It's as if we don't even have an election in 8 days. The Eastern controlled media is only worried about a hurricane this morning.
They must realize this campaign is over, and have to change the subject.

Odd, isn't it, how when the president does his job, effectively, his detractors, who have exerted themselves mightily (for four long years) to block or stall any presidential initiative... accuse the president of having ulterior motives. How perverse. Practically pathological. True. I know that many, many people (including myself) think George W. Bush was a disaster as President, but his speech on the response to 9/11 was extremely good, and I think by far his most presidential moment. I have no problem giving him credit for it, but then, I'm not a pathetic little partisan hack. Too bad so many people are.... www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/gwbush911jointsessionspeech.htmBush did a good job in the aftermath of 9/11 not good after Katrina. When Fox News is saying WTF to a Repub Pres you know you screwed up. Some people are screaming about our response in Lybia when we only had a few hours, yet in our own country we couldn't move the Troops for DAYS.

I survived his election in 2008. I survived 8 years of Bush. I'm a retired straight white guy, guys like me are like cockroaches in a nuclear storm. Romney won't hurt me, might actually help lower my taxes, but I'm not that selfish to want to see all the people Republicans hate suffer (starting with his opinion about 47% of the population).

This storm is bigger and causing much more damage. We had 10 inches of snow in Eastern Pa in '93.
This storm has altered the coastline of New Jersey.

I guess Fox News got tricked too, since they also appear to be covering the storm.

There is entirely too much "what's in it for me" and not enough "what is best for the future of our kids and grandkids".. A Romney win would probably not hurt DH and I. But he could badly hurt my disabled granddaughter years after I'm gone.

She might want to consider becoming a Mormon if that happens. The GOP plan is to end SS disability in favor of a 'private' solution- which I guess will force people to buy disability insurance on every conception- because once a doctor discovers a fetus has a problem it is pre-existing, no matter how bad, but you will be forced to proceed, even if you don't want to, even if the doctor tells you how badly it is going to turn out- which they don't have to anymore under their plan. If it bankrupts you- your problem, medical bills- your problem, 24-7 care- your problem. GOP- our problem.

Don't forget Romney also proposed that we eliminate FEMA and replace it with individaul state plans.
He said we could let the market create market based private insurance solutions and then have individaul state plans to back it up. Well the losses out east are so staggering I just don't see how say NJ or NY could self insure for this.
As far as having private insurance for hurricanes, well read the news coverage about insurers. Their losses will be pretty much covered by reserves becasue they refused to insure the riskies properties put in co-insurance and limited coverages on what they would insure. So how does he think a private company is going to step up and decide to provide coverage for this kind of thing?
I get that we can't insure everything. But, NY needs to clean up infastructure that is publicly owned - subway tunnels, fix mass transit tracks and probably replace some busses and trains.
As far as homes on beaches, I am ok with limiting coverage and refusing to let people rebuild in flood plains.
Personally I think Romeny is a master at double speak and misinforming/misleading people. The 47% and more will suffer under his leadership.
PS I am with Iono1 and Gardening Grandma, we would probably benefit personally from Romney's proposals, but I think Long Term it will hurt the country and our children. The only people I think will benefit from Romney's proposals are the Ultra Rich.

So how does he think a private company is going to step up and decide to provide coverage for this kind of thing? As far as homes on beaches, I am ok with limiting coverage and refusing to let people rebuild in flood plains. Private insurance will deal with it by refusing to pay, offering less than required, endless litigation, and worst case file bankruptcy. The people holding the insurance would be left SOL and the insurer would probably still cry to the government for help like AIG did. But while the premiums are rolling in, man what a party they would have on the Mitt plan. Want to see a good example of insurers not paying up- this from the May flood in TN: Nearly one year after a historic flood ravaged Nashville and submerged the popular Opry Mill shopping mall, the mall said it will reopen in 2012.
This will happen despite the fact the property owner, Simon Property, is still in court fighting with insurers over some $150 million to $200 million in insurance money it said it needed to rebuild.
A group of some 16 insurers assumed varying percentages of the risk in excess layers of $50 million to $100 million and $100 million to $200 million.
The insurers have said Opry Mills is subject to only $50 million because that is the limit in the insurance package for properties located in 100-year high hazard flood zones.
But Simon insists that Opry Mills is not in a high hazard zone so the limitation does not apply. It claims that Aon issued numerous certificates of insurance confirming that the Opry Mills property was covered up to the $200 million limit. It also claims Aon affirmed this view in an email after the May flooding.
Opry Mills claims that insurers’ refusal to pay to the $200 million limits is contrary to the policy language and contrary to representations made by its broker, Aon. The mall owner is seeking the $200 million insurance payout plus triple damages under the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act.www.insurancejournal.com/news/southeast/2011/04/12/194299.htmInsurance 101- Collect premiums and figure out a way later not to pay claims.

If Obama doesn't bring the Romney position on FEMA up I'm sure that Biden and the Surrogates like Bill Clinton will. I can see Romney twisting in the wind..... he is having a bit of trouble on the stump figuring about how to frame this.

You think if he ignores reporters enough they'll go away? ;D
