Question-- wasn't Marsha permanently banned right after this board opened?? I missed the incident, but she told me in an E mail she got banned. If so the Lakhota thing becomes more important to me, personally. I don't mind Lakhota, really, although I don't always read his threads because it is just the same old, same old, and mainly because he usually just drops the bomb then abandons the thread, which pretty much shuts down discourse with him. Which is why I have always wondered if he gets paid for this, or is maybe even not a real person. Didn't I read somewhere that some former mod was an automated program? Was that true?? Anyway-- I want to know if Marsha got permanently banned off the board.

Can someone explain to me why, as Trae explained, Lakhota and Marsha are opposites, and equally able to do their thing, in his opinion as a moderator, and Marsha got banned? Just wondering.

I think she was given a time out, not a permanent ban. Re: What should be Obama's 2012 campaign slogan? « Reply #25 on Jan 2, 2011, 1:31am »

It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.

To answer your earlier question, rockon, the original word was (I think I have this right ...) schnicklefritz, and it is of German origin. It means, in essence, bratty little boy.

Glenn Beck And Sean Hannity Dropped From Philadelphia Radio Station Yesterday, hate radio hosts Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity had their nationally syndicated radio shows dropped from WPHT in Philadelphia, which is the second radio station to drop both of the conservative commentators. The moves were scheduled back in November 2010, and Marc Rayfield, market manager for CBS Radio in Philadelphia and senior vice president, said that WPHT wants to become “more of a locally based station.” Just weeks ago, Beck was dropped from WOR in New York, but the most recent cancellation in Philadelphia hurts Beck even more. Beck got his start in Philadelphia, and many of his radio staffers still live in Philly, including Beck’s side-kick Stu. Immediately after being dropped yesterday, Beck dropped all affection for the city where he got his start, saying, “Philly sucks”: “You know the killing streets right there in front of Independence Hall in Philadelphia?” Beck told his producer. “You know how Philadelphia is not a place you want to be?” he added. “I’ll put you on a hidden cam and put you downtown at 6, 7 o’clock at night.” He could not believe his producer would be brave enough to walk around Center City at night. “Philly sucks,” Beck then said. Last October, Hannity was dropped from KSL Radio in Utah, which is managed by Deseret Media Companies (DMC), a for-profit arm of the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. According to reports, Hannity’s drop in Utah may have been due to a clash between DMC’s “Mission Statement,” which calls for the declaration of “light and knowledge” along with the advancement of “integrity, civility, morality, and respect for all people,” and Hannity’s constant lack of civility. WPHT reportedly dropped both Beck and Hannity because they wanted more local talk content, but the most recent cancellations may be part of a pattern in which advertisers and broadcasters have become wary over the rhetoric spouted by hate radio. Color of Change reports that, so far, 81 companies have quit advertising on Beck’s Fox News show and Media Matter reports 100, including a list of those who haven’t withdrawn their advertisements. thinkprogress.org/2011/01/19/beck-hannity-philly/

I would say it's more likely they are anticipating Obama's crackdown on free speech using a Democrat-supported "fairness doctrine" to persecute popular conservative entertainers...

I think you would Ed but since any action if any is a long way away, if they were getting good production from their ads on what they are selling, they would hang in their till that happened, if anything happened, and even then, see how th listening audience plays out and again the effectiveness of the ads. Bottom line, people pay for ads to sell things, get a message across important to companies, awareness . If they are working, unless embarrassing to the product, Tiger Woods the prime objection, embarrassing to be associated with him at the time of his problems, ads dropped, postponed put on hold till all played out.

Read more: notmsnmoney.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=politics&action=display&thread=1733&page=6#ixzz1BWv7zGQh Very well said, I agree. The Red and Blue Team true-believers are beyond help. There was a good article in The Nation (a disgruntled Blue Team idealist) saying that what the Tea Partyers got right was their realization that THE political problem in the US is the elite vs the citizens; and the elite own both Teams. He suggested "the left" had better start making alliances with Tea Partyers, small business types, and other "local control" people to survive.

Sanity is highly overrated. Did you mean Hannity? I think he was using the word "sanity" in reference to whether Hannity was insane, and trying to be "cute", but I really wouldn't quote me on how Tennesseer really thinks
