Did you go to yours? What type of event? Fun, boring, awful? I just got the invitation for my 10-year reunion, to be held this summer at a festival-type event in my hometown. I'll probably end up going (it's about an hour away) but I'm kind of "meh" about it. Maybe because 99% of my class is on Facebook and we're a small enough group we already pretty much know what everyone else has been doing for the past 10 years. Plus my arch-rival from HS is currently enrolled at Harvard Law and I don't want to have that conversation At least DH and I both get in free since we graduated in the same class. But I wanted to hear your reunion experiences!

I didn't go to the main reunion, but I did go to a gathering at a restaurant/bar that was somehow associated with the reunion. I didn't enjoy it much, but that's probably because I wasn't really friends with anybody in high school. My best friend was there, but I could have just hung out with her outside of the reunion setting.

Nope. I heard that someone is organzing a 10 year reunion but never recieved anything. I read about it as a facebook post on someone else's wall. Oh well, whoever does the organzing for these things seems to do a pretty crappy job of it.
I don't want to see 95% of the people I went to high school with anyhow.
I went with DH to his 25th and it was fun they had it at the casino so that gave me something to do because I didn't know anyone. He had a blast.

I missed my 25th HS reunion due to a death in the family, but we are going to my husband's 50th HS reunion later this year. This oughta be good. I told him he had to go, just to see how many classmates he's outlived AND how many classmates are old, fat and ugly. Oh, and if any of them have a trophy wife (he does!)

I went to both my 10 year and 20 year reunions, and I was on the planning committees. I was in charge of tracking people down.
Both were entertaining, I like catching up with people.
Two years ago, there was an 80's group reunion and everyone who graduated in the 1980's was invited. I liked that even better because I got to see people that were not in my class but I haven't seen in ages.

the dumb shits class officers for my class waited until the last minute to plan the reunion and tried to do it on Black Friday. Um, no. People are traveling/spending time with their families. So they rescheduled for this past January. I considered, but no one I really wanted to see was going. I don't think I missed much. When I get curious about what HS peeps are up to, I just log on to Facebook. That usually reminds me of why I got the hell out of Dodge when I had the chance.

Skipped my 10 year. It hadn't been long enough. I may go to the 15.

I think mine was on Black Friday, too (or maybe it was that Saturday), which worked out well because people were travelling back into town to see their families.

QQ, I think a few of the class officers did stay local. My close family no longer lives in that area though. Plus I would have needed someone to watch DS while we went. And DH hates those type of events. Maybe I'll go to the 15 year.

And if you don't bring DH, you don't need a babysitter.

My 10 year was in December. I went only because I had friends going.. it wasn't bad! A pair who'd gotten married already got divorced... weird to me but I guess we're going on 30, so not too weird? actually saw some people I liked and had some good talks. Lots of still-single guys came around and chatted with us with opening lines like "I see you girls all have rings on?" overall I actually liked high school so I was looking forward to it and it was decent.

but then who would sit next to me and make snide comments? The one guy from HS who would have done that with me wasn't going to be in the area (he lives in NC now). He also had a very tough time in HS.

Yeah, same here. Last month I asked DH if it was bad that the main reason I'm thinking about going is because I'm doing better than most of the people I didn't like back then... He said "Hell no, that's why I'm bringing you as my date!" LOL. That sounds like fun. Most of my friends were a year ahead of me so I'd rather go to their reunion. Hopefully they start doing something like that at the 20-year mark. I think reunions must start getting more interesting then (my mom always has a blast at hers - but then, she LIKED high school ).

I skipped my 10 year. I was 8 months pregnant at the time & wasn't too excited about it. Then I got the invite & they were charging something like $80/person to attend, at which point I decided I really didn't care. For the most part most of the people I hung out with & would like to catch up with were in the class above or class below mine & they wouldn't have been there.

"I just got the invitation for my 10-year reunion," Good Lord...I was due with my firstborn and missed my ten year. He will be 26 soon. Let's see...last year was my 35th class reunion...I don't think anything was planned. Last one I went to was my five year...just weeks before I got married.

in my class, the people who really loved HS were the people you knew were never going to do any better than that time. And I was right about most of them.

Her social calendar books up quickly. Other than that, I didn't stay close with anyone from HS. I never really felt like I could be myself until college, so I was always slightly guarded.

I think the 50% divorce rate has held pretty steady with my class. Maybe 20%-30% have never been married, and about half of the rest are either divorced (usually with kids) or on their second marriage. DH is one of them, he was divorced by 22

I went to my 10 yr reunion and was really glad I did. I almost didn't go because it was halfway across the country from where I live now and the thought of paying for a flight, hotel, etc. was a deterrent. I ended up going and having a blast. My 20 yr reunion was last year and I didn't go and didn't really feel like I missed anything. I do have to say that in looking at the pics on FB some of these people are not looking so great. I hate to say it but those pics made me feel really good about myself - LOL! I still get carded in casinos - yeah, I know the usually card people who can pass for 30, but I am almost 40 so it makes me feel damn good!

I didn't go to mine. It was 8 hrs away and I didn't feel like making the trip for it. My friends that were in my class weren't going anyway. I went to a wedding last month that had a whole bunch of guys that were a year younger than me. That is all the reunion I need. I do kind of want to go with DH to one of his reunions. Just because I would be the "hot, trophy" wife who is only slightly older than everyone else's kids.

I have seen a few peeps from my class in the past few years...ran into them in the strangest places...by accident. My best friend from middle school through hs was in my wedding and I am planning on looking her up...I think I know where she lives. Should be fun!

Or, looking at it from the other direction, one of my classmates is married to a man in his 60's. We were joking that he's the only one in the room collecting social security.

DH is one of them, he was divorced by 22 Yeah, I guess statistically it isn't weird! My class was pretty small for my area (175ish kids) and there are a few sets of kids who got married... that's the only divorce I know of to date. It's weird, a friend of mine from a different school district complains about how everyone she went to high school with is having kids, but my class seems relatively low on the kids thus far.
