HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!! On behalf of suzi and all of the gals here, WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME to the Grocery Challenge from me - dancinmama!! If you have never clipped a coupon, or even if you have been using coupons for years, we'd love to have you join us. We are a crazy, fun-loving, and very friendly group of gals just chatting with one another about how to save big money using coupons. We are willing to help anyone, at any level, in any way that we can. Don't think that you have to read through the pages and pages of posts to join in - most of it will be old, out-of-date information anyway. Just go to the last page of the thread and introduce yourself. Tell us what area of the country you're from and where you shop (grocery stores, national chain stores, Target, WalMart, etc.). We'd love to have you join us on a regular basis, so don't be shy - just jump right in, have some fun, and save a ton of money in the process!! Since we are trying to foster a sense of true community on this thread, please try your best to keep your fellow couponers in mind when you post. Here are some suggestions: NEWBIES/OLDIES: If you post a HOUND ALERT requesting coupons from others, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE also post which insert/where the coupon can be found (Example: 1/2 SS) so that we can find it easily without having to research it ourselves. ALSO, if you need the coupon for a specific deal, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE try to remember to post the deal with your HOUND ALERT so that someone who may have the coupon(s) can decide whether they want/need to do the deal before sending out any of their coupons. THANKS!! POSTING ABOUT A DEAL / HOT COUPON: Some people get overwhelmed by the number of posts and only have time to skim the posts for the information that they need the most. If you are posting a deal, please post something that makes it stand out like "CVS DEAL ALERT" or if you are posting to tell us that there is a new, hot coupon available, please post something like "$3/1 WHOLLY GUACAMOLE IP ALERT". We want to make this thread as fun, friendly, and helpful as possible. These suggestions will save EVERYONE a lot of time when they are trying to "catch up" and read through past posts. Okay, now let's have some FUN!! ;D

misspt: Mainly what I am looking for at RA is anything that will give me a profit in UPs. I've gotten to the point with the UPs that I am not willing to pay sales tax to roll unless I'll get a profit in UPs to compensate.

I stopped at CVS this morning and scanned my card. I got a Free Cortaid up to $5.99 value. CVS didn't have stock, so they substituted a CVS brand brand for free. I hadn't seen it posted anywhere, but at the bottom of my receipt, there is a spend $7.00 on CVS first aid and get $3. EB. So, free first aid cream leaves you a little over $1. to get $3.00 back. Just a thought if you get the coupon and the stars align right....
ETA: So, I have a question on the gas card at CVS. The 3 day ad has ALL Physicans formula skin care $7.99 with the free gas symbol. I have the CRT for $15.00 off Physicans Formula, will it adjust down to $7.99 if I "buy" two or will it give the full $15? Does anyone have any experience with this? The CVS closest to my house was out of stock and, I didn't want to ask the coupon grinch. Thanks.

RA: the nature relief has been adjusted back to it's sales price of $6 dogmom: thanks for the cortaid CRT heads up! I also received my spring spending EB of $1.50. Same here on the nature relief. Oh well. I got the free cortaid as well. I was going to see if there were any deals coming up or any way to make it better than free, but they only had 2 on the shelf so I figured it would go fast. The pantene is a really good deal at CVS this week if you still have $2 shampoo CRTs from last week. Because all we really need is more pantene, right? Pantene: 2/$6.50 -2 x $2/1 CRT -$3/2 MC from 6/24 SS = -.50, and it counts toward the gas card I bought 2 this AM along with a dawn for .97 (with .25/1 from today's PG) and got all 3 for .22 total. If you had enough Qs to repeat twice three times more, you could earn the gas card for almost nothing. I only had enough CRTs to do it once, so I filled in the rest of the deal with physician's formula cosmetics. I got three of the cosmeceutical products for the rebate, but I noticed there were some good prices with peelie coupons that are out. The "matchmaker" blush is ~$5 on sale and has $3/1 peelies available. Also the "shimmer strips" eye-enhancing stuff is ~$3.50 on sale, with $2/1 peelies available. Three shimmer strips, minus $3/10 cosmetics CRT, minus 3 x $2/1 peelies would be really cheap too, and all the PF counts toward the gas card.

Can you let me know the approximate prices on the PF cosmeceutical products please? Thank you

Hi ladies! I've been out of the loop since Thurs. afternoon when a huge storm hit and we've been out of power for 2 days. We were very lucky no one was hurt but we had some damage to a fence and we lost part of huge tree. What a mess! Then, my worry was trying to keep my freezer of meat, dairy etc... from spoiling. I really lucked out yesterday and got the last generator in town. To compound matters, it has been extremely hot. Most of the people in our area are without electricity as I write. My nieces and sister came over to cool off and do some laundry. My hounding over the past few days consists of ice(we got the last bag), batteries, gas cans, canned food, fruit and gasoline. It will be good to get back to normal.

