Yesterday was a NS. Yesterday was also the start of a week of beautiful weather here; 60s and 70s for a week in winter. Yeah. I took advantage of the weather yesterday and walked for 1 hour and 15 mnutes. I walked for 30 minutes at lunch today.
moneysquirrel: hope you get relief soon. A bad allergy season has been forecast for us as well b/c of the milder winter this year.
Angel -- How is Big Yellow recovering?
Dakota -- I hope mini D continues to improve!

dakota - I wish we had under cabinet lighting. Just seems too complicated without an outlet nearby (we only have two in the kitchen... which we hate)
allergies - they're hitting me hard so far this month. I was starting to wonder if I was getting too used to my allergy meds but I think the season is just horrid.
Had a spendy few days, but very much within reason. Had BFF's bridal shower and it went well, my gift made her tear up (success!), the game I planned was enjoyed, and the brunch was delicious. and I managed to be down a pound this morning!

Having a really crappy day. DS#2's Ipad has been replaced for the second time. The communcation program I have spent HOURS on and backed up numerous times went back to the factory settings. I am SO upset and frustrated and just plain tired of life right now.

Well, I'm up to 5 NSD's this month, woo hoo! That's 41% so far this month, which pleases me. I don't expect to be buying anything through the midweek, so maybe I'll get that ratio above 50% soon. What can I say, I'm a number-crunching accounting nerd!

Sapphire---Big Yellow is doing fine. I have been taking him for walks in the evening and the area doesn't seem to bother him. He has another check up on the 20th.
Redwagon---I think this allergy season is the worst. I rarely have allergies but even I have been suffering from them. Boy Wonder has been a mess with allergies.
Mitten---That serious sucks about the IPad. How frustrating!
Today was a big poopy spend day. Track season/running club is starting for the kids. They all needed new running shoes because their feet won't stop growing. But it is important to me that they do at least 1 sport a year and my youngest 2 haven't been able to play any sports this year. The sports available to them were very babyfied and they are used to being on very competive sports teams. My 11 year old son was on districts baseball and was invited to play on the traveling baseball team where we lived before. Here the baseball team has weird rules like no more than 5 runs in an inning. The football for his age is flag football and where we came from it was real tackle football. He was really disappointed in all the sports available to him here. Anyway, he has decided to do running club with my 11 year old daughter. My 15 year old will be doing track at the high school.
Tomorrow SHOULD be a NSD. (crosses fingers!)

Today was an NS. Tomorrow should be then the rest of the week will be spends. It is spring break and we are going to do some playing Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Still figuring out what we are going to do. Red- That is too bad about the lack of outlets in your kitchen. If you lived closer I'd loan you DH to fix that problem. He has rewired both his parents' and my parents' kitchens and put in a plethora of outlets. Our house was built in 1990 so has enough outlets. Except they didn't put one under the phone jack, they didn't even put one on the same wall, which is annoying, and DH says the way the wiring was done he can't just add an outlet. Sapphire- Mini-D is much better though he is complaining constantly about something being hurt. He runs over a finger with a hot wheel and thinks it needs a bandaid kind of thing. But he is a cutie. Rocky- Most of us our number crunching nerds here so we understand. Mitten- Sorry about the ipad. Hope you get a good long term solution soon!

10 NSD so far, 2 CSD
There is just so much going on I'm not thinking at all about spending money. Every time I look around my house I'm reminded how blessed I am!
Here's what's helped me recently: *should I buy tortillas, trash can liners, coffee or crackers? Not until I run out of what I have! Only exceptions here were dog food and toilet paper *making a "do not buy" list of the things I have too much of including mouth wash, cleaning rags, salt, pens, head phones, bath salts, lotion and bedding.

