When this went down, MU tried to start making comments, the mods warned him once and then got annoyed (or more annoyed depending on how pissed they were at the rest of us), and just did deletes. I missed 99% of them, I was on the board, posting at time. Actually, I kinda impressed by the speed. Gin, this wasn't done by "the mods". It was done by one mod ... me. I warned MU not to continue to disrupt the thread with his off-topic comments. He chose to continue. Rather than warn again, I deleted the comments as they arose. In my opinion at the time, the thread was already volatile and getting more so. A serious subject was being discussed, and one with real merit for discussion. It wasn't the place for self-focused comments that didn't speak to the issue in any meaningful way, as I saw it. I'd already received complaints about the disruptions. I just want to make sure "the mods" as a whole aren't taking the hit for something I did because I felt it was the right thing to do at the time. I'd do the same thing now, for the record. I'll sign this one ... mmhmm, Administrator We are not talking about him comments in that particular thread. HIS. ENTIRE. POSTING. HISTORY. WAS. DELETED.

I have to agree with Bird, with certain posters, it always turns out being something sexual. it is annoying, and If I wanted to be in a chat room with a bunch of oversexed adults humping eachother's legs I am certain I could find one. I am here for the money/career/ money-relted discussions not a bunch of frat boy "That's what she said".. Have I ever reported it? No.. But I applaud when it gets addressed Just as I don't recall offering to stick things in people's orifices I also do not recall humping someone's legs.... It's more of a metaphoric humping

"I'm sorry, but because MU says something, that something does not become gospel. It is just as likely what I understand to be the reality is, indeed, the reality as it is MU's word is the reality. It is my understanding MU asked that his account be closed and all his posts be removed. " If you would see my later post, no poster has the ability to delete their own history....moon wanted him gone so he is gone... A poster who is quitting the board has the ability to ask a moderator to delete their posting history. Of course, that might go against an individual's biases against a moderator, so that couldn't possibly be the case..... As far as everyone who is calling for more moderators, gin started a thread asking who is willing to be a moderator. At the time I'm posting this, it's 61 posts long, and I believe that Mid is the only person who seriously volunteered (I would note that I would wholly support Mid becoming a mod). I applied

It was not most important part of the thread, though slight amusement and a bit impressed at speed, I'll give you that. Please don't take that as a complaint. Trust me, I am a lot more obvious when complaining (as might be evident in some other posts, lol). I didn't take it as a complaint, gin. I just wanted to be sure, if blame was to be cast it was cast in the right direction by whomever wished to do so. If I make a decision, it's mine and I own it. Don't want others having to hang out my wash.

I don't think anyone has called you (or CL) by name, Beer. Why do you assume the innuendo complaints are about (or involve) you?

Gin, this wasn't done by "the mods". It was done by one mod ... me. I warned MU not to continue to disrupt the thread with his off-topic comments. He chose to continue. Rather than warn again, I deleted the comments as they arose. In my opinion at the time, the thread was already volatile and getting more so. I understand (as I've said several times) he asked that his account be closed and his posts deleted. If someone wants their posts deleted, that's going to have to be done by an administrator, unless the individual wants to do it one post at a time ... Now, I have no direct knowledge of any of this. Neither do you, and neither does anyone posting on this thread at this time. I know only what I understand to have happened. If you have understood something different, we have different accounts of events. Point is, I don't know because I didn't do it. The same applies to anyone not directly involved.

And AGAIN, I never called her a cry baby or over reporter or whatever you want to call it. I asked what it is that she finds actually offensive, outside of the annoyance factor of the sidetracking of a thread, and to please point one out. Since it's been implied that it happens often I figured she could surely find one in the last page or two of threads. When this went down, MU tried to start making comments, the mods warned him once and then got annoyed (or more annoyed depending on how pissed they were at the rest of us), and just did deletes. I missed 99% of them, I was on the board, posting at time. Actually, I kinda impressed by the speed. I didn't ask anything about MU in what you quoted. He's always being disruptive, anyone with eyeballs knows that. I'm asking what seems to be a fairly simple question to me and that's for FB to clarify what the line is for her. Aside from the "someone doing something to someone with some implement" thing, which I can't recall seeing lately, I won't say ever. Lately at least things seem to be quite cleaned up. Call me stupid all you want (and I sure some of you think so), I just wanted to know what she finds too explicit. I don't actually disagree that some stuff is too much to be coming across from a work computer and my posts are much more PG than they were way back on that other board (MSN) but I am honestly trying to understand here.

I don't recall all the threads that went to dirty-birdie land, but there were quite a few. I recall an entire thread about MU's blow up doll, which came up very often. Apparantly, that is hilarious, so it is a recurring theme. I usually notice that the crowd has taken into desperate flirty/dirty talk, and exit, so I also don't recall which threads exactly, said what exactly. But, I, like Firebird (I think) don't find it very amusing. It really is sort of lame. I don't mind filth, but I like it to be a bit clever, and I find the sex-starved crowd here to be rather obvious.

I never said anyone called me by name, I am curious as to what I've asked (repeatedly) in other posts. I understand that most EE posters can be more than you YM posters want to read regularly, it's been made abundantly clear over and over and sometimes by people that bounce back and forth. What I'm trying to understand is where exactly you all find the line to be, because it seems to change depending on who is involved in the conversation.

I was pointing out, that personally I could not post some of his comments because the mods (mmmhmmm) were being too efficient. I would say, don't say stuff about hump someone or that everyone wants to get on MU. At least for me. But does it matter, he is gone?

I wish I could the crap out of several of the posters here. Unfortunately I have 58 more minutes to dwell on the fact that I annoy Thyme AT LEAST 82 different ways. I am sure she will find more before the day is over.

mmhmm,
Since there's been a lot of different debate regarding different posts and threads, and you are responding in a reasonable, rational way - which we all greatly appreciate - I'd like to clarify my last request.
In the Teacher/Student thread, WWBG went back and deleted his post #323. That deletion happened after another poster and I quoted it in subsequent posts. If WWBG had not been a mod, he certainly could have deleted his own post, but he could not have gone into my and the other post to delete the quote out of those posts as well. In other words, he would have had to live with, defend or apologize for his words just like everybody else. By changing our posts to remove his words, he abused the powers given to a mod and he did so to cover up his own mistakes.
I think we all make mistakes and would be willing to listen to the persuasive message that Virgil was so moved by. I am not asking for any condemnation or resolution other than correcting the error.
Please find the deleted post in the archives you refer to and replace it in the quote box in both post #326 and #327. Those were not WWBG's posts to edit and the edit was not done for CoC purposes. That will restore things to right and remove the last issue with a mod misusing his mod ability.