They are either $6 or $8 depending on which ones you get.
I also just remembered that my purchases will count towards the beauty club, so once the system catches up with my purchases I should earn another $5 EB. That will make the transaction a MM even if my rebate gets rejected, which is nice.

Some places near me are still without power and might not get it turned back on for another week. I did hear people asking both CVS and Shoprite about ice. Most stores are either out or close. They did keep announcing that they were getting more tomorrow so I hope your area does also. I hope you get power back soon.

They had the SPF 15 moisturizer. It scanned and rang up at $4.99 each. They gave me the overage on the CRT. So, scan your PF items.

RA: the nature relief has been adjusted back to it's sales price of $6 dogmom: thanks for the cortaid CRT heads up! I also received my spring spending EB of $1.50. Thanks misspt. I decided to go ahead and drive across town to RA this morning. The trip reminded me of why I stopped shopping there. I bought two Act II and they did not produce UPs. The NatureRelief was marked at 50% off (clearance), but they rang up regular price. I got my $2 for the Act II (in cash) and the difference between the sale price and the clearance price for the NatureRelief (in cash), but geez, what a hassle. And this is quite frequently the way that it goes FOR ME at Rite Aid. I must have some kind of RA curse. It's always "something" when I shop there, which is exactly why whenever I get UPs due to a REALLY, REALLY, REALLY great deal (like the Home Improvement GC glitch), I try to use them as efficiently as possible without "hanging around" for too long so that I don't .

Storm walloped us, too (Maryland - metro DC area). Power went out Friday 10:45 pm and we got it back in our neighborhood at 8:40 pm Saturday. I've seen much worse since living here, weirdly enough. We have gone for up to a week in an outage. It's strange to me that this decidedly urban/metropolitan area is so prone to power loss. I know it's in part due to overhead lines, but it does get old.
Happily for me/us, we did not lose anything important in food - not even ice cream that I'd bought at Shoprite on Friday (1.79/half gallon Friendly's!). THe summer swelter was bad, though. DH and I went to the mall Saturday - had a hair appointment - and people were everywhere, sitting on the floor in Macy's, lining the halls, charging cell phones and lap tops. We have no-cost wifi supplied by the city. I have not seen anything quite like this before.
I feel blessed to live in an era of AC.
Local CVS is still closed, due to power out. But Tiger Woods won a tournament, one town over, in the heat.

But Tiger Woods won a tournament, one town over, in the heat. I thought we were out of the woods but I was informed we will be losing our power again after a water tank gets filled. At least I got the laundry done and fridge cleaned out. I'm trying to get it as cool as I can before we do round two. My sis is borrowing my generator as hers is too small to run two freezers. Now we'll have to go and get ours back. Generators are selling like hotcakes around here as well as ice.

misspt,
Thanks for the heads up on the ECB deal on the small nivea tins. I was able to max out on both my cards, since that's my favorite to go lotion to carry with me.

Thanks to emhalf's idea I was able to get my head wrapped around the PF reabtes. My huge CVS had a special display with the TMF peelies on all 3 items, so this is what I did. I bought 1 of each variety since I was going to gift it to a friend and she loves to try new makeup.
PF Cosmecuticals 1*8.49 - 1$ MQ PF Cosmecuticals 1*7.49 - 1$ MQ PF Cosmecuticals 1*6.29 - 1$ MQ Pantene 4*3.25 - 2*3$ MQ - 3*2$ CRT
Used 2- 3/10 cosmetics, 14 ECB and paid 27 cents + tax. Got back 10$ gas card and will submit for the 25$ PF rebate. So more than 20$ profit. I found the cortaid at another store and was able to use 2$ off MQ from some booklets I found at CVS (a couple months ago) and used that to get some water bottles.

I read on WUC that some people have been able to get the H&S BOGO to auto deduct $9.49 (the max value on the coupon). Has anyone had any luck with that.
I suspect that the cashier has to start scanning product before they scan your card to get it, but I'm not sure.

