Stay safe Tenn and everyone else this weather will effect (even if it's just a cloudy sky where you are).
Today is a day to pay attention to the weather. The news has been ramping up the "End of the World" is coming here. We're gonna get it late afternoon - more likely after dark and over night.
I have relatives in the suburbs who are a little more "paranoid" then usual - their 'burbs suffered tornado/high wind/micro burst damage 2 years ago (no one died, houses still standing but damaged/declared uninhabitable due to structural damage and LOTS of trees down or gone and lots of houses with roof damage/water damage from roof damage). After decades of a nonchalant "oh, they are calling for bad weather - no big deal" it has become a getting twitchy/anxiety "oh, they are calling for bad weather..... oh no, not again.".
All you can do is pay attention to the weather/sirens today/tonight and be prepared (around here it would be prolonged power outage (more than 12 hours - up to 2 days)

We were in the low 30s last week. Yesterday we hit 84°F. 😳 Combine those 2 items with the fact that we have record amount of snowpack, this winter and are located in a valley at the base of the Rocky Mountains and I'd say we have a pretty good chance of flooding. We've had a ton on avalanches this year. Oh and its supposed to storm, possibly snow for the next 3 days. Then hot again on Sunday.
There were some areas that flooded today.
But the governor said he not worried about it. Seriously? I think he's kidding himself and hoping to get other to believe him.
That will lead to a lot of unprepared homeowners and businesses, if you ask me. It has happened so many times before.
In some years past, they have had to close some major highways turning them into rivers, with walking bridges over them, to allow the city to keep functioning.
Our infrastructure cannot handle such an event, at this time.
I hope they get my a/c fixed tomorrow. I want to be prepared for whatever type of weather we get!
Take care!

Right now in Springfield, Massachusetts (where I grew up) it is 90 degrees. It doesn't usually get that high until late June/July. By next Tuesday, the expected high is 57 degrees.

What can I say? Weird, yes weird that is what it is. It is May and we already had rain three days this week. I am not used to any rain at all in May - ok maybe one stray shower but that is it. Yet here I am and it looks like we may get even more of "the wet stuff". Very disconcerting. I love that we had all that rain and snow (in the mountains not here) this winter as it ended the severe drought we were in. But enough is enough. I want my sunshine back - without any heat waves TYVM!

Canadian wildfire smoke returned. Luckily only at orange levels and might be better tomorrow. Tornado thankfully missed where I was the other day but did do damage in another town. Was a bit creepy to get tornado warnings on my phone.
Tomorrow will be hot and hopefully remain dry for another day. Rain in the forecast after that.

We've been breaking records with temperature highs this summer, over and over. Last Sunday we broke a record for that day, by reaching 103°F. Yesterday, we broke the record for that day (Saturday), reaching 106°F. It's just SO HOT!
I just had all the air filters in my car replaced. I think it helped, but not dramatically. It's too hot for the a/c in cars to keep up. We have lots of roads buckling too. It's crazy.
I hope everyone is staying cool and hydrated.

Lots of rain. And more coming. Predicted up to 5 inches in the area. We're on the upper edge of the predicted 5 " rain.

Lots of rain. And more coming. Predicted up to 5 inches in the area. We're on the upper edge of the predicted 5 " rain. Send an inch or so my way. Please. Overnight low last night was 80 degrees. But due to the humidity, the heat index was 90 degrees. One could have cut the air with a knife.

Our weatherperson calls that wearable weather! What's your dew point?
ND/SD is sucking wet air from WY/CO. LOL

62.8% humidity and 75.2F dewpoint current conditions where I'm at. I actually had to look it up because I've just been saying it is oppressive and gross heat.

It is warm here and very very dry. I watered half my landscaping today and will do the rest tomorrow. Don't want to lose my shrubs. We haven't even had a frost yet.
Made sure the house was shut up tight, the farmers are combining all around us and what's in the air is unbelievable. I have a really bad headache and I'm sure its all the debris in the air.
Hope your weather is better.

I posted the below on Current Events. But will also post the message here because it does have something to do with weather (in a sense).

The weather in Southern California was great last week. DD2 thought it was a bit chilly overnight. She and the kids put on sweatshirts, after it got dark, when we were outside at Disneyland. But I didn't.
The last night, I wish I would have, so I didn't feel the praying mantis that landed on my arm!

At one point, Jack Skellington stopped and "said" hello to the 3yr old. She loves him, but didn't see him coming (she was napping), so she was startled. But it pleased her. She talked about it for the rest of the day.😁

But to have a Disney character you like, stop and pay attention to only you, with no other kids around, then walk away. She was thrilled. He was very tall (& thin)! A few minutes later, he walked by again, with Sally. 3yr old DGD is going to be Sally, for Halloween, this year.

I like the Disney YouTube videos where the characters are out and about and often stop to speak with the little kids, especially those with autism. The characters often connect with the ones who need it the most.
