Nice work everyone! Even if we all didn't make our goals a lot of us did and the rest of us at least made some progress.
Well, I am ready to start saving goals for 2013. We are ending 2012 with a whole bunch of medical expenses including the baby and DH's disk fusion surgery. So, I am on maternity leave and he has been off work recovering. We had planned for my maternity leave, but not for him to decide to have surgery so quickly. We budget last month's income for the next month's expenses, so this month was covered. Next month may be interesting as he was off work for 2.5 weeks and now he is only able to work part time and do a slow ramp up to full time. I may have to do some major budget hacking!
I wrote my 2013 savings goals in September, so I am going to look at them again and decide if I think I have everything. Hopefully we can make some progress on the house down payment next year so we only have to rent for a couple of years.
Will we be posting 2013 here? or starting a new thread for it?

Rocky - Will you be the one starting the new Savers thread for 2013? I have the wording of the opening posts saved if you need them. (I don't know if you can cut and paste from someone else's post.)

Rocky - Your reply to Mak sounded so confident I thought you had plans to do that. Someone, I don't remember who, asked me for the opening info at the beginning of last year and started the 2012 thread in captainredracer's name. If you know how to start a new thread, and if most Savers want to start a new thread for 2013, I'd say go for it.

I think it is nice to start a new thread each year as it makes it easier to find our info etc and everyone has their goals listed right at the beginning.
Norway: It is easy to start a new thread. Go to the main WIRR page and click on "New Thread" in the upper right corner. Then all you need to do is copy in the info for the beginning pages into the first few posts.

Rocky....I think you have to put all the page 1 info from this thread at the beginning before people start posting.

UPDATEI'm not even close to reaching my savings goals. I had an expensive rental repair and that threw me off. The expense was paid for without using credit though so that is good. I'm expecting a "bonus" check and an expense reimbursement check later this month so I will be updating again. I hope to make my Emergency Fund goal. I'm still planning on fulfiling the Rental savings, HSA, IRA and additional retirement savings but that will have to be done in 2013 in addition to my 2013 savings goals. Fund | Goals | 1/1/2012 | Current | % Met | Addl Retirement -2012 | $9,000 | $0 | $2,250 | 25.00% | Rental savings | $14,186 | $180 | $2,585 | 18.22% | IRA - 2012 | $5,000 | $0 | $1,500 | 30.00% | Health Svgs -2012 | $3,100 | $0 | $0 | 0.00% | Emergency Fund | $29,400 | $498 | $19,850 | 67.52% | Vacation (Sept 2012) | $4,712 | $0 | $4,712 | 100.00% | IRA - 2011 | $5,000 | $0 | $5,000 | 100.00% | Health Savings -2011 | $3,050 | $0 | $3,050 | 100.00% | Holding account | | $0 | $0 | | Total | $73,448 | $678 | $38,947 | 53.03% | |
I'm going to start working on my 2013 savings plan. FemaleSam 12/16/12 $38,947 (1/1/12 $678, Goal $73,448)

I'm excited for a new year almost being here! I'll have to ponder how I will do my savings for next year. I think I will make a goal for how much I will most likely save in a year for each category.

Feel free to blame it on my old age. For the record I'm 44 but 21 of those years has been teaching middle school so that's kind of accelerated my brain fade. I have Senior Moments all the time, I joke with my kids that those moments are my Brain Farts. Fortunately, they don't stink. ;D

That's awesome!!! Way to go Savers! Thank you for making me accountable and motivating me.
I have one more deposit to do, but I think I'll wait until after the 1st so it doesn't mess up our totals.
Thanks to everyone one for the work they do to keep this group going. It's very appreciated.

I need to pay bills tomorrow so I'll do my transfer then and do an update. I'm going to take my checking account down to $1.00 for the end of the year and transfer the rest to savings. So excited to keep moving forward in 2013.

I am debt free. We own our home and both of our cars. We have no bills that can't be paid by the end of the month. It is a very freeing way to live.

I would like to rejoin the group. It has been nuts lately. I am looking forward to the new year even though my job is going to be going through changes. I am hoping for the best (and preparing for the worst).

I would like to rejoin the group. It has been nuts lately. I am looking forward to the new year even though my job is going to be going through changes. I am hoping for the best (and preparing for the worst). onmywaynow: 12/26/12 $700 (Goal= $10,000) Went down in savings, but staying out of debt! It's all good! Hello there!!! Welcome back! I think you should post on the 2013 thread - I think the Savers are wrapping up 2012.
