Staples question
For those who are more Staples-savvy than I am, can you tell me how the rewards work?
Frugal Suz has some nice deals posted on her blog about items that you get the purchase price back as Staples Rewards.
So, if a buy an item that is $13.99, I will get $13.99 in Rewards correct? And then, can I use that amount to buy anything I want?
If my above is correct, how long do you have to wait for the Rewards to appear?
I'm thinking it would be a good idea to buy some things and then I can buy ink, when I need it at Staples with those rewards, since that's something I need to pay for anyway.

FYI to anyone doing the Nivea lip deal at RA:
The Nivea in the yellow tube does NOT count towards the UP (it also rings up as $2.39 instead of $2, so that also will tell you that it's a problem.)

Ok, this is REALLY weird & I've never had this happen to me before. Yesterday, I had printed out 2 of the $1/1 Nivea lip IPs on Swagbucks (same as coupons.com).
Well, just now, I was doing a quick look at the personal care section to see if they were any matches for upcoming sales at Wags & RA. I saw the Nivea $1/1 q again. I figured if I clicked print, I'd get that msg of "you have already printed the number of times allowed."
Nope! I just printed 2 more! (And now it says "print limit reached.) This is GREAT because I have to return a Nivea that didn't count for the $10UPwyb$20.
So, if you already printed yesterday, check again to see if you can print today. Maybe this was just some weird fluke I got. I don't know.

Wags (planning ahead)
The week of 1/8 at Wags, EOS shave cream will be 2/$6 - $4RR. You can e-mail EOS and ask them for coupons. Last time they sent me (2) $1/1 EOS shaving cream coupons. If they do it again, it means the shaving cream will be free after RR and mqs.
Here is the e-mail address:

Leanna: I have a Rite Aid question so I thought I'd see if you know the answer to this question. Is it true that you will no longer be able to roll your UP rewards starting the 1st? I read somewhere earlier today that the UPs that will print will not be able to be used until the next day. If that's true, I'll really have to redo my scenarios for next week.
Constanz: Are you doing Dollar General tomorrow? Laundry soap All is on sale for $3.50 and there's a $.75 MQ.

DH was going to go out to get his hair cut and would be near Target so I sent him there with (2) $5 Target gift cards in hand and coupons for M&Ms. He went straight to Target. Between leaving for home and getting to Target and pulling a cart out, he lost the gift cards. Then he went to scan the bags of M&Ms which I thought would be 70% off and they were only 30% off just as they were on Tuesday.
UGH!!

Not sure what other deals there are this week at DG and don't think I have any Q's that make stuff free to eat up a good chunk of the OOP. I think I'm going to head to the city in the am. Have to pick up an order at JCP and might run to WM and Target to see if they are 75% off Christmas clearance yet. I also need to go mattress shopping...something I absolutely hate....

Rite Aid Deal AlertThis will ONLY work for those of us who have ads that go Sunday - Saturday. In other words, those of you in the parts of Cali that have your ad start on Friday, please ignore. Nivea lip balm is 2/$4 with a $10 UP wyb $20. Use $1/1 IPs from coupons.com and Nivea Facebook page AND $3/2 mq's that are supposed to come in this Sunday's paper. The deal will depend on how many of each q's you have. I have 6 of the $1/1 IPs and so I will buy 2 Sunday newspapers (that I hope contain the $3/2 mq's.) So here's what I plan to do on Saturday 12/31: Buy 10 Lip Balms = $20 Less (6) $1 IPs = -$(6) Less (2) $3/2 mq's = -$(6) OOP = $8 Receive $10 UP Net $2 MM and 10 free lip balms! For anyone who is new, who didn't understand what I wrote, feel free to ask questions. Well, actually, if you're "old" you can ask questions too! LOL I did this today Around here we get the red plums and P&Gs in the mail the week before they come out in the paper, so I raided a trash can at a nearby apartment complex. I got 10 lip balms with 5 $3/2 coupons for a $5 MM. I used the UPs on a couple of revitalens contact solutions. I only had $2 coupons so they still cost me 1.99 each, but I'm on my last bottle so I figured it was worth it.

Constanz - you were right about the Staples deal. They cancelled my order Oh well, no big deal. It would have been great if it worked out, but it was too good to be true. Hopefully I can find a good TP sale soon. I usually stock up on the 12-pk at CVS when they go on sale for $5, but I have not seen it at that price in awhile. Sam, there is a 12 (like 24 pack) of Basic and a 9 double-pack of Ultra something (if i remember correctly, check your ad) for $5.50 at CVS right now. I had a $2 blinkie coupon so I got them for $3.50 plus tax. I used to count by rolls and now am counting by square feet so I'm guessing this is a good price. Maybe I should go get more. I only sat out of the game for 9 months but I'm really befuddled going back in. I feel like all the rules changed and I'm playing with different tools and going for different scores. Wait, that's all true, no wonder I'm befuddled.

FreeSalsa - I just came back too We can be "newbies" again together Thanks for the heads-up on the TP, I will have to check that out. Usually we go for the 1,000 sheet rolls because they last so long. Some of the Charmin & Cottonelle rolls are only 200 sheets, and it seems like I am changing them out all the time!

I've heard something about this...that the UPs won't be good for 24 hrs or something like that. I don't know if it's true...we haven't been given any info that says that via e-mail. So ...ehhhh....ughhhhh...we'll find out very soon. I too have often done 2 transactions in 1 day. I'll go out to my car, cut the UPs and go back in and do a 2nd transaction to keep my OOP low. However, I have to say, lately, we haven't had as many deals, so I've pretty much been doing 1 transaction.

