Last double digit run today before my marathon! 12 miles on the treadmill because of two snowstorms this week. Barf!

I wish I could tell you how delighted I am that you quit smoking. I know how hard that is.
I chuckled at the lady in the weight room. Nice way to meet the ladies. ;D

My arm hurts from patting myself on the back. I did the precor on a day when I had already told myself yesterday was enough. Yes, it sounds weird but I never said I wasn't, ummm, unique.

Back to the pool to prep for a swim meet later this month. Still deciding on a 5K to do. There are two of them on the 19th, both are hill courses. Yeah, I know, I live in flat-as-a-pancake country. But we do have manmade hills, drawbridges, etc. I like the challenge of a hill course. And a friend is taking me to lunch on the 19th, which means I need incentive to go eat.
Oh, and guess what? There's a 5K/10K run coming up next month about 40 minutes from my house. You will never guess who's sponsoring this one? Would you believe Five Guys Burgers and Fries???!!

I was on vacation for 11 days, so no gym for me during that time (my gym is at the office). However, I did manage to do 30 minutes/day of pilates most of those 11 days (I think 7/11), so I at least did something!

I finished but it wasn't pretty. I got the flu on my flight down to Florida on Thursday. I was out with that all day Friday. Then I got a cold and terrible cough that I still haven't kicked. I really couldn't eat anything but stayed hydrated. Friday I was worried that I wouldn't even be able to start, but Saturday I felt better. On a good day, when it wasn't 85 with 90% humidity and I wasn't recovering from the flu, I think I could run under 5 hours. On Sunday, I ran 6:42:53 in the 20th Disney Marathon. At mile 2, Jack Sparrow and Barbosa were out (there are characters all along the course), and I decided that time didn't matter, that I was running for fun, and that I was stopping for pictures. I think I stopped for 14 characters in all. I haven't checked my garmin yet, but I think that probably added 30 minutes to my time. It was so hot - I drank somewhere around 150 ounces of water while running and didn't go to the bathroom! That is how hot it was and how much I was sweating. At mile 16, I realized I finished my 20 mile training run faster. Haha. And my feet were killing me. I think because we were running on mostly highways with pavement and I ran all of my long runs on trails. Not sure, I have done 13 miles on pavement. The race was great from the start until mile 14, when it went to highway, got hot, and got boring. I thought it was boring until mile 22 or so when we went back into the parks. I think I will probably run another one, just to see what I can do when I am not sick and haven't eaten in two days. Haha. In one sense, it is disappointing because I trained so hard and it went so well and I could have run a lot faster. On the other hand, I had fun, finished, and got my medal. Yesterday my feet hurt, today my quads hurt. But I walked around the parks both yesterday after the marathon and all day today, so it isn't stopping me.

Congrats!!!! Way to power through it and great job on the training. You never would have been able to make it through the race without the dedication you put in.
Hope you feel better.

Great job on finishing Steph! My running future is questionable at the moment. Physical therapist says my knees are not made for running. He also thought the surgeon should have given me injections in my hip abductor muscles. I guess I will see what a month of physical therapy does for me.

Well done, Steph!
I am waiting for an update from a friend of mine who was there. He did not run, but friends of his (husband, wife and the kids) did.

Aw, Steph! Sorry you were sick, but it's so rad that you ran your first marathon under the weather! That is some dedication!
I signed up for my first 10k today. I've gotten lazy the past couple of months, so I think this will be my motivation to not wait until spring to get serious about running again. It's the Hershey 10k and it's on my sister's birthday and she convinced me to do it. Who the hell wants to run on their birthday?!

LOL, Meghan. I usually run a 5K on or close to my birthday; it's a charity even that I happen to like that always falls the last Saturday of April or the first Saturday of May, so it's inevitably hits my birthday some years.
I've got a 5K with hills (on a golf course) this Saturday and a swim meet next Saturday. After that, at least one race in February, then a major swim meet the first week of March. The March meet includes three long events (500, 1000 and 1650 freestyle).

Way to overcome, Steph. Today I did the American Heart Ass'n. Zumba/Body Attack session. There was a $5 donation at the door. Nearly everyone wore something red and had a great time. My friend didn't show up but I did know some peeps. All of us got a goodie bag which included a day pass to the facility and a red dress pin. There were a lot of nice door prizes but I didn't win anything this year. I did have 3 liquids with me even though water and juice were available. I realized that my gym bag to carry the 2 waters and my paddle lock could be a source of ridicule since no one else does this. My 3rd liquid is coffee.

Hey guys, can anyone recommend a weight loss message board? The mods on current one I'm post on gets their panties in a wad too easily. If you can, out of respect of Moon, could you PM it to me? And a side note: I'm not interested in Weight Watchers.