Wow, I completely missed that we started a new month and I just posted my deals on the June thread. So I'm copying them here:
CVS yesterday:
Passport photo $9.99 CVS Eco friendly papter towel 8-pk $3.99 (only 50c ea.) Bayer Advanced $3.00 o.b. 40 ct. $3.99 tax $1.22 =$21.84 -$5/$20 CVS PDF -$2 CVS passport photo IP -$3 Bayer Advanced -$0.75c o.b =$11.44 OOP (the passport photo alone would have been $10 and I had no ECBs so I'm happy with that. I bought some of the paper towels the other day with no coupon so it's like it was free today. I was happy w/the 50c/roll price when I bought it the first time so this was even better. I'm going to return the one I bought the other day with cash.
#2 4 Scunci hair clips/rubber bands @$4.49-$5.59 ea. =~$20 -$3/$10 Cosmetics CRT (they told me basically that anything in the Cosmetics department counted) -~$10 Scunci BOGO -4 x $2 off any S/C/Styling Aid CRT =.18c OOP
Today:
4 x Head and Shoulders @4.50 ea. for DH 2 x VO5 @ $1.19 ea. (will use conditioner as shaving gel) 1 CVS eco-friendly TP $3.89 (filler) 1 CVS baby aspirin $5.99 for DH (2nd filler) tax $2.21 -$5/$20 CVS PDF expired yesterday -2 x $3/$10 Cosmetics -5 x $2 Shampoo/Cond/Styling Aid -BOGO SH MC -$9.49 (full price of larger size, instead of taking off $4.50) ETA: I can't remember if they scanned my card first or at the end. =$1.98 OOP (less than the tax)
I told the checker that they took off too much on the BOGO coupon but he said it would be too difficult to fix so I should grab something for $4.50. I also realize that the ECBs are eating the tax now since I paid less than tax on two of these three purchases.
Tomorrow's plan: $4.99 ZZquil $5.99 Cortaid $6-10 Anchor glassware with covers (we're trying to get away from plastic, for several reasons) $x filler if needed =$20 -$5/$20 CVS PDF expired (hopefully they'll still take it) -$2 ZZQuil CRT -$2 ZZQuil MC -$5.99 FREE Cortaid CRT ETA: -$1 Cortaid MC (thanks for the heads up) -$1 ECB for using green bag tag -?? 25% off purchase CRT (hopefully I can use it with the x/xx cpn. =less than $3 OOP for a discount on glassware that I've been wanting anyway
These are the biggest deals I've done since Black Friday and I'm pretty happy with the OOP, considering I had no ECBs. Thanks everybody for sharing about the CRTs and how they used them for the great ideas. Couldn't have done it without ya!

I read on WUC that some people have been able to get the H&S BOGO to auto deduct $9.49 (the max value on the coupon). Has anyone had any luck with that. I suspect that the cashier has to start scanning product before they scan your card to get it, but I'm not sure. The H&S auto deducted the $9.49 for me but my card was scanned before any items were rung up. I did two separate transactions at two different stores with my card rung up first both times. It auto deducted the same $9.49 both times. HTH

i think im gonna quit going to wags...the turkey bacon that everyone was saying was such a great deal is sooooo small!! i got it for .49 so its not so bad but still..plus i just dont like how their rewards work, it seems like i spend more there than i save twinmama: You just have to be VERY selective when shopping at WAGs. In the old days, we could shop there for 100% free and I used to shop there every single week, but that all went away when they did away with the Easy Saver Program. Now, I wait until they have a RR deal that is a pretty darn good MM. Like when Ecotrin was $1.50, buy (2) and get a $3 RR a while back and we had $1.50/1 Ecotrin MCs. I don't really need the Ecotrin so in essence, I "buy" the RR for just sales tax. I ALWAYS do this kind of deal if they have stock and I have the MCs I need to get it for free. IF I am going to pay any OOP at all (besides sales tax) to "buy" a RR, I make darn sure that there is something that I want or need in the ad previews that I can get using the RRs that will make getting them worth the time, effort and money. I might or might not roll depending on what I can get for free, if anything, and then I get out. Then I wait VERY PATIENTLY for the next really good deal. I think I've only done two or three RR deals so far this entire year because most of them really are not worth doing (for me anyway). I am not going to do a deal where I have to pay anything for a toothbrush because I have plenty in my stockpile. If I had no toothbrushes, it might be a different story.

Hmmm....I went in and they scanned my card before any items and there was no auto deduction for me. I wondered if scanning the card later in the transaction made a difference. This is a high possibility with the graveyard crew, but I'm certainly not going to go back without some assurance that I'll get the auto deduction. I got two bottles @ $.25/bottle plus $.75 sales tax ($1.25 OOP). I'm not willing to pay that kind of OOP to get more.