Thanks for the RA scenario Leanna. I did this deal w/$1/1 IPs to refresh an expiring $10 UP. You're welcome. (Someone else told me thank you today but I actually wasn't sure what they were thanking me for lol.) Yup - even solely with $1/1 IPs if you can put 10 together, the Nivea lip balms are free! And, I don't know about anyone else, but I go through lip balm like crazy.

One more RA dealThis may have already been posted. If it was, I apologize. Not trying to duplicate anyone's post. Just this board is hard to search on I find. Colognes, perfumes etc for the holidays are 50% off at Rite Aid. I found the individual Tim McGraw colognes, originally $10.99, so half off is $5.50 There's a $5 RA q here: raemails.rebateplus.com/EmailCouponPromotions.asp?id=cotyholfb211219All you have to do is enter your e-mail address. RA q's do not require coupon software, so you can print this at the library, or work (if you are allowed.) So 50 cents plus tax after coupon! Coupon is good for Beyonce, Halle Berry, Beckham or McGraw Fragrances, so you'll have to see what's left at your RA to see what you can pick up for cheap.

Also, this price was limit 3 so if I bought 2 today do I only have one left that I can buy? And will these two I bought count toward a GC? (See my confusion???)

The gift card deals are weekly deals, so, you would have to spend $30 that sales week. It does track on your receipt. Even though it may say there is a limit of 3 in the ad, it is usually us to the cashier to impose the limit. Usually they will still ring at the sales price, no matter how many you buy. If you want to fly under the radar, buy 3 at one store and go buy more at another, or go back later or another day to the same store.

Anyone online that could give me some advice it would be greatly appreciated!!! I was looking online at a rebate for Finesse but I didn't see it on Frugal Suz's blog list. Is this a bd company to do the rebate through? The deal I was looking at is at Shoprite this week. Finesse Shampoo - $1.99 $1/1 Finesse Product, exp. 1/30/12 (SS 10/16/11) $2 MIR Finesse Product Printable as low as free after coupon & MIR www.finessehaircare.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/FinesseRebateForm.pdfAlso could this rebate since it says any finesse product be used for an hair product other than shampoo and cond like mouse etc? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks! I did this rebate earlier in the year and got the check back with no problems. I just took the link off my post with the 1/1 deals because the rebate will have expired by the time we get to 1/1. I did it once too and got my rebate. I do think I remember hearing that they were very strict about one rebate per household though, so be careful of that.

For those looking for a mattress set - I know we all have preferences - but in case this helps anyone: The W Store has the W mattress set - this is the exact set used in the W Hotels (a Starwood property). They always have a sale - and the current code: WSTAR35 (working - just checked) will take 35% off the price. There is usually free delivery and no sales tax outside NY. This is the bed that we have and *love*. The 35% off takes a King Size plush top set down to under 1200. The web site is: www.whotelsthestore.com/When we went mattress shopping we had a horrible experience and decided to go this route because we had *tried* the bed at a W Hotel. We love it. A friend did the same deal and loves his as well. And we all paid a lot less than anything we saw in the store. We had ours w/in a week - but we live in DC. The delivery/takeaway was a breeze. Like I said - just an extra option to consider for those looking for a new bed.

leanna: Thanks for posting this-- I have not been keeping up very well and hadn't seen this. Do you know of any reason why we couldn't purchase some of these tomorrow and the last (using the coupons from the paper) on Saturday? I'm assuming they will track...? Hey - that's a great idea! And now you've given me just the excuse I need to go to RA today. I want to see what's on clearance. After I posted this, I remembered that my Red Plum comes in the mail the Wednesday before the paper comes out, so I already had one of the $3/2 coupons. I bought four Nivea lip balms today at one store and then 6 more at another store, because the printable $1/1 coupon says only four per shopping trip. Unfortunately, the first store shorted me one coupon (it just didn't scan) and I didn't realize til I got home. The store is quite a distance from my home, so I'm not going back for the dollar. Then I went to the second store, and the checker accidentally hit total and that I had paid with $20 cash. She was mortified, because she didn't mean to do it, but she had only scanned one of my coupons and I had more, and some ups. And I was paying by credit card. It ended up taking two of them almost half an hour to figure out how to fix their error, and in the end I was overcharged two bucks. Jeez, when will I learn to check my receipts before I drive away? ?

Ruby: My podunk Walmart finally had the Schick ST2 razors in AND allowed me overage!!! Yay! I used 5 of those coupons, so now I am going back tomorrow to capitalize on a $3/1 Woolite coupon and the $3/1 Downy Unstoppables coupons I have expiring tomorrow, b/c I really like these products, but hate to pay for them.
Constanz: OMG, I received my UPs from RA today and they are so cool! I received 3 $3 UPs and 1 $1 UP and they don't expire until 3/3/12!!! YAY!!!
Dancin: Thanks again for the Nestle Quik coupons, I bought some more free packets at a local grocery where I bought my NY's cabbage (already have the black-eyed peas in the freezer).
CVS: I went back and bought more candy for our candy jars at work at the CVS with the 75% off, many of the bags were ringing up .87 each which is a steal for mixed hard candies, cadbury chocolate, york peppermint patties, milky way, etc
RA: Bought an absolutely ginormous nutcracker (19.99 regular price) for $6, there was no price on the shelf, and when the checker rang it up and it was 9.99 and I wrinkled my nose, he offered to take $4 off, but then in the same transaction he refused my $3 coupon for the Axe (stupid new barcode) b/c it was a "clearance item" and he wouldn't change his mind, so he got me there, b/c I really wanted the gift set. I also bought the Honey Bunches of Oats BOGO 4.99 and used 2 $1/1 IPs from coupons.com. I love this cereal, so I was happy to get it for $1.50 each.
