I found out that great uncle F passed yesterday morning. He was 101. He was fairly mobile until about 6 months ago and once he lost the mobility he was ready to go. No word on funeral arrangements yet. I'm sad because he was my dad's last older relative but hey, 101 means he definitely lived a full life.

Beth, so sorry for your loss
Was just reading up your thread and saw that you've been talking to Liz and see her again next week. I hoping the best for you and your family. Glad to hear you had a nice Christmas and wishing you a happy New Year!

Ah, I had a wonderful massage today. Sadly, I still have a ton of knots/tension in my shoulders. They're recommending deep tissue massage but it's probably not going to happen. We're fairly sure there is aloe in the stuff they use. Aloe makes me itch.

I started back up on the project of getting the big bathroom painted. I think I've logged about 12-15 hours on it in the last 2 weeks. It's primed now. It's getting a 2nd coat of primer and behind the toilet will be where I focus on as its really awkward and a tight fit. But that for a different day. I'm tired, hungry and my hands are chapped. But I feel like progress was made.

Saw Liz last night. I'm on every 3 weeks appts. PMS and crappy weather are kicking my tush right now.
And I mentioned the whole "put on a happy face" thing to Liz because that's exactly what I did last night - walked in and put on a happy face. She can't help me if I don't admit to these things. I'm thinking about it now though. She probably is too.
We did test paint and have color. I'll get ceiling paint and wall paint this weekend and get it done. Then we can discuss my next unfinished project to finish. Or see if dh wants me to address other problems first.
I'm also starting a rough cost estimate to buy materials to do the bathroom. I need to actually measure it to get a rough idea of drywall and subfloor though.

I've managed to find all sorts of stuff to use to work on my resume. They posted a vacancy in my dept and I want it. I don't actually think I'm going to get it but I'm going to give it my best shot. I want to get my resume submitted around March 1st.
Paint is mostly done in the bathroom. I've found two spots I want to touch up, just too tired or lazy to do it. Then tesume, then start on the kitchen floor. I need to get lots of stuff off the floo r before I can actually finish pulling up the last section of carpet. I think that's going to be March's project. Then April for general fixing and tidying.

That's great, Beth! I'd agree with everyone else, just apply for that job and see what happens. If nothing else, it'll give your bosses an idea that you want to move on to other things, it might open up some new avenues for you to explore or for them to suggest for you to look.
Do you like the work you did in your bathroom? It sounds like you did so much, must be great compared to what it was before! We have some ideas/lists of things we'd like to do this spring/year to update our house. I hope we can get at least few things done; wish me luck
Have you gone and seen Liz any more since the beginning of the month? Is it any better now that the days are getting at least a bit longer? I would hope so. I know the more sun I get, the better I feel so I hope things are getting better for you too.

It's going to take longer to open and mix the paint than it will to actually do the work, so I'm procrastinating some. I see Liz every two to three weeks. Right now I'm a hormonal mess. I still need to work on my resume and I need to get transcripts. Dh just got his from the same place and he's offered to help, if I need it.

Well I did it. I submitted an app for coworker's job. Now I feel sick. But I can't keep doing this job so I get a few minutes for that and then I get to move on to thinking about interview questions.

Thanks. It won't mean a change in salary but it would restart me on a career path again. I'm at a deadend job right now. Plus it's boring as all hell.

I ran into Kohls last night after therapy to check for black dress pants for interviews. There's lots of clothing that appealed to me and I thought "I should call Chris and see if she wants to help me shop." I am fashion challenged you see. And then I remembered.
I'm on FB with her mom, who posted about being in the grief abyss the last few months. And I mentioned thinking about Chris. And then I started crying in the car after work. I miss Chris and usually it's not bad, but admitting missing her to her mom seems to have tipped me into a different grief spot.
Admitting it here and to my Mom is different somehow then admitting it to Chris's mom. It's not gonna be an easy night either. At choir for K with C playing on his kindle, then I have handball choir. So we wont be home until asftet 6. And dh is slammed at work because of the ACA deadline so he's probably going to be later than us.
No wonder I want to go/run away for a weekend.

