do that, and it's pretty damn difficult if every thread turns into a "who wants to fuck who with what implement" discussion. And for the last time, I have ONLY ever reported FOUR posts in my entire time on YM. Each of those posts included a clear CoC violation. They were NOT just annoying to me personally.

I don't believe she told you how you feel. You are twisting her words. She told you want it sounds like. She is summarizing the perception of you - not what you are feeling. Please, don't put words into other's mouths.

Well, I find it pretty baseless. Just because I don't like to read obscenities on completely unrelated threads WHILE I AM AT WORK, it "sounds like" I have issues with sex? You want to talk about putting words in people's mouths... and honestly, that's a pretty personal thing to suggest about someone on an open thread.
I did not share my story on the teacher thread for the sole purpose of giving people who have issues with me something to point at and say "look, she's so messed up about sex!" As I said on the thread, I have dealt with and moved past what happened.
Not wanting to read what basically amounts to p**n on completely unrelated threads (which again is a CoC violation) doesn't have to have anything to do with any "issues." Frankly, I'm a little surprised so many find it so unreasonable that I don't want to read sexual obscenities on a board supposedly about money.

Seriously people, how hard is it to follow the code of conduct, which btw, includes some stuff that could get proboards to shut us down completely. And the stuff FB is talking about is amoung those.

And if Beer & MU's exchange on "her" thread yesterday is what she's calling explicit then I find her definition of explicit a bit off.

If the thread had been moved with a comment of, we don't have time to deal with this right now, there have been too many complains, without the mods (especially Virgil) defending undefensible behavior, it would have died quickly.

Basically though, explicit comments are not just against the code of conduct but against proboards terms of service, which is why the mods are so quick to remove them. They are trying to keep us from being shut down.
