I bet 2.32 miles at gym doesn't count I need to find a new place anyone. The one near my house isn't so good. The lady cut my toenails way too short the only time I was there. I'm an expert at cutting toenails

I'm down almost 12 pounds. Woo hoo! I think I'm at a good point to start switching up my routine now. I need more weight/strength training, but I also signed up for yoga through work ($40 for an 8-week session) and I may sign up for piloxing through work as well. If I sign up for both classes, it's only $60, so why the heck not?
The weight loss is great and all, but I gotta tone this bitch up!

It's a combo of pilates and boxing. I guess it's the new up-and-coming thing, but for $20 what not try it?

well, I forced myself to go the the Y last night. I really just wanted to go home and go to sleep. It was starting to rain so I decided to run on the treadmill.
I walked at 4.2/hr for .25 mile as a warm up. Then I bumped the speed up to 6.0. I ran the first mile and bumped my speed a little more to 6.2 and finished the 2nd mile of my run. I wanted to run at a 10 min mile pace for 3.1 miles. I was having a tough time when when this song started playing on my MP3
my treadmill 5k time was 30:12 ;D
I walked and ran a total of 5.6 miles in 65 minutes. Not bad considering I was just going to go home.

Peach: Good for you on the w.o. I do like the song. -------- I played and walked 18 holes of golf yesterday for the first time. The greats are I did not overheat nor get too tired. My hands and feet held up fine. I ate a PBJ (black currant jam) sandwich before the back 9. The grass is dead, the course is hilly, and makes the carts hard to push.
Today, I went to A-Fit. After weights, I wanted to read so got on the recumbent bike and set it to fat loss and entered age. I tried to up the target HR and the program wouldn't let me. I get aggravated wasting time trying to set the machines so I count that time as part of the w.up.
The machine stayed on the lowest setting even though the screen showed alternating between low and about 10. Then, during the cool down the machine resets to level 6. wtf? The distance showed 5 miles and not even 100 calories burned. HR was in the fat burning range for an easy 30 mins. In the larger range of life, so what, I did it. I'll be back tomorrow.
The eye candy was an added bonus.

good job Artemis! Mom's DH plays golf 5 or 6 days/week. He's in his 70s and the senior club champion. He doesn't take any prescription meds. Hope I can say the same when I reach his age. I too get frustrated trying to set the programs on those stupid cardio machines at the gym. Do you think that makes us burn more calories?

Do I think what makes us burn more calories? Frustration - yes from mental stress. Cadio machines - yes and they burn more if you do them last instead of first.
I wwaayy overdid myself at the gym this afternoon. On the History Channel they were showing my temple at Ephesus so I had to watch.
(The old bat on EE took my spell check, too)

I went to Loft on my lunch break to finally start the dreaded process of trying on clothes and figuring out what size I am now. I tried on a pair of pants that were 10s and they buttoned, so I bought the damn things. I can really stand to tone my belly or lose a few more pounds for them to fit better, but who cares! They buttoned!

Started running again sporadically with a co-worker, while my pace is faster than hers, it got me out there running and now we are signed up for 6 races. We did our first 5K on March 18th, my goal was 28 and i got 27.30. we just did a 4 mile race with lots of hills and i was at 36 min...i kind of am upset with myself on that one, i know i could have run faster but wasn't feeling it.
weather permitting we run 3-4 times a week, and i run with FI the hilly trail by our house. have 2 1/2 weeks before the next 5K.

Great workouts everyone. I think I am down a couple of pounds but our scale is goofy - +3 lbs is actually zero and it's sitting on 5lbs at zero. The one at Afit is downright nasty to me. The end result is it's better not to know. It's better to grab the brown belly fat and jiggle it when I crave chocolate candy. I get adequate chocolate from light chocolate Silk at 90 calories per 8 ounces. I am going to order the Raspberry Ketone supplement and African Mango powder. Dr. Oz says that helps increase energy output to burn calories. My self-esteem must be better because I care about my body weight again. Today he had the author of The Lean on. She eats 2 cups of brown rice for breakfast with dates and a handful of almonds. In my calculation that is almost 1000 or more calories. That won't show up on my food tracking list. The carb filled bun that they put the low cal vegan Philly Cheesesteak in almost had me bolting from the room.

Got a 10K race tomorrow morning. It includes one of the longer drawbridges in town. Not the highest elevation bridge, just a long one. It's out and back and it's early in the race. I hope that's a good thing.