I started ripping up the kitchen floor this weekend. My older sister and my Mom both helped. Sunday I got a lot more up. I'm hoping to finish, except for a couple of problem areas, tonight.
Dh made a huge dent in the office while I was working on the floor.
My sister's nagging me to just toss stuff. And at the same time showed up with a basketball and a football for the kids.
Yes, there are way too many toys and things in the house but me arbitrarily tossing things out doesn't sit well with me And when I've tried to get the kids involved it hasn't gone well.

Beth - one thing we've tried for the girls stuff is boxing stuff up out of view for awhile and seeing if they ask for it. If no one mentions it for a few months, then it gets donated. It makes me feel like I'm not just arbitrarily getting rid of their stuff and helps identify the things they really would miss. Generally, out of the tub of stuff there's 1 or 2 items that get asked for and the rest are never ever missed.

And I'm probably starting to hit menopause. Joy. I asked my sister and she had similar issues starting when she was my age. Yuck.
Mom's periods were always erratic so she can't offer much when asked about it.

Last night DS got up 3-4 times and wanted Dad every single one. I rolled over and let them be. We had a whopping 4 kids come trick or treating by us (Sat. afternoon 1-4pm) It was rainy/misty most of the day. Then we went to my sister's place, where they do nighttime trick or treating. It's our 3rd year out there and DS finally figured out that this is a GOOD thing and stopped trailing his sister by 1/2 a house... Fun story #1 I've got the radio on and U2's Bloody Sunday is on. I'm singing along and after the repeated "how long much we sing this song?" DD pipes up from the backseat along the lines of "As long as you want to!" DH and I both started laughing. Fun story #2 DS got to one house ahead of DD and they've got a bowl of suckers and a note that read something like "Take 2. The dog is watching." and DD reads it to DS. And then she points out "Mom, he's got more than 2!" "Mom, I have 3. No, 4. BUT THE DOG'S NOT BARKING OR ANYTHING!! So it's ok if I take more!" Fun story #3 Last week we had DS's b-day party and DNephew#3, when he overheard me asking if I could/should bring anything, he told me Mt. Dew and lots of candy. So in shopping this week I grabbed an 8 pack of Dew and a couple more bags of candy. Then we had a whole 4 kids come to the door so I hauled all the candy out there. As we're leaving, my sister hands me back the unopened bags of candy, which included a 250 piece bag. I hand that one off to my nephew, who hides it behind his back and go back to gathering up stuff to leave. DD is watching this and trying to get my attention. Finally "MOM, he's got the bag of candy behind his back!" me "Yes, but if we mention about it, Auntie had to talk about it now. She can pretend to ignore if we don't mention it." which resulted in an extremely puzzled little 7.5 year old; a laughing hysterically 17 year old and multiple adults trying to ignore the whole thing. I'll probably get a suggestion next year from my sister to NOT bring out candy and soda.

I saw liz last night. I see her on the 26th and then we're moving to me calling as needed. The 26th is the one year anniversary of my friend's death. I don't know how I'm going to be so we set up the appointment. Friday would have been her bday. And I'm bouncing up and down emotionally on that already.
Starting of menopause sucks. I need to schedule a mammogram and then my annual physical with pap test with my doctor. We'll talk about it then. Probably going to be May and June for those appointments.
Dh and I agreed to rip up the carpet and tile in the hallway and bathroom and just get it all done with. I need to do the small bathroom and then pop off the quartermold stuff on the walls and finish that up. Then set up stuff with home depot to get the floor in. I'm hoping the don't have to replace the subfloor but we'll see.

I'm sorry. I have 2 bottles of wine I will share (virtually. In reality, not a chance in hell). It looks to be a sucky night all over right now. PS: 4th birthday? BTW, when you're done ripping your house apart, want to come help with mine? We plan to take our lower kitchen cabinets out and put in baker tables, basic metal tables with butcher block tops and shelves. This way we can fix the monster draft issue we have and make it more user friendly for DH because he can't use the cabinets as they are.

That was supposed to be 46th bday damn autocorrect tried to change it here too
We grew up together. We met when we were two. If she didn't know all my secrets she could probably guess with 99% accuracy on what she didn't know. I think it's like losing a sister.
I just really miss her. And I'm really sad. It'll be a year on the 26th and I see Liz that day.
I'm friends with her Mom on fb too.