I have a really good way to not spend right now- I am sooo irritated with roomie that I refuse to spend at this point.
red- Can you put a tap light or something similar under your counter to give light?
There are a couple things I should pick up- but I just refuse at this point.
I am going to schedule myself a massage to see if it will help with all the stress with DM. I am also scheduling a family session with my therapist where she will go with me and hear me out and hear the therapist's take on everything. I thought hearing the doctor would be enough it hasn't.
If she doesn't follow through at that point, I will probably be leaving the boards because I will have to take a $1000+ hit to my finances and leave. She doesn't have the money to get her own place and I will not let her bring me down any further.
She's in bed with a horrible migraine today because I fussed with her yesterday that I couldn't do everything.
I'm done. My $300 Dale Jr jacket has walked, she's still defending my brother, and she does nothing. I've had it- and it's consuming my life. And unfortunately- I'm all she has.

dakota - haha thanks. Our problem is we have a nice tile backsplash, and that's where we'd need the outlets, and I really don't want to wreck it. If/when we ever get around to redoing the counters/backsplash (which I really want to do because the laminate counters are peeling) I'll definitely be adding one or two outlets!! The horrible thing is our fridge is plugged into a regular wall outlet. Talk about poor planning.
Angel - hope your allergies improve!
So we had a guy look at our AC last week, and he thought it was the pump, and he also blew out all the lines. So we replaced the pump and yesterday blue_wagon hooked it up and had it running (brrr) and it seems to be fine now. No leaking in four hours, when last fall it only took half an hour to start leaking. It also dumped a ton of water out our gutter like it used to, instead of the trickle we got last fall. I'm optimistically calling it fixed (for now). We'll see once we run it aroudn the clock in summer, but at least we're not shelling out $8k!! It was $135 for the guy and maybe $40 for the pump. Woo!
mizbear - we really wanted to put in a tap light like my parents have, but we cannot find them anywhere. Neither can they or my brother (one of mom's broke). And they'd need to be battery I think, due to outlet issue. And I hope your mom feels better! migraines are the worst!
My boss came in today, sick. Ugh. And she spent a lot of time on the phone giving her symptoms to her sister. Like we want to hear that.

red- Yes, most tap lights are battery operated- the other option would be rope lights or something similar under the counters- but you would have to wait again.
I have been fairly (knock on wood) lucky. Since they put me on my bipolar meds, I get very few migraines anymore.

Walmart on-line has several styles of tap lights. On line, ship-to-store only I think. At least I have never seen them in the store. Have you tried Amazon?

I had a chat with DM tonight when she declared that her migraine was gone. I told her that she either ad to get with the program here or had to get prepared to leave. I told her I understand that she has some medical issues and is being treated for depression- but she has to do something.
I have given her a to do list for the rest of the month and then I have assigned her what she is responsible for daily/weekly/monthly since she can't do a lot of stuff I can.

2 NSD FINALLY! I took cash budgeted for Spring Break out of the ATM yesterday so as long as I stay within budget for planned activities I will considered it a NSD.
Today we went to the library and to DS baseball practice. Tomorrow we are going to the park for a playdate with my MOMs group and they will be able to decorate cookies (FREE!!) I do plan on taking the kids to see LORAX in 3D on Thursday (ALL BUDGETED). It will be an extra special treat for them because we never go to the movies anymore. Although we did go see We Bought a Zoo at the discount $2 movies a couple weeks back. I really would like to go to a Spring Training game but I can't manage that with one good leg and three kids.
I'll and get catch up later...~Happy No Spending~

Up to 6 NSD's, so far, which raises my ratio to 46%. I'm closing in on 50%! You all are right, it is quite a motivating way to avoid spending money on little stupid things, especially when it would ruin a NS streak! ;D

1 confirmed NSD yesterday. I've been terrible at keeping track but this month has seen lots of stopping at the grocery store for last-minute items.

Afternoon all -- My work email crashed. Oh joy. No more work via email today. Let's home tomorrow is better.
mizbear -- I hope things improve soon with your DM. I also don't think you should or need to leave the boards if you need to move out. We're here to get you through the tough times. Your sanity is definitely important.

update: 13 NSD, 1 NEO, $300 in Savings. All the bills are paid for this month. I have 3 more checks coming this month so I will be all prepared for the 1st of next month unless they cut my hours and then I will have to be careful.

