Well, THAT was fun. Speedy spit out the pill I'd buried in a chunk of cheese, so I had to do the old "hold the dog's mouth shut while stroking his throat" so he'd swallow his pill. He NEEDS this medication, otherwise he'll itch himself into hot spots, and I don't want his fur getting shaved off in the affected area like it was last Spring. Those fur babies sure keep you on your toes! It amazes me how animals are able to eat the cheese and spit out their pill. Sheesh! I'm glad you finally got Speedy to swallow his pill.

Cats are excellent at getting me to think I got the pill down their throat and then I find it an hour later.

Hello peeps! We're soggy. Really soggy. But not flooded. Rain has been steady but light to moderate. Probably another 12 hours of it. It's Potential Tropical Cyclone One. Not even the dignity of a name. Well, it was Agatha, but the winds quit, so it cannot be a Tropical Storm Alex.
I did get as much as I could out of my garden, propped up the rest and hoping for the best. No shutters down, though we did pick up the loose stuff. I did not get to mow the back lawn, but did the front and edged everything.
I have a swim banquet tomorrow night, but we should be done with rain by then. Most of the worse seems to be to the south and west of us.

Speedy turns into a freaking gourmet when it comes to taking pills. He can find the tiniest pill hidden in food, eats the food and spits out the pill. First dog I've owned that does this to me. The hot dog isn't a bad idea, but he's a smaller dog, and I don't want him choking on a hunk of meat, which is why I use cheese, or something softer. Oh well... NancysSummerSip , do you have anything to worry about with that hurricane coming in from Mexico? Hope all will be well there.

No, not a hurricane anymore -- not even getting the dignity of a name at this point. Now it is Potential Tropical Cyclone Number One. They shoulda just given it a name. Woulda been shorter. So, no driving or swimming today. But no worries. Did laundry, made pesto from the veggies I could get from the garden, dusted the house. Would like to take a run to the post office later, when the weather clears out. It is rain-squalling right now, but nothing more awful than that.

This was a very long short week and I have declared today to be a do nothing day. Yesterday when I went out to check on my chickens I found something had broke into the coop and killed all of them. That wasn't a good way to start the morning. I was really beginning to enjoy the chickalettas. The mayor on the children's TV show Paw Patrol, which happens to be my grandkids favorite show, has a pet chicken named chickaletta. I just referred to my hens collectively as the chickalettas. My kitty isn't doing very good and I will be surprised if she lives through the summer. Yes she is 16 years old so it isn't totally unexpected. Right now I'm just moving her to quality of life care. I'm not going to try and switch her food to the fancy food the vet recommends. When I tried that a month of so ago all it did was make her throw up all the time. Now he wants me to try a different food, nope she likes what she has been on for years why change it now. The change in food isn't going to change what is inevitable. DD and the kids were supposed to come over today and we were going to do some yard work. I don't feel good this morning and am just really don't feel up to the chatter of the grandkids. I texted her and told her not to come over because I don't feel good. Instead I may just go back to bed.

Aw Sharon! I'm so sorry about your chickens. Any idea what you're dealing with? Fisher? Weasel? Fox? There are so many predators in our state. We have birds of prey that attack chickens, too. It's been another nice weather day here. Cooler than average, and I don't think the high went past the low 70's. Very comfortable.

We have had a mist type of rain all day. Thunderstorms were forecast so I'm happy with this kind of wet weather.

Took DH out to breakfast, then over to the new REI store and then Whole Foods. Back home and cleaned the bathrooms and fed the cats. I do plan to weed the yard later. Dinner is baked chicken and a potato/ranch dressing/cheese/bacon casserole from a recipe I found.

Good Afternoon Kids! Church was full this morning. Don't know what the occasion was, other than some schools are now done for the year.
It's cloudy today, & we're expecting rain later. DH had to go in to work today. He's hoping to get home & plant some seed in the garden before the rain arrives.
We've got another extended family member in the hospital. I hope this is the last one for quite awhile.

