My wife uses 4 - 6 pounds for Christmas Eve crab cakes. It won't be jumbo lump. My sister works for a big seafood disturber here which should help lower the price. I remember when it was about $8.

Dang Nancy at that price it seems cheaper to order crab cakes and have them flown to you.

Crab cakes sound more fun than my weird door knock tonight.
Apparently there is some community solar program you can opt into if your usage is high enough. Did not want to talk to the person after getting a solar scam call earlier tonight. Looking at my electric supplier there is something but it sounds subscription based.
Anyone have anything like that where you live? It was sold as getting a credit on your bill, but that seemed at best the good part of the full story.

Good Evening Kids! Another full day, plus I've been trying to put extra time into exercise this week in anticipation of a large Thanksgiving meal later this week. Gotta have some pumpkin pie, you know. It is cold here, and getting colder by the weekend. We could actually be in the single digits when you include wind chill. I'm glad I've got plenty to keep me busy indoors. I've been interested in solar energy, Opti, but I've never had the time to research it. I'm more likely to get some solar panels on the South side of the house, but I'd like to talk to someone who has actually done it.

Busy, this is something different. I live in an apartment complex, so I personally can't go solar. This community solar program seems to be a way to increase demand for green energy. I think Arcadia is what was on the badge of the person who knocked on my door. Subscribing might reduce one's energy bill, but it might not. More solar energy would be used in general but not necessarily to me. If your bill gets reduced its because of an energy credit. Enrolling commits you to supporting a solar farm near you. www.arcadia.com/community-solar

Happy Tuesday, peeps! I swam, got home and cleaned the bathrooms and mowed the front lawn. DH had an unusual burst of energy and did some edging for me.
Tomorrow is make the pumpkin pie and vacuum the floors while it bakes.

We could pay a bit extra to our local utility company to help them set up solar farms, but we really don't get cheaper rates from that program. It's more like "doing your part" to save the environment here.

Good Morning Kids! The single-digit wind chills have already arrived here, and I need to find my lip balm and hand lotion, 'cause it's COLD outside. I took Lola in to get her nails trimmed this morning. I'm going to go put gas in my car while the sun is out, because it's gonna get colder here before it gets warmer again.

It's cold here, too. Had an errand in town and my trash has not been picked up. That means I will have to go out one more time today.

It's more like "doing your part" to save the environment here. Still much better than what is happening here. I am not personally affected because I live in a tiny part of the county where the city owns its own electric plant and runs it as a nonprofit. The main company providing electricity around here though is PG&E. They need to ask permission to raise thier rates from an energy board, though that board just seems to rubber stamp whatever they ask for. On the news today they informed us that they have applied for a rate raise for the FIFTH time this year!!! It was a total coincidence that I ended up in this city but 21 years ago when I bought my condo I saved $100/month on electricity and more because this is an all electric unit so no natural gas bill for me. That gap has significantly increased since 2003 and over time I have saved tens of thousands of $$$ just because I ended on the right side (if barely) of the city border. If I had a SFH here you can bet your petootie I would have solar panels on my roof

Good Morning Kids! We have no room in our freezer, so I have to go out in the cold after DS catches his ride to work and try to find a spiral sliced ham. They're not as common as they used to be.

Hello peeps! I worked out, vacuumed, made the pumpkin pie and finishing a load of laundry. I do plan to run later, but I am having a chicken sandwich for lunch. Trying to be good until tomorrow.

Back again! I did score a ham, at Target of all places (their selection was better than the local grocery store). Right now I've got a pumpkin pie in the oven. Most of the rest of the day I'll be finishing up laundry & playing cleaning fairy (that's the worst part of hosting for me, cleaning house when we've got 2 dogs).

My brother is doing a 15 pound turkey and 12 pound ham for five people. Dude likes a lot of leftovers.

We love leftovers too! If there's a crazy amount of ham left, we cube some of it, and put it into the freezer for future casseroles. Unfortunately for my waistline, we'll probably be eating pie for days... DD loves to make green bean casserole, and I'll be sure to have both mashed potatoes & stuffing.

I like leftovers too, but really only the stuffing (which I can eat cold), the turkey (for soup and sandwiches) and the cranberry compote. I am making one large sweet potato to share between us and steamed green beans. DH can have his pumpkin pie. I can live without dessert. No snacking really planned. We will have breakfast (scrambled eggs and bacon, and DH has a guava-filled doughnut for "dessert"). We have fresh citrus juice and mescal for afternoon sipping.

I'll never again eat the old cranberry gel from the can I grew up with since my wife made some dish cooking down cranberries. That's the real thing.

The homemade cranberry sauce is the best, but it's VERY messy to clean the pan. If I eat the canned kind, it has to have berries in it.