Rocky; Thanks but I have been here for almost 4 years and have had a "rocky road". The voices of the ladies on this thread are always with me when I go to spend money and I know I will have to tell them when I mess up. I have been wanting to get a Shark vac-then-steam but have not because I have a good sweeper and lots of rags to do the floor. Since I have linoleum floors they are easy to clean but I have 3 indoor cats, hence the screen name, I always have litter and hair all over the place.

DF got the DS#2's program back to where I had it. So happy, that was HOURs of work I was not looking forward to.
We are having beautiful weather here, breaking records all over the place. Had to break it to DS#1 that we could still get snow yet this winter. He was incredulous lol. Took him and DD and mom to the zoo. As I had free passes it cost us NOTHING to go. We had 73 degree weather there and it was a wonderful day to be there. Crowded but oh well. Tomorrow my sister is coming over with her dog before my niece gets home from school. Friday I am taking the kids to the science museum. That won't cost a lot as qualifying as low income we can get in for $3 for DS and I and DD is young enough to be free. I am looking forward to them seeing the omnitheater and their reactions. It is a pretty awesome experience to have the screen surround you.
3cats: You are doing awesome.
azmom: How long are you laid up for? Not fun with little kids!

It is 3:01 am and I haven't been to sleep yet. I have to be at work in 12 hours so I hope I get some sleep or I will have to call in sick. I can't stand cranky customers when I don't get sleep and that seems to be all we have lately. There is still a lot of stress from the new store opening because there are kinks that need to be worked out. Most of the customers are very demanding and I have trouble keeping my cool. I'd like to tell them that " it is not my fault that we ran out of the sale item. We had it yesterday and I don't know when the truck will be in to replenish." Oh well, the customer is always right and we are never right. I think I would fall over if a customer would apologize to me or any of the staff for being a pain. Sorry, it is just my frame of mind, what little I have left.

Morning -- Yesterday was a NS. Whew. I'll have to go look at my totals.
We too are having beautiful weather. It's been in the 80s all week, but we have not had the oppressive humidity we have in the summer. I've been walking outside all week. I'm off tomorrow and hope it doesn't rain as I want to head down to the Tidal Basin to see the Cherry Blossoms.
MK -- I'm with DS#1. I declared this to be a snow-free winter back in Jan maybe, but definitely last month. I think we have officially had just under 2 inches of snow; no shoveling is always a good thing for me.
3cats -- I hope you were able to get some sleep this morning before work.

Updated: 7 NSD/31 days.
One more NSD yesterday, bringing me to that 50% mark! However, I believe the streak will be broken today for a couple of small items. But the month is still young! ;D

Update 12 NSD, 3 CSD - doing well this week! I think I'll need to spend before Sunday to fill up my car with gas for trips round town. This morning has been busy cleaning the house for company tomorrow, I still need to put away some dishes and my crockpot but mostly the pile of papers on the table. always a project to do!

3 NSD I didn't spend a dime yesterday. DH took us out to dinner last night but I don't count that because I am not in control of his choices I was going to take the kids to see the Lorax today but I don't feel like it and they don't seem to be in a hurry to leave the house today so maybe I'll take them on Sunday to finish off Spring Break!

azmom- Contact the stadium and see if there is a courtesy service that could help you out. My late paternal grandparents used to go to pro games in the 80s and there was a guy in a cart who used to drive them to their seats because they both had heart problems. When I was in high school, we used the service once because my maternal grandfather had gotten me tickets for a game for my 17th birthday and I was on crutches.
Things seem to be settling down- all but DB. I have handed him a basic idea of a contract for if we can get a house. I talk to the first lender tomorrow and she is probably my best hope. I talked to her for a minute today but she had an appt so she told me to call back tomorrow. She really wants to talk to me because she says that this is the best time for me and mom to be looking. All paws crossed.

