i think im gonna quit going to wags...the turkey bacon that everyone was saying was such a great deal is sooooo small!! i got it for .49 so its not so bad but still..plus i just dont like how their rewards work, it seems like i spend more there than i save Wags is switching to a card in September, and most of us are expecting it to be crappy. So, not a bad time to say "bye-bye" to Wags for the moment.

How badly did you need the Mitchum? I think it is really easy to look at free AFTER RR deals and think they are a good deal, but $4.65 OOP for two deodorants is expensive (in my book) UNLESS that $4RR is really going to do something special for you.

Well, last week was just very busy for me at CVS. I can tell that I'm a little burned out by all the shopping because I TOTALLY forgot about the deal on the Nivea tins today. Since I don't really "plan" to do anything else at Rite Aid, CVS, or WAGs for the rest of the week, maybe I can use that time to chill out and re-energize. I finally put my coupon usage totals together for June and I broke $1,000 saved using MCs, CRTs, drug chain rewards, and Kohl's coupons (the $10/$25 and the 30% off coupon). That's like using $33 in coupons each and every day during the month. That's A LOT of dang coupons.

i did get 4 bags of kingsford charcoal for $6.45 OOP today at home depot! I totally agree. The combination of the quantity of CRTs that CVS offers, in addition to $/$$ coupons, and the fact that you do not have to match the quantity of coupons to the quantity of items, puts CVS ahead of WAGs without a doubt for any couponer who might choose between the two. If you are spending $4.65 for (2) deodorants and a $4RR, my guess is that your OOP can start really piling up over the course of a month; sales tax alone is ridiculous. That is why I ALWAYS focus on OOP, because when all is said and done that is what really matters the most if you are trying to reduce your grocery/household budget to free up money for other purposes.

The H&S auto deducted the $9.49 for me but my card was scanned before any items were rung up. I did two separate transactions at two different stores with my card rung up first both times. It auto deducted the same $9.49 both times. HTH What does "with my card rung up first both times" mean? ETA: Do you mean that your card was scanned first both times. Hmmm....I went in and they scanned my card before any items and there was no auto deduction for me. I wondered if scanning the card later in the transaction made a difference. This is a high possibility with the graveyard crew, but I'm certainly not going to go back without some assurance that I'll get the auto deduction. I got two bottles @ $.25/bottle plus $.75 sales tax ($1.25 OOP). I'm not willing to pay that kind of OOP to get more. The stores by me they are trained to ring up you extracare card first. they will not ring up anything until after they have scanned it. They then ring up one item then the bag tag. They know I have one but for people who say they don't they scan a store card first before ringing up any items. I did two H&S deals on Sat and 1 CG lash blast deal on Sun. (My store takes expired coupons up to 1 week.) Every time the P&G coupons auto deducted the full amount. I don't know if the cashier knows this or in my case just ignored it. the CG deal I did I was rung up by the store manager. I don't know that they still are ringing up that way. I do know that the first trans I did for the H&S she scanned the coupons so fast I was surprised that she was done when she told me the total. So in my mind it had to go through without a beep or blink. HTH

I only have a CVS, and shoprite, so I don't know any other stores. I have to pass them to go almost anywhere so it is no big deal to stop there. So I normally stop at least once a week for my papers on Sunday. this past week I went 4 times in 2 days and didn't do the nivea tins. I will have to see if they are still doing the $2 ecb and maybe head out for another run today. ;D I did notice on Sat that the CRT's and ECB's were able to cut into sales tax. the first time it I couldn't figure out how my OOP got so low. I spent a long time reading my receipt trying to figure out what happened so I could do it again. My last trans, rung up by the mgr, I mis added my final total after coupons and crts. I handed an ECB that was more than my final total plus sales tax. It actually went through fine with no beep and left me with a negative total. All I can think of is that they reprogrammed their computers and it changed the way it treats sales tax. I know that before the computer wouldn't let me use an ECB that was more than the amount left before sales tax.

twinmama There was NO WAY I would ever let late DH shop w/me. WAAAY too much not on the list and $$ stuff found its way into the cart. Like Dancin I buy very little at WAG these days since Albertson’s no longer accepts RR. I do want olives and maybe soda this week.
I am going to walk over to CVS in a bit & try to do the Nivea deal BUT so often my stores do NOT even have these items. Not OOS, no place even on the shelf.

The glitches, catalinas, coupons, fuel points, rewards and Kohls cash helped me reach my savings while OOP wasn't too bad considering gifts for Father's Day and the emergency supplies we bought last week.