I had the best hamburger last night, at a county fair! The bun was SOOO good, as was the meat. There was no charge for admission, so I'm considering going back for another one today! But it's approximately a 45 minute drive each direction and parking would be a pain, plus fighting the crowd. 🤔 For "fair" food, the price wasn't bad, but $10 for fast food, isn't cheap. Hmm... I probably won't go. But I really want one! And going to the store, buying meat and buns, then coming home and cooking it, won't be much cheaper, less effort, and won't taste as good, because I won't have a delicious bun or a bbq.
I'm hungry, so need to decide!
1st world problems, I know.

And you can come over any time for dinner.

😊 ❤ Why, thank you!
Because I am lazy, I just ordered a stuffed crust pizza for dinner, rather than going to get another burger at the fair. It cost a LOT more, but I will take the leftovers with me to DD2s tomorrow and we'll have them for lunch. The kids and I enjoy cheese pizza and DD2 will eat it. And I got cinnabons. It should be delicious! 🍕
How much do you tip for pizza delivery?

It appears it rained all night. It's dark enough that I have a light on at almost 9 am.
When the rain finally stops, the lawn does need mowed.

Good Afternoon Kids! The temperature here is comfortable, and in the low 70's. The sun is out too, but you can feel the humidity ramping up.
I've got a lot to catch up on at home, so except for getting the dogs outside, I'll mostly be working indoors today.

Good Evening Kids! I've been noticing when I take the dogs out, especially early in the day, that I don't get attacked by gnats nor mosquitoes as I would normally expect to be. I know I've seen a few mosquitoes, but it's weird. I wonder if our county has already been spraying, or the rain hasn't been enough for a big hatch yet? It's been a weird year...

I haven't seen any either, but I'm not complaining. Isn't it still a bit early for them? I'm not outside much, so I don't know what's normal these days.

Hello all. I'm about ready to dig a hole in the back yard and crawl in. Kitty is not doing well and had even stopped eating for a couple of days. I have stopped all her medications. She is throwing up less since I have done that. Plus she had gotten to the point where she was running from me every time I would come near. I want her last days to be filled with pettting and loves, not fear of being pilled. The medication wasn't going to cure her. Yesterday was a better day and she even ate a little bit. Monday evening my hot water heater went out. I spent yesterday trying to find someone to come out and replace it. Finally in the afternoon, the 8th place I tried to contact, sounds promising. They answered the phone and the lady said she would need to research about getting a replacement hot water heater etc and she would get back to me. They are in another city so I will probably have to pay extra travel time but right now I don't care. One place I called was strictly a voice mail of leave your name, number, who referred you, and a brief description of your issue. If we can help you we will call you back. Two went to voicemail boxes that were full. One guy told me to call this other guy but the other guy was going to a voice mailbox that was full. Two places were out of business. One place didn't have a phone number listed you were to go online and fill out a form and they would get back to you, maybe. It is next to impossible to hire a trades person. Monday I was contacted by an electrician who had done work at the house when my furnace was installed. He knew I had other work I wanted done and had tried to get me on the list with his employer. He asked if his employer had contacted me and if not he would be willing do it on the side if I was okay with that. While I usually would want to deal with a company that is licensed, bonded, insured etc it has been almost 4 months and I haven't had any more success getting an electrician than a plumber so I said yes. He came out and looked at the job but I don't have my quote yet. I hope he didn't change his mind.

Oh, my word! That sounds like a nightmare! I hope you're able to get things repaired quickly. Being without hot water isn't fun! I would probably trust the electrician, doing side work, since he's already done other work there and it went well. I agree about your kitty. Although I'm sorry things have reached that point. Good luck! 🤞

Good Morning Kids! I KNEW I spoke too soon about no gnats, as this morning I saw a bunch of immature ones flying around (they're green when they're little, and then they turn black). So sorry about everything you're dealing with Sharon. You don't need kitty & house problems at the same time.
