Yeah it is sucky when it happens that way. I finally got better when a nasty sinus infection forced me to take another week off. I wanted to do something last night but my breathing was messed up. I feel better this morning so hopefully it is that way for my run.

That could be fun! I'm still doing intervals, but fun nonetheless! DF and I will be in Baltimore next Saturday, actually. ;D One of my managers at work has been yapping about those damn Phillies fans coming to town I'm not done with intervals either. I'm getting there. Alicia found a zombie 5k that looked awesome but the entry fee was like $75 and it was filling up pretty quickly. we're like cockroaches - f'ing everywhere! ;D

Went to the local running store and got some new shoes. They are Asics gel nimbus 13's or something with a super long name. But they are awesome! I jogged down the street to test them out and I couldn't feel any pain in my foot at all! I think my New Balance's were just worn out and didn't have enough cushion for my foot. Can't wait to get running again! Of course, I came home and discovered I could have gotten them $30 cheaper online, but supporting a local small business is my good deed for the day, I guess. Plus now I know that these are what I need next time around!

I think Asics were one of the pairs they gave me to try. They were $130. I ended up getting the Saucony Ride 4s, they were $100 in store and online. I want them in pink and black too. The Brooks Ghost ones were $100 both places. I felt an immediate difference with them while running. On Fridays we can wear jeans and tennis shoes to work. I wore a pair that was not the right type for running to work since I got 3 brand new pairs in January. It was $100 for all 3 so not too much of a loss. Forgot my wallet at home and had to go back. Ran from car up steps to my apt door. By the time I locked door back my knee was screaming at me. I should stay off Zappos. The pink/black Sauconys have been marked down to $75. He said they were worse than Red Sox fans

My DD got Mizunos at $170 for a foot problem. Way out of my price range. Then I complain about foot and lower leg issues. I changed the insoles in my golf shoes and hope they can carry me 18 holes tomorrow. I was off golf for 7 days due to bad weather. I will make shoe decisions from that point. I am unhappy because my arms look flacid and untoned. It's age related and I have to stay on the fitness nonstop. This also happens when I switch routines. On the plus side, at my age, I am doing great.

My DD got Mizunos at $170 for a foot problem. Way out of my price range. Then I complain about foot and lower leg issues. Good shoes are a lifesaver. For $20/25 a month (new pair $80-100 every 4 months), running isn't that expensive of a hobby. Well, I can make it expensive because I want a running belt, some new clothes, etc., but the shoes are the really only good thing you need (and some good moisture-wicking socks, but those can be as little as $6 for two or three pair from Walmart). I realize now that my shoes were wearing out - when I first got them, all of my leg aches and knee pains went away overnight and really never came back. Over the last month, I have been having some shin pain and aches that lasted longer than normal - I should have known my shoes were wearing out.

when you find something you like check running warehouse, they usually have free shippping and free returns and i have a 15% off promo code that still seems to be working "PlanOD" they are usually cheaper than a lot of places too
did the Kriedersburg Covered Bridge 5K...holy heck...it hurt. massive hills, good training course, and I'm dumb enough to do it again next year. did not have a personal best, for for as hard as the course was my 26:30 is ok by me.
need to bring my weights upstairs so in the evening i can do arms. If i was smart I'd just add the 100 pushups a day to my routine, but i'm still being lazy.
I know there are a lot of runs near philly...and I'm not against a bit of a drive. As for Hershey, FI's family lives in York so we go out there every now and again, so if it's hunting season, most likely I can convince him to go out there since we have friends with lots of property we can hunt on.
I had the asics, but they don't fit my feet right, they are too long, and if I go a size smaller to tight...but they are cushy. So far I'm liking my Nike+ (never thought I'd wear Nike shoes) and I like my Brooks. The Brooks are a little heavier so I train in those, and race in the Nike's.
Running wouldn't be expensive if it weren't for all the races we sign up for, but lately a lot of them have been giving out really nice technical T's...though the one before last, the sizes were way off, so I gave it to FI, bummed because it was white and I wanted a white one. But this last one I got a shirt and a tank.

I am resting today because of a headache from a front blowing through. I can reduce eating on rest days so that helps. I am going to jump over to Livestrong and find a solution to ab fat.
I got a pair of golf shoes from e-bay. They do weigh more than what I have now.

I've gone back to doubles on Saturdays, running and swimming. And now that the kids are out of school, I think the pool will be set up for long course (meters) more often now. I like it that way myself. I think it's less work, though some people just hate the longer lanes.

I'm not running this week courtesy of the dog knocking me off my feet and head first into the door molding and giving me a mild concussion. I wish we only had cats.

I hope you feel better soon! One of my boxers full force headbutted me once when I was picking his frisbee up off the ground (he really wanted to play!) and it dropped me to my knees. I think I am getting a headache just thinking about it! Anyway - take care of yourself!

I certainly felt the effects of long course swimming this morning. It was a drag. Literally. But the meters set-up is twice a week through mid-August, so there's no point in complaining. Actually, fewere people show up for practice, so there is more room.
I think it might be time for new running shoes. When my knees start to bother me, a new pair of shoes usually takes care of the problem. Not that I like plunking down triple digits for shoes, but the good ones are totally worth it.