mizbear: Good luck with the house. Since I don't think DB will change his tune I would advise you to NOT have him live with you. From what I read it sounds like along with everything else he is a thief. Doesn't matter if he says he will obey the rules of the contract if he doesn't you are going to have a hell of a time getting rid of him. Not to mention you are stressed enough right now with just your DM there and her issues, I don't believe DB would be good for your health or stress levels.
sapphire: So with you! I can't shovel with my arm so if it does snow I will have to deal with trudging through the snow, and that also means carrying DS#2 to the bus and Carecab (so 4 times a day) and that won't be good for my shoulder either!
3cats: did you sleep? I have been having problems with the time change. DS#2 was up a lot later also. I hate these time adjustments.
We are having a lazy day here. Tomorrow we are going to the Science museum, then will pick up my sister's dog on the way home. Then my mom will drop my niece off after she gets home from school for the weekend. Sat we are having a small party for St Patty's day. I am making Corned Beef and it looks like I need to buy another one since more people are coming. I have green pop for the kids, I will make green jello and have friends bring Irish Beer. I may have one make dessert as he is a wonderful cook and baker!

*sighs* I had carefully gone through the last week's worth of posts and had pertinent and hopefully helpful comments for people ... then my stupid computer "blipped" and I lost them all. At times I really dislike technology. Anyway, I am on the short list for a great sounding long term contract position at $25/hour - which would let me not have to dip into my savings except occasionally. My one concern about taking a temporary / contract position is the benefits part. Once I stop accepting Unemployment Insurance I will also loose the subsidy for my COBRA payments. My medical insurance payments is the main reason I am reluctant to let two other agencies place me with temp positions paying only $11-!15 per hour. That would work out to just about what I am getting from Unemployment - but without the premium assistance benefit. Any thoughts from anyone On a spending note .... I purchased a new mattress, box spring, mattress cover and pillow yesterday. Including tax and a Saturday delivery date the total came to just under $700. One part of me was almost sick writing out a check for that much money. I guess it is just another sign of how really frugal I have become. On the other hand - I had planned on using part of my income tax refund to replace my bedding. I am not sleeping well and wake up with a sore back most morning. Then I started thinking about just how old my mattress was .. and realized that as much as I would like to think differently - nothing lasts forever. As for my Estate Planning project - I have an appointment next week to meet with an attorney. And have contacted my insurance agent to discuss Life Insurance. Since I don't have dependents to take into consideration I only need enough to cover final expenses like cremation and internment. Saturday is National Quilting Day - so I need to think of what I will do to "celebrate". I am planning on having an early dinner at a local Irish pub that does really great Corned Beef and Cabbage. Then get home before the "amateur drunks" start getting in their cars.

MK; I slept about 3 hours and that is not enough for me. I slept from 6:30 to around 10. I have been up walking the floor and taking things out to the garbage. I think I am going to get some more things out to the garbage and then try to lay down for a bit. I find that if I do not get at least 6 hours, I am a bitch. With the way the customers are I don't want to take the chance of getting fired for talking back to one so I stayed home.

Honey- I can not go without my medical because of my medical issues and my medicaton costs are outrageous so my opinon is quite skewed on the subject. I believe you are doing the right thing to stick to your guns. The more I listen to my DB the less guilty I feel for not having him here. My uncle wanted to know if it was possible that my jacket was placed in a donation bag by accident since it was a men's jacket. I told him it was possible, but it was in my old room and it didn't disapear until after DB came home and he was dating druggy ex-GF. Uncle suggested instead of getting worked up over the jacket to just forget about it, make sure everything at my current place is secure and to save up fo clothes that will look fabulous on me as I lose weight- and maybe treat myself to a new NASCAR jacket after I get done losing weight because my current leather will no longer fit me and will need to be replaced also. I am so glad to have such wonderful friends.
