To me 70 degrees with a light breeze is “cold”. I hate cold and we had a drastic drop in temps yesterday. Down to 38 and only 60 now. Brrrrrrrrr!

The Siberian Express brought in an Extreme Cold warning on the weekend that hasn’t left yet. Yesterday morning when I got up it was -51 C with the windchill. About an hour and a half ago, it was -50 C with the wind. It’s warmed up to -46 C. On the plus side, it’s been too cold and dry for snow so the roads are mostly clear to drive on.
Things are supposed to start warming up tomorrow and be quite balmy by next week. The downside is snow is in the forecast.

Okay. It's f'n 8 degrees right now. Got done to 1 degree earlier. Will be very cold for the next three days.
And now, the TVA, the source for all the state's electricity, is stating that to keep up with the demand for electricity to heat our homes is going to implement two rolling blackouts a day throughout the state of Tennessee to keep up with the demand.
This sucks.

We’re supposed to make it to 33 today. I will not complain since I am not shoveling snow and the skies are bright blue and sun is shining in all its glory. But we are probably 30 degrees below normal. Stay warm Tennesseer . Hopefully next week we will be back in the 60. I haven’t check that far ahead since it changed on a dime on Gulf Coast!

Funny-my sister lives in Taos, New Mexico and she called me the same time Strickland was on CNN. She was watching CNN and heard Strickland say it too. The reason for her call.

We have some 60 plus degree weather coming up new week too. To add insult to injury, the industrial garage heater I have which keeps the garage cats warm in the winter crapped out overnight. I have a small space heater now trying to keep the garage 'warm' for the cats. Roads somewhat impassable due to ice so not venturing out to big box stores looking for a big heater. Probalby out anyway of big heaters due to demand to keep warm.

The video of the guy was on the morning news was funny. Poor guy. He said he didn't even know the TV station he works for had a 3 a.m. news show. And he was doing the 3 a.m. weather on the street segment.

I'm glad you didn't have to have rolling blackouts. I hope your garage cats hang in there.

Our weather is ridiculous. It's -2 right now, with a wind chill of -26. Now, in February, this is possible, but obviously it's even messing with the Christmas holidays, and here folks know how to dress. Unfortunately, people conveniently forget how to drive on ice, and that's why we have problems. Our power grids, thankfully, are much better than a lot of parts of the USA. That doesn't mean I'm not layering up, inside the house. I'm not ready for this yet...

We are forecast to not get below freezing for 48 straight hours next week. After not being without electricity or any heat for seven days this past February due to an ice storm here, I am starting to really dislike winter. Normally they have been relatively mild winters these past years. But with the second hottest summer on record this year and these wicked cold snaps, it sucks.

I'd tell you to move to Florida (I DID have amazingly good neighbors), BUT, my old neighborhood was ordered to evacuate twice this year for hurricanes, so maybe not...

GOOD!Thank you for the update. Well we had a power outage this morning. I am guessing it was one of those rolling blackouts because it was exactly 20 minutes. If so, I am kind of pissed off at our electric co-op. There was no notification of scheduled blackouts. No email, no phone message, no push notification, nothing on their website. We are in the very low single digits this morning and the temp in the house dropped 5 degrees in those 20 minutes. Imagine the panic some people who had no awareness felt.

Mine went out at 0730 local time. Checked local TV station website and it said rolling blackouts have started. 'We' should expect two or three rolling blackouts a day for around 30 minutes each time.

Okay power back on after 45 minutes off. So I assume we should expect 45 minute rolling blackouts today.