Heck, it's too hot in June, July and August here. September too, for that matter. I still run (have a run planned for tomorrow; in fact, my running gear is already out and ready), but I don't race again until October.
I was thinking about a swim meet at the end of this month, but I've decided against it. I just don't think I'm good enough to spend the money and do all that driving, only to come away with nothing. I'd like to go to a meet, just not this next one.

I was soaked in sweat yesterday after 18 holes of golf, and the temperature when we ended at 12:15 p.m. was low 70s. Temperature today is nearly 70, breezy and cool.
Today is house cleaning and wash the car. I'm still tired from yesterday. One more session at Afit and I will have my 12 in for the ins. wellness program.

Oh, I love San Diego! Not a big fan of most of California, but I did love San Diego and San Francisco.
Did a short run this morning and swam afterward. I'm definitely looking at new running shoes. I think these are breaking down, for sure.

since we started moving 1.5 weeks ago, I've been really off the wagon (I have no room to exercise at home because there are boxes everywhere, and we've been averaging 3-4 times a week for takeout/restaurant food.). Today I went for a brisk 35 minute walk at lunch and I started using myfitnesspal again. I gotta get rid of this "moving weight"!

Got our swim practice in before the all-day rains began. Not sure if the pool will be long- or short-course tomorrow (depends on whether or not the kids' teams practice tonight; they are the ones that do the changeover).
Since it's staying light out longer, I'm thinking about adding a bike ride after dinner one or two nights a week. Nothing very long, just a neighborhood fun kind of ride. I'd start tonight, if the rains end later on. Radar is not looking promising, though.

I have been wearing ankle socks on that hilly golf course. It makes a difference on my feet and all the way up to my knees. I won't need to buy those sport support socks.
I used a 15 y.o. golf ball that isn't made anymore and got an 87 today. It's been years since I scored that low. Nice with a cool breeze.

So I did the bike ride last night. Not a long one - less than five miles. Followed by the best night's sleep I've had in many months.
So....back to light workouts a few nights a week. I have no idea where I am going to fit the time. But I'll get it done, even if I have to start using a daily written schedule to do it.

Another afternoon in recovery from exercise. I started with washing my car by hand, regular workout at Afit then 1 hour of tennis drills. My face was purple hot when I got done. I walked around and did some stretches before getting in the car.
2 hours later I remembered I wanted to take a photo of flowering daisies growing out of a crack in the cement.
My DS brought his dog over who is recovering from tendon surgery. That dog smiled so big when he saw where he was going. I said at least one of my GrKids like me ;D

on the serious, I have been in maintance wih my execise and eating.....I gained maybe 1 lb since moving and stuff and consider that a victory with all my stress and stuff....I been good about running (since I can do that anywhere), i try to run 40 minutes every day regardless....if I have access to a treadmill , track, known distance I try to run 6 miles a day, if not that, than 40 minutes runnning and I figure that's good...I have averaged 30 minues of wights 3 times a week.....I haven't stressed my eating too much but I try not to eat too much crap....I figure a 1lb gain I can live with, and when I help MJ with her "movin weight" I suspect my 1 lb gain will disappear as well

So....thinking about upcoming swim meets....one of them has an 800 freestyle...that's 16 lengths of a 50 meter (Olympic-length) pool. It's the same weekend as when I have family in town, and it's the last event on a Sunday. Not the best timing, but I am thinking about it.
Later in the year (December) there's a meet with both an 800 and a 1500 in it....definitely want to do that one.

So as most of you know...I am attempting to take up running. I have gotten up 2 mornings in a row now to run with Goose and DSD. I am a hot mess trying to run. I haven't puked yet, but I also haven't actually ran more than 1/2 mile yet either. I am starting off slow is all I can say! Today I hurt like a MOFO! It hurts to sit and pee! Everything just HURTS. I may have to take tomorrow off, we will see.

Imanangel: I would suggest a warm up stretching and cool down stretching. For you shins if they hurt, sit down on a chair and run your fingers down each side of your shin toward your foot. A frozen wash cloth in a baggy to wipe your face might help.

I was/am sick of my pouchy tummy. Dr. Oz suggested a week-long eating idea of 1 cup of beans with Evening Oil of Primrose (GLA) at each meal or spaced out during the day.
On day 3, I bought two kinds of dry beans, soaked overnight, and cooked them together. I froze them is 3 cup packages for use later in the week.
Today is my 7th day and I do feel like my jiggle has gone down. Other than appearance, I have no way of measuring this. My waist bands are a bit looser.
I no longer have what felt like a small internal lump 3 inches below my belly button. It felt more like trapped gas. The abdominal fat can get around your intestime area. It doesn't take much.
I did experience a lot of gassiness. I started by putting on liquid Beano. I also added charcoal capsules and chlorophyll to decrease any odor; and elminated eggs, so they didn't add to the problem. If the gas really annoyed me, I would drink baking soda water then started sprinkling a small amount of baking soda on the beans.
I didn't change my eating in any other way than eliminating eggs and adding the beans/Evening Oil of Primrose supplement. My body weight did not decrease.
I have 17 days until a grS wedding and would like a slimmer tummy. I will probably take a week off the beans/EOP then start again. During that week I am going to use grapefruit extract at each meal and increase protein.
