Sorry! SL I have a question for you... Actually GEL I have a question for you can answer as well
question: if I am sitting in person talking to another person telling them a story at work. The sales guy that was looking for a bigger envelop. I get a response of DAM Zaire you're such a jerk you should have just handed him the envelop and not have left it on his desk.
Am I expected to 1 -not reply 2- only say thank you that would have been a good idea if this happens again 3- get defensive reply and say it already happened there is nothing for me to do now 4-something else beyond my comprehension

Am I expected to 1 -not reply 2- only say thank you that would have been a good idea if this happens again 3- get defensive reply and say it already happened there is nothing for me to do now 4-something else beyond my comprehension I will attempt an answer with the limited information you have given me. I don't know, in this scenerio, if you were looking for advice or were just wanting to vent, so I'm not able to give you any exacts. As far as #1 (not replying)...that is up to you. I don't think anybody has said that people shouldn't reply. In fact, I think quite the opposite has been stated. One must expect replies when one posts or makes a statement. Regarding #2? Taking the high road is always a preferable option. Sometimes, it's best to just say "thanks" and be on your way - especially if you weren't looking for advice. #3? Getting defensive is never a good idea. Especially on a message board. Defensiveness to message board posters is like chum to sharks. I suppose #2 is the most favorable response. I'm not sure why you asked me, because I'm the first one to take a bite out of somebody's ass when they are being a jerk. But ideally, that would be the thing to do.

No, GEL - you don't have to delete anything, and you haven't done anything wrong. All I'm saying is, Zaire's been posting about the same things for months on end. He says he wants to hear other people's comments, but the trouble is, he only wants to hear the nice. He has to understand that some of the things he's talking about (relationship wise) go against other people's views of what a healthy relationship is. And a lot of you feel the way he views/treats women is wrong, and you're telling him. Then HE gets upset that he's misunderstood (again). Things are being dragged up from months ago, from entirely different threads, just to prove he said something he's now denying. Some of the quoted text that Zaire posted last night doesn't even have the author's name - just a "Member Number" (whatever that is) - because he's edited it out - so there's no way of knowing who said it, or what thread it even came from. People's emotions are getting in the way because they think some of the things Zaire is doing are wrong and they're telling him so - and then he's getting defensive, because he thinks what he's doing is perfectly ok. But as long as he's going to put it here, he can't complain that some people are going to be upset with what he's doing and tell him so. The trouble is, things will get heated, and then someone has to come and babysit the thread. I just don't see the point of digging up old crap from other threads just to prove a point - especially when you can't tell where or when that quoted text was posted. And I'll also add that I think you're just beating a dead horse now. SL, I took out one paragraph to shorten the quote and because I didn't need it. "He has to understand that ..." Actually he does not and the proof is in numerous threads. As much as we want to make someone understand something it is not in our hands. If they choose not to or are incapable its nothing we can control. The only thing that can be controlled is for the mods to not let any whining and complaints get out of hand. I'm pretty sure quite a few of Zaire's "member" quotes were tallguy who I think he dislikes even more than Rick, but that's a guess on my part. I'm reading a book called A First-Rate Madness and its about how the author believes that leaders who have what's traditionally called mental illness are the only type of leaders that can lead effectively in times of crisis and those who hew more to the norm of the masses, i.e. Bush, Tony Blair and others are detrimental in crisis and often unwilling to admit mistakes. One of the conclusions he has is that the 85% of the population that hews to the norm is less likely to admit when they are wrong versus those in the mental illness and fringe categories. Maybe Z is so much of the norm he can't see he might be missing something or on the incorrect path? I find the rationalizations interesting even the fishing expeditions for reassurance its OK still to post. Sure the biggest part of me wishes he would find his way perhaps do something like many couples and have couples they are friends with and couples outings to keep them from being with each other almost all non work hours. I do see the dead horse beating brought out some EEers for the day.

My "border" function is right in my tool bar at the top. I believe you can click and drag it there on yours too.
