"It's more that you can't seem to read what everyone else is writing. While MU could not delete it himself, he could certainly request that it be deleted. " yet mmhmmm said no mod deleted him...so which is it? stop using logic and reasoning here MT!!

So, do the rest of us get the benefit of doubt, along with the ability to tell you upfront our slant on the situation, and then you decide if we are out of line or not?
Moo!

I read his private explanation, went into the thread without preconceptions to determine if his explanation made sense. It did. That discovery in turn prompted my advocacy. He has subsequently thanked me for "getting what [he] was trying to say". I'm not talking through my hat. I know the deleted post. I know the full contents of the thread. I know what WWBG has said. He made a mistake. He acknowledged and apologized for the mistake. That's all he can do. If you read his explanation THEN went into the thread, you did go into it with preconceived notions.

Nice lie there Tax. He didn't try to offer any helpful advice. His sole intent was to derail the thread in a direction he wanted to take it. In other words, standard MU. You like to follow his style to some extent. I see a banning in your near future. how can my opinion be a lie?? nice lie for you too then Opti?? do you want me to predict your future for you?? :-) You know he didn't try to offer helpful advice. This is one of those black and white things. (No opinion necessary or needed.) Now if you were to say he was attempting humor, I suppose I could accept that as your opinion.... maybe...

I sure wouldn't want to remove a post and leave no trace. I much prefer being able to state why I'm removing a post and having the post remain with my comment and a date/time-stamp. Anytime one is dealing with human beings and the mistakes we all make, a paper trail (even a virtual paper trail) is a must, IMO.

I'm not going to speak for FB, but if she's reported 4 posts in 6 years, it's pretty likely that any offending comments/threads are buried somewhere around page 200 of EE (or lost with the rest of the old YM). I don't know that it's worth it to anyone to try to dig it up. And I think the back-and-forth innuendo and one-liners are annoying, too. At the VERY least it would be nice if it were confined to EE. I get pretty tired of reading YM/YMOT threads that degenerate into "hahaha, penis" by page 2. (THIS DOESN'T MEAN I'M REPORTING/HAVE REPORTED ANYONE FOR ANYTHING, SO DON'T JUMP ON ME FOR BEING THE CONTENT POLICE). And AGAIN, I never called her a cry baby or over reporter or whatever you want to call it. I asked what it is that she finds actually offensive, outside of the annoyance factor of the sidetracking of a thread, and to please point one out. Since it's been implied that it happens often I figured she could surely find one in the last page or two of threads.

Or remove himself as a mod, for some period of time. Also Virgil stopping his defense would help, a lot. Granted that does not have to do with WWBG, but it is helping with my anger levels towards him.

I missed 99% of them, I was on the board, posting at time. Actually, I kinda impressed by the speed.

Wow. I love threads where people get to dig their own "I'm a despicable human being" graves.
Than you to Susanb, Firebird, and milee (in particular) for educating people on how wrong our victim blaming culture is.

Unless someone has missed a step, we can see deleted posts, gin, if we deleted them. If we didn't delete them, we cannot see deleted posts. When we delete a post, we copy it and post it in a thread on another board that's made for that purpose. That way, if there are questions, or if it's decided the post should be reinstated, we have it copied. Thank you for the information. You're welcome.

...:::When we delete a post, we copy it and post it in a thread on another board that's made for that purpose. That way, if there are questions, or if it's decided the post should be reinstated, we have it copied. :::...
That's very handy indeed. So the logical conclusion is to dig up WWBG's post and restore it to its rightful position on the original thread. That way everyone can see for him/herself what was said and decide if there's any cause for alarm.
After all, if WWBG were just a regular poster, he wouldn't have been able to delete his post from the posts that quoted it and he would have had to live by, explain or apologize for his words just like the rest of us do. Yes, he would have been able to go back and delete his post, but since I and another poster had already quoted it, the words would have remained out there. It's only because he's a mod that he could go into my post and delete what I quoted, leaving us in the mess of having to rely on Virgil as impartial interpreter.
Now that the thread has been restored and we've put to rest the concern that it violated the CoC - which it didn't - the logical conclusion is to undo the last of the inappropriate manipulation by replacing WWBG's quote in the posts that quoted him. Then the only issue remaining is the original issue, not whether the mods are behaving inappropriately.
If WWBG has some wording that is so persuasive it convinced Virgil, let him post it in the public forum instead of assuming we'll just take Virgil's word for it.

I have to agree with Bird, with certain posters, it always turns out being something sexual.
it is annoying, and If I wanted to be in a chat room with a bunch of oversexed adults humping eachother's legs I am certain I could find one.
I am here for the money/career/ money-relted discussions not a bunch of frat boy "That's what she said"..
Have I ever reported it? No..
But I applaud when it gets addressed

I warned MU not to continue to disrupt the thread with his off-topic comments. He chose to continue. Rather than warn again, I deleted the comments as they arose. In my opinion at the time, the thread was already volatile and getting more so. A serious subject was being discussed, and one with real merit for discussion. It wasn't the place for self-focused comments that didn't speak to the issue in any meaningful way, as I saw it. I'd already received complaints about the disruptions. I just want to make sure "the mods" as a whole aren't taking the hit for something I did because I felt it was the right thing to do at the time. I'd do the same thing now, for the record. I'll sign this one ... mmhmm, Administrator

If you report it, you get a reputation for being prude, and not wanting anyone to have any fun.

It was not most important part of the thread, though slight amusement and a bit impressed at speed, I'll give you that. Please don't take that as a complaint. Trust me, I am a lot more obvious when complaining (as might be evident in some other posts, lol).
