Good Morning Kids! I plan to hit the garden center today, get a large flowering plant for the front porch, and some veggie plants for our gardens. This is traditionally the weekend when DH & I get the seed into the ground, so we can look forward to fresh veggies later this Summer.

I follow Beth Stern on Instagram. So many people cats or release them outdoors when they have lived indoors their entire lives. She currently is caring for a 23 year old cat whose family was moving so they took her to a kill shelter and said put her to sleep.
If need be, she will live out her days with Beth. She does have pretty good luck with placing seniors but she said this is the oldest cat she has ever taken in.
Someone adopted a cat who is in hospice care. That was at least 6 months ago. The cat appears to be thriving for now. Seems some love has extended her life.

Hello peeps! Nice to have made it to the weekend. I have my last race of the season Monday. I did yard work this afternoon, after work. Going to be hot and on and off rain all weekend.

We do some of both. Never have had any luck starting tomatoes from seed, the plants just die, so we buy tomato & pepper plants, and seed the rest of the garden.

Doing some genealogy. Oh what one finds. I'm trying to understand why a woman would remarry her ex-husband who left her for her step-mother? Had two kids with each woman.
Listed himself as widowed on the marriage license.
I do not understand why she married him twice. It appears they didn't live together during the second marriage.

Maybe so the kids, or she, would be covered by insurance? I know people who have done that.

I’ve discovered several well kept family secrets. The biggest shock was that I had 2 first cousins that my dad’s younger brother fathered (by different women) after he returned from WWII. None of my generation knew about it and all the aunts and uncles are deceased so I don’t know if any of the family knew. I have met one cousin. She was adopted by her grand parents but was never told and grew up thinking her mother was her older sister. Her mother’s sister told her after her mother and grandparents were deceased. Both of our families have lived in the city for over 100 years.

In current time, I know people who have done that. I also know older people who have not gotten married because it would reduce the other's social security.

Just curious... About how many races did you run this season? (It seems like it was a LOT!) Two a month, normally, but three in the "colder" months. It also depends on swim meets and triathlons. This month, it was three events, but then I take June, July and August off with no road races. Mama did not raise a dummy; it is too hot to race here in the summer. Speaking of working out -- the pools were closed today (coaches had a meet) so I kickboxed and stopped at the market for the last of what we need for the weekend food-wise. Very good time to shop - I got in and out in 15 minutes.

Good Morning Kids! It's humid, but practically perfect here with temps in the mid-60's, and moving up. I did have some luck in buying plants yesterday, but you can tell there are still supply chain issues. I would've preferred Double Impatiens, but I settled for New Guinea Impatiens instead, but, I do like them, so it's not a bad option. I couldn't get everything I wanted for the vegetable garden either, as some types of things, like specific peppers, just aren't available. But, there were other options. We'll be just fine.

I'm going to guess it was a financial arrangement. Or, maybe a societal one. I can't imagine a divorced woman got much respect back in the day. There were whispers about divorce even while I was growing up. Now, it doesn't seem to be a big deal.

Good Morning Kids! It is dark out, and we've got a storm heading our direction. We've decided to watch church online, as I don't want to get caught up in something bad.

The rain rolled in last night and it is a rainy blustery day. I made a quick overnight trip for a retirement party. One of the guys I work with retired on Friday so I made the trip for his little get together. It was nice to see some co-workers. The traffic there was horrid, which I knew it would be going in the holiday weekend. I spent the night at mom's got up and was home by noon. Yesterday I did get the lawn mowed before the rain hit so that was good. Today will be church and housework since it is too nasty for any outdoor chores.

Rain has blown up all around us; I expect we will get some, but nothing severe. Hopefully we will have no rain early tomorrow and get the race in. Overcast skies are fine, but I am not a run-in-the-rain fan.

And a peaceful Memorial day to the EE peeps. Made it home from the race before the thunderstorms hit (saw a bolt of lightning in the third mile ), fixed breakfast, went to Walgreens and just got home. I am doing one load of laundry; I already cleaned up the bathrooms. No interest in lunch, since breakfast was late. But it is hot out there.

It has been raining all weekend here. Not hard, just wet. But we are in drought conditions currently, so... At least I didn't have to go anywhere.
I hope you all enjoyed the weekend!