Ran my first 10k this morning! I have never run a race before, and it just happened that the 10k fell earlier in the year than the 5k, so I signed up!
My goal was under one hour and 15 minutes (treadmill pace), though my "dream" goal was under one hour.
Well, I finished at 1:00:20!!! Ahhh! 21 seconds over my goal! But I did get 3rd place in my age group, which I was pretty proud of! Now for under 1 hour at the next 10k!

The time has come to choose a weight training program for the next 6 weeks. To add interest I think I will do kettle bells next week then rotate through the last two programs My warm up will be an old tummy trimmer sequence.
I'll need a lot of "wiggle or jiggle" room during the summer in the routines because of golf.

That's awesome Alicia! Keep up the good work! Let us know how you do on your next race.. what is your goal on that one? 1st 5K ran it in 27:30 min 4 miler ran in 36 min (it was a hilly courses) we just ran what was supposed to be a 5K, it was actually 3.7 miles, we ran in the rain, the course wasn't marked well so i had to slow down and ask for directions...but i ran it in 32 something...my actual pace went down from my first 5K, so i was happy about that and i won first place for my age group. have 2 weeks off and then we have 2 5Ks back to back. going to take it easy on the saturday one because i want to do my best on the one on sunday, the wounded warrior 5K, FI is running on our team, and i want to kick his rear....

I am so far off the running wagon it isn't even funny. I ran a 5k over the weekend and I ran it in a decent time, but Sunday I was paying for pushing myself too hard. My back hurt, my calves were cramping up and I was exhausted. Ugh.

wow. I'm so impressed with all of you. I went on a food bender this weekend, so I'm just trying to get back on the wagon with my eating and such. I took a moderately paced walk this afternoon for about 35 mins. I just need to get to bed at a decent hour so I can get up and work out.

I only did one run last week. Stupid sinus infection has me drowning in snot. I'm going tonight and Wednesday. Friday is out of the question as I'll be driving home. I'm thinking Saturday and Monday after the dentist and before I come back to MD.
I backed off my time/distance in an effort to make the dumb pain around my ankle go away.

I can finally get back to my workout routine this week after two super busy weeks at work! I barely worked out the past week and a half, but I'm still down on the scale! I jogged/walked 3.8 miles on Saturday, so I am definitely ready for my 5k in DC next weekend. It's supposed to be a walk, but I am going to try to run as much of it as I can. I have until July to fully embrace running a 5k. ;D Total weight lost (since January): 17 pounds!

MM I'm running on a treadmill. I ditched incline and got new shoes from a running store where they check you out. Ankle and knee I didn't really notice today and got in 2.52 miles of run/walk which is a new best for me.
I've taken days off, eaten advil like it was candy and iced it. It is much better this week. I will see in tomorrow. I only ran Friday last week bc of schedule and my sinus infection. When it was bothering me the steps down out of my apt in the morning made me cuss.
I know its good for me but its gotten expensive! I should buy stock in Under Armour. I was dying in cotton shirts so I bought more heat gear shirts.

Ankle and knee I didn't really notice today and got in 2.52 miles of run/walk which is a new best for me. You gotta start somewhere! Good work on the new best! I can't stand the treadmill. I seriously quit after five minutes because it's so boring to me. For some reason, the elliptical isn't as boring so I use that at the gym. But when I go for joggy-walks around town I do so much better because I'm constantly telling myself to run to the next stop sign or keep going until I reach a certain landmark. I do need to go to a running store and get my feet measured and get better sneakers. I know I need better sneakers, so I bought those gel sport insoles to tide me over until I save the money to get better sneakers. They made my sneaks feel better, but now I have a nice blister on the back of my left ankle. Oy. Looks like I'm spending money sooner than later!

I think I got most of my shirts in the $18-25 range. I have enough now. I had plenty of shorts but the regular tshirts weren't cutting it. I bought a couple sports bras but they weren't that bad. I will look at Kohls next time they put out coupons.
I used to run outside on a trail with hills and stuff. Air quality here is god awful and I'd have to find some place to do it. I had a place in Rockville like that then I moved. And their air quality's not so bad down there so I was doing it.
I've been sort of following couch to 5k. I can't seem to add time up correctly so I set treadmill time then its not right. I end up with one big 10 minute run at the end. I'm doing it though so thats progress.
I trick myself into getting to the next .05 miles or doing 15 seconds longer, etc. When I think I'm dying in the ten minutes I tell myself its only so many more minutes.
