18 miles today - felt a lot better (and was 6 minutes faster) than Saturday's 17-miler! I got caught in a downpour between miles 9-12 but soon came to the dry area where it hadn't rained at all and finished out the last six miles. I felt great, surprisingly because this was my highest mileage week and I was sore all week from the 17-miler.

I back to being a fat bloated cow. I haven't been running. Awhile back I twisted my knee or something..it just felt swollen every time I tried to run. UGH. So I took time off and now I am back to being a fat/bloated cow. It doesn't help that my 2 daughters have totally messed up my hormonal cycle. UGH. I need to get back to the gym. It has been cold and rainy outside and I do not like running in the cold and rain. I can run on the treedmill or work out on the elipitcal since that is easier on my knees. LIAR! I see the pictures you post on FB and you look great! Yes, be active, but don't be so hard on yourself! I seem to have plateaued at 29 pounds lost, but I'm totally cool with that. I never had a specific number goal as much as a symbolic goal. I got lazy for a couple of weeks and then I ordered new running shoes on Amazon that I swear were defective, so that kind of made me lazy. I love my Pumas so I decided to save money and ordered them, but these ones felt like I was wearing wooden boards. Of course, I got them the week DF and I went on a cleaning binge and threw out the box, so I couldn't return them. I finally bought insoles the other week and I was able to run on the treadmill with no issue. Lesson learned, I'll just go to the running store for my sneakers. Now that it's getting cold and I am a weather sissy, I started my winter routine of pilates, gym (cardio), and weights. I lost a good amount of weight so it's time to tone this bitch up!

Just wanted to say that now that I am settled in I am back to my work out regiment.
I just found a powerlifting gym near my job, going to check it out later today and sign up.
All is well in my world.

Going to the running store was a great help to me. I could have gotten them a little cheaper online but not by much. I am a little more settled in and they just opened a branch of my gym close to my new place. I transferred my membership there and one of my roommates signed up last night. I have an awesome space in my house for free weights and that type of thing. Tons of mirrors too for checking form. Time to use it!

I purchased the original shoes from a running store and loved them, so i figured id order my next pair online, which was the total failure. So much for saving money because I'll never purchase running shoes online again! Scratch that, I will never go on a cleaning binge and throw away packaging and receipts again!

Must have been an odd pair or something. That sucks though! I ended up buying two pairs online from sports authority. The first pair was fine but they were stolen from my car. I replaced them and that pair was fine as well. It is nice to try them on in a store where they know their stuff though and can guide you.

I am in the process of using up my old weight loss supplements. So far I fnished off Garcinia Camboga and might go back to that again. I finished grapefruit extract. I am finishing Raspberry Ketone. I have a new promise-in-a-bottle of green coffee bean extract.
My apestat is broken and an apetite curber helps.
A regular schedule with little or no travel will help the December fitness plan.

I have been keeping up with my running pretty well. I start my marathon training in a couple of weeks. i ran a 5k yesterday and was happy with my time (22:47) but I think I could have gotten down around 22:00, but I was running with a friend for the first mile.

Archie, there's not a thing wrong with that time, either the one you just did or the one you're aiming for. I'd be happy (and dreaming) to have either one.
My last competition of any kind for the year is a 10K on Dec. 15. I have surgery scheduled for Dec. 26, and cannot use aspirin or ibuprofen after Dec. 16, hence the timing of the race. I'll be off training for as long as it takes to heal - a week at most, I hope. I should still be able to do some walking.

I'm on week 13 out of 18 of my marathon training, and I am getting worn down! I'm on my sixth week of over 30 miles/week and I can definitely feel it! I have 2 more weeks over 30 after this and then I can finally taper! And I know 30 really isn't a lot for other people who are marathon training, but it is a lot for me! And I am hungry all the time! Got 6 miles in yesterday, 5 in today. I have one more 5 miler this week and then 19 this weekend. Weather is beautiful here in PA right now! Of course, tomorrow it will be snowing!

I've got a seven-mile run planned for Saturday; I have a 10K on 12/15. And in preparation for the pain, I've started drinking a bit of cherry juice each day, since it's supposed to help deal with inflammation in general. Just a small amount, since there is some sugar in it. I'll be curious to see if it helps.