My friend who is in his early 70s and has Parkinson's disease, offered to let me be his live in care taker yesterday, for free rent. He has fallen a number of times, since Christmas. One time breaking his hip. He also wrecked his car into a bank of mailboxes. His DL has been suspended. He thinks he's SO easy to get along with. I do not. For 2 weeks he's lived in an assisted living center, which he hates. I politely, but firmly said, No, for so many reasons.
Getting old sucks.

My dear friend in Colorado who used to be my boss has made the move to his daughter's house. I had not talked to him since before I went to Toronto until last night.
During that time, he slipped getting out of bed and was hospitalized for 3 days. He weights over 300 pounds so his daughters had to call an ambulance.
A couple of weeks ago, his blood pressure went haywire and he ended up in the ER again. 8 days in the hospital and he no longer takes blood pressure medicine and says he feels better than he has in a long time.
His daughter and her husband moved in to a new house and the plan was that he got one of the two guest wings. He has moved in to it now and the daughters and grand kids are getting his house ready to sell.
He has two bedrooms, so one is a living room and the other a bedroom. He bought himself a hospital bed. They are looking for someone to convert his bathtub to a shower.
He gave me the address of her new house after telling me that you can see the entire front range from her family room. Looked at the photos on Zillow today and you can see the entire front range from that room.
I know his days are limited (he's over 80) and has all kinds of health issues. He also just wants to be with his late wife.
He has declined some truly elective surgeries as he felt the risks were too high with his other health issues.
I was just happy to hear him sounding upbeat last night.

When I was getting my house resided a couple years ago she called me and suggested that I come and live with her since my house was unlivable. She would get rid of her caregivers and save some money and I would have a place to live. I couldn't say NO to that arrangement fast enough. For one just because my house didn't have siding didn't mean that it was unlivable and two if she fired her caregivers what was going to happen when my house was done.

This man quit speaking to me for the last 8-9 months, because I won't run right over and entertain him every time he invited me. To be honest, it was kind of nice. Years ago, he was my boss (Dreyfus Corp.). I left due to sexual harassment, after contacting the NY corp office and explaining what had been going on. They were able to verify the info during our phone call and offered me a very attractive payout, right then. Years later, I noticed him driving through my apt parking lot on several occasions. When he finally stopped and spoke to me, he angrily was going on about how he almost lost his job, because of me. I quickly reminded him that I DID "lose" my job, because of his behavior! He has tried numerous times to get me to move in with him, or be his maid, now his care taker. Of course he will pay me. But not even half of the going rate! Oh. And when he called, he interrupted himself to tell me, "This isn't about sex.", then he carried on with his offer, to allow me to be his care taker. We've been down this road so many times. I always tell him no. Besides free rent, there's nothing in it for me. Why would I do that? Say the rent value is $1,000 per month. The amount he paid a care giver, for a time, was $470 per night = $14,100 per month! Over $14,000 per month, compared to $1,000 per month! And his expectations would be higher for me, for sure! What an opportunity! 🙄 Yeah, no. I helped take care of my father, during his last months of life. It was exhausting and I only had to care for him in 8 hr increments, per day. And my dad was much easier to care for! He stayed in bed, other than to use the bathroom, and to shower. And he was compliant. This 'friend' wants to have complete mobility and access to everything. Including his car. His own kids told him no, they wouldn't even consider living with him and caring for him. Like you said, Not only No, but HELL NO! If he truly requires so little help, he should get a Life Alert. "Help. I've fallen and I can't get up!" (And his kids wouldn't have moved him into an assisted living facility!) I'm not doing it! I am not his entertainment committee! I'm glad you didn't get roped into that "deal". It also sounds like it would be a nightmare, for you. Do they think we're just terribly stupid? Jeez!

Happy Friday Muffins!!!
We got lots of much needed rain this week and very cool temps which I love! 70s and low 80s for the next week with rain chances. I am thrilled how slowly we are going into summer this year. Usually by now we have hit the 90s with no moisture.
Have a Marvelous Weekend!!!

Good Afternoon Kids! I'd take a pass on that "offer" too, toomuchreality. I had to make a trip to Wally World this morning. Speedy's allergies have popped up, so he needs his Benedryl so he doesn't scratch himself to death.

Well, THAT was fun. Speedy spit out the pill I'd buried in a chunk of cheese, so I had to do the old "hold the dog's mouth shut while stroking his throat" so he'd swallow his pill. He NEEDS this medication, otherwise he'll itch himself into hot spots, and I don't want his fur getting shaved off in the affected area like it was last Spring. Those fur babies sure keep you on your toes!