I still have $2/1 shampoo CRTs and I don't even have the desire to try to cobble together a scenario.

twinmama: The other thing that would be a huge factor for you in determining whether a deal would be worth doing, even at CVS, is the cost of gas for a round trip between the store and the base. As the cost of gas rises, so does the "cost of doing business" in couponing. Even if I am getting something for $0 OOP (besides sales tax), I need to make sure that the value of that item outweighs the cost of gas to get it. That is another reason that I, personally, stopped shopping at RA. I have to drive across town to get there and most of the time it is just not worth it for another free tube of toothpaste or a even a small MM on some obscure health product that we won't use.

I'm not sure how much I saved using q's in June but, like Dancinmama, I know it was a lot! Mostly used at CVS, too! They were very good to me in June. I also used a $10/$30 Kohl's q combined with 20% off. Bought stuff that was sale priced and the receipt said I saved $116. Who really knows... I may go to CVS later to see if they have the Nivea tins--those would be great for travelling. I have to walk to the bank today (an 8 mile rountrip) so will stop on my way. I'm supposed to go buy some more shredded redwood bark as well but we'll see. I think I'm a little tired from last week's rock shoveling, bark laying, and painting DS's room. That project is done and it looks pretty darn good--got all the paint for FREE from Ace Hardware when they had their "get 1 qt. paint free" Saturdays. They all know me there and never said I couldn't get another qt. on a different Saturday promo. Love free paint! Hope they have another promo so I get inspired to do the downstairs--or DD2's room if she'll let me pounce on it.

CVS CORTAID CRT
Has anyone who got this yesterday, scanned their card today? Is it spitting out another one? If so, this would be great to use as a filler IF another $5/$20 is offered by one of the newspapers that are authorized to make them available on the internet.
I think that is the only thing that would get me into CVS today.

I can't even begin to think of how much I saved if I took into account the value of the products. That paint deal at Ace was pretty darn good. DH got one, I got one, and DS got one.

There were only a few that printed today, and nothing exciting. I DID get 8 of the Nivea tins/white plastic tubs on 2 different cards and got $8 EB's both times. Also, the Head & Shoulders MC auto deducted $9.00 so had nice overage from that, too. And, I got the $5 beauty CRT on 2 of my cards today, so, was a pretty good day at cvs!

When I bought (2) yesterday mine did not auto deduct. I thought, after the fact, that maybe the reason was that I did not have $9.49 worth of product to cover the Q so it prompted the cashier for a price. He looked at the transaction and said that all he could take off was $4.50, so I ended up paying $.25 per bottle plus $.75 sales tax - too pricey for shampoo even if it is H&S. I saw on WUC (I think) that a gal suggested buying (9) H&S for $40.50 and using (4) BOGO which would deduct $9.49 each bringing your total down by $37.96 (to $2.54) and then using a $2/1 shampoo CRT. I would be more than willing to do that, but I'm screwed if the register does not auto deduct and the cashier only takes off 4 x $4.50. At this point, it is too big a risk just to MAYBE get some free H&S.

I had plenty of extra stuff in my transaction though...I got 2 Pantene, 2 H&S, 2 Hawaian Tropic, 4 Coke, and 4 Nivea tins, and a Schick Hydro razor. I used $3/2 Pantene and two, $2/1 shampoo (all I had left on this card) BOGO H&S $2/1 Schick MC, $5/1 Schick CRT two $2/1 Hawaian Tropic MC $1/4 coke 2 ltr. I also used a 30% off, expiring today, but my discount was reduced cuz I had a $5 Beauty EB to use and a $3/10 cosmetics, but, I figured some discount was better than none. I think it took off almost $8 still, so, it was ok. I paid with a $10 gift card and $8 EB's and got back $22 EB's, so, for a not very well planned trip, I was pretty pleased. And I have 6.50 toward the gas card deal, if I feel like trying to finish that up.

Macys Rant Not very happy with Macys today. I have been a long term customer of Macys and I usually pay my bill early. This month, I sent in my check 3 days prior to the due date and got my email saying that the my account was credited. They sent me a bill today for the balance from last month and the same amount as late fees and 2$ extra. So double the payment from last month. I called them and she said I had to send it a week early like I usually do and she would waive it this one time. I told her to go ahead and waive it and then close my account, since I do not need their account anymore. ETA - I could not do online payment for them a couple of years ago from my CU and this has gone on long enough. I don't even use my card that much anymore and I am willing to pay higher price if I need it anyways.

From my Sunday post: 4 x Head and Shoulders @4.50 ea. for DH 2 x VO5 @ $1.19 ea. (will use conditioner as shaving gel and to make my own hair detangler) 1 CVS eco-friendly TP $3.89 (filler) 1 CVS baby aspirin $5.99 for DH (2nd filler) tax $2.21 -$5/$20 CVS PDF expired -2 x $3/$10 Cosmetics -5 x $2 Shampoo/Cond/Styling Aid -BOGO SH MC -$9.49 (full price of larger size, instead of taking off $4.50) ETA: I can't remember if they scanned my card first or at the end. =$1.98 OOP (less than the tax) I told the checker that they took off too much on the BOGO coupon [before I read about it here] but he said it would be too difficult to fix so I should grab something for $4.50. I also realize that the ECBs are eating the tax now since I paid less than tax on two of these three purchases.