If I ran as much as Steph, I'd be exhausted, too. I am doing kettlebells and a get fit cardio rotation but don't know if it's working other than I am doing it. That is the key to a fitness plan - doing it. I shrank a couple of lbs. It's too early to tell if it's the green coffee bean extract or better eating habits or both.

Remind me in 6 months that I wanted to do this. ; )

I meet with the gym trainer tomorrow night. I also see an orthopedic surgeon about my knee tomorrow. It acts up every time I run and it is way worse this time. I'm guessing it will the eliptical for me for awhile.
I do like my new gym and it is very close to the house.

Archie, congrats on getting it started!!
WV, I hope that rest and nonsurgical treatment cure what ails you. Bad knees are no joke.
I have a 10K Saturday. Just a short (for me) swim this morning, (1,400 yards) due to a stress test. Docs were very happy with the results - clean heart, no blockages or buildups.

Well I have the plan from the gym trainer. Now to remember everything lol.
Surgeon's report is the xrays are all clear. Hip abductors among other muscles need some major strengthening. I've given up on trying to differentiate between times per week and total weeks on the physical therapy script.
No running, no hills and no steps till after physical therapy releases me. Physical therapy, ice, advil and a compression knee brace for me.
The very best part of this brace is after wearing it this afternoon, I discovered I am allergic to the material. It is just the seam that is really bugging me so I need to find a way to cover it. I'm not having much luck finding a seamless one designed like mine.

WV: the physical therapy will work.
I keep after my knees and lower back. I was banned from the treadmill 2 y.a. by a chiro.
Do you have a latex allergy? Latex is in anything rubber and most neoprene.
My update is I did do a workout today while watching the CT tragedy unfold. I forgot to stretch out and skipped cardio.

OK, 10K done. Still sore today, but no more ibuprofen products now, thanks to upcoming surgery. Now I just have to live with it. I did earn myself a nasty blister on one toe, thanks to a sock that was not on straight. I popped it and medicated it and covered it. And did run a short (three mile) run today. Nothing fast.

Latex is in anything rubber and most neoprene. My update is I did do a workout today while watching the CT tragedy unfold. I forgot to stretch out and skipped cardio. I thought I only had an adhesive allergy. Some reading leads me to think that I do indeed have a rubber allergy which would include latex among other things. It is mainly after contact over a time period that I notice rashes and things. It does explain a very nasty rash from a sports bra I thought was heat rash when I'd been doing physical labor outside one day. The gauze underneath has been helping. My mom works as a surgery nurse and is getting me some stuff they put under casts to try out. I hope the therapy does help. I am waiting till after Christmas due to my travels. The brace does help as does Advil and ice when I remember. Being out of my three story house over the holidays should help.

Sound like you have a good handle on what your needs are. I, somehow, inflammed my right knee. I did go x.c. skiing on Saturday but didn't notice any issues. This morning I restarted yoga and the kneeling back bend got both my knees and I couldn't do the move. My knees had been no issue for over a year. I went ahead to the gym but stayed off the aerobic machines and did my knee workout when I finished. I now have my magnetic support brace on, took ibuprofen, and rested this afternoon. That knee support is so attractive for tennis in the morning.

I got my 20 mile run in this morning! I was worried about the snowstorm rolling in, but it hasn't yet so I was able to go run! It was cold and slightly snowy and very windy, but it is done and I actually feel like I can complete the marathon! 3 weeks to go! Taper Time!!

We will be in the low forties by tomorrow morning, which will be good running weather. I'm planning on 4-5 miles. Assuming the pool will open (the air temperature has to reach 45 degrees for the covers to come off), I will put in an hour's swim as well. No competitions coming up immediately; surgery is next Wednesday, and I have to let the doctor make the decision on what happens.

Slammed those Xmas treats in the freezer and booted up a fitness CD that I got through almost completely. My plank is still weak but coming along.

I'll be walking for the next few days, due to surgery. No running or swimming allowed. Stitches come out Monday, and we will see from there.