CA CVS SHOPPERS Has anyone gotten the H&S BOGO coupon to auto deduct? If so, what kind of deal did you do and did you scan your card before any product was scanned? I am completely confused now with CVS. I went back today to do the cortaid on my second card and do the nivea deal. I have made 5 trips since Sat. I don't think I have been there 5 times in the past 3 months. Well I needed some Maalox for DH and I hadn't scanned his card for the cortaid deal plus I had a 30% off coupon. So I added 2 H&S since I had 1 more BOGOF coupon. 2 H&S.....................$9.00 1 cortaid .................,6.39 4 nivea.....................3.96 1 CVS brand maalox 9.49 Subtotal...................28.84 minus H&S BOGO.......9.00 courtaid CRT..............5.99 cortaid MC.................1.00 H&S CRT.....................1.00 Shampoo CRT.............2.00 Shampoo CRT.............2.00 30% off CVS coupon...2.35 Plus sales tax.............0.91 Final total...................6.41 so it seems the CRT's plus the BOGO coupon and ate into the CVS brand Maalox but that lowered what the 30% off coupon took off I think. I have no idea why it took off $9.49 automatically yesterday and $9.00 today. Could it have been a glitch that they fixed? ETA my extra care card was scanned before any items just like on Sun.

I stopped at CVS this morning and scanned my card. I got a Free Cortaid up to $5.99 value. CVS didn't have stock, so they substituted a CVS brand brand for free. I hadn't seen it posted anywhere, but at the bottom of my receipt, there is a spend $7.00 on CVS first aid and get $3. EB. So, free first aid cream leaves you a little over $1. to get $3.00 back. Just a thought if you get the coupon and the stars align right.... ETA: So, I have a question on the gas card at CVS. The 3 day ad has ALL Physicans formula skin care $7.99 with the free gas symbol. I have the CRT for $15.00 off Physicans Formula, will it adjust down to $7.99 if I "buy" two or will it give the full $15? Does anyone have any experience with this? The CVS closest to my house was out of stock and, I didn't want to ask the coupon grinch. Thanks. Thanks for the CVS first aid tip! My store was out of Cortaid and let me substitute a CVS brand instead. Would have totally missed that EB deal if you hadn't pointed it out! ;D Just a quick update on this deal ($3 EB when you buy $7 worth of CVS first aid items). Its a three day sale, so good through tomorrow/Tuesday. The cheapest item I could find today was CVS bandages for $2.67. They counted towards the deal, but I only got a $2 EB instead of $3 EB. My receipt and the store tags say $3, so I would have had a great case for an adjustment EB to be printed...if I'd seen it before I'd left the store. So watch your receipt if you do this deal.

Dancin: Great job! I had a good month too, over $1000.00 in savings. The glitches, catalinas, coupons, fuel points, rewards and Kohls cash helped me reach my savings while OOP wasn't too bad considering gifts for Father's Day and the emergency supplies we bought last week. Right back atcha!! It's a lot of darn coupons to use in a month. Do you feel like you need a break, or am I getting old? I still have $2/1 shampoo CRTs and I don't even have the desire to try to cobble together a scenario. Yes, I'll be taking a break no matter if I want to or not. With what we've been going through, I'm not worried about using CRTs this week. We've just been trying to get the necessities to see us through this power outage. I never did lose power again, which I've been thankful for, but I've had nonstop company coming to do laundry and hang out in the airconditioning. I have to replace some dairy and condiments that we had to throw out before we got our generator. Next week will be better and I'll be in a better mood to do some hounding. My friend got her generator too late and had to throw out a whole freezer full of meat. Some people won't be getting power until later this week and the heat has been relentless.

Be sure to print your CVS facebook coupons: $3 off $15 health care items, $3 off $15 beauty (goes great with the Physician's Formula sale and gas card promo!), $2 off candy or beverages and free 5x7 photo. You have to enter in your CVS card # and email address and then choose a coupon. But if you go back and do it again, you can select another coupon. www.iheartcvs.com/2012/07/million-fans-facebook-coupons.html

That is why I ALWAYS focus on OOP, because when all is said and done that is what really matters the most if you are trying to reduce your grocery/household budget to free up money for other purposes. I've actually been tracking a number of things since 2012 for RA. One of the things I track is my cash OOP and I see what I've spent on average, per transaction. It's an interesting analysis, and it helps me to be careful about how I put together my transactions.
