My life has been such a cluster lately I'm not even sure I can describe the comedy of errors I have been living. Today the well guy was recommending that I trench through my yard to the well in the pasture and tie the irrigation system into the pasture irrigation and just run the house off the one well. The filter in the pump house was installed in the wrong place and clogged up and burned something up, the burned up piece was replaced today. They will come back later to move the filter to the proper place and put in the proper type of filter. I want to talk to the well guy, without the know it all irrigation guy standing there, and ask more questions. Basically they are telling me that my house well can't keep up with the water demand to run the irrigation system. I don't know why this is suddenly an issue and couldn't get a good answer. I hope it doesn't mean I need a new well dug. As part of this they shut the water off to the house and then drained the house line so when it was turned back on the water was spitting everywhere as it was getting the air out of lines. Well whatever it did now one of my toilets won't shut off, and it blew gasket off of another faucet. I have a major headache right now.

The bldg fire alarm has been going off 2-3 times daily, for periods of 15-30 minutes. No reason is given. Even when I called the office, as it was happening. Then this morning, my smoke detector was chirping for hours, so I called and left a message for both the office and emergency maintenance. Neither one responded, all day.
I hope I don't die in a fire, because they aren't maintaining things properly. I need to call and report this to someone.
To top it off, I got a notice on my door today, saying my rent is increasing by $62.00 per month, beginning June 1st.
Really? For a property you barely maintain?! This is horrible. I'm less than impressed.

I received my order for a pair of dress shoes. The pair I'd originally ordered don't seem to be working very well, as my feet tend to fall asleep when I wear them while standing. These new ones have a heel that is about 1/4 inch shorter, so I hope I'm able to wear them with the length my dress was altered to. I'm so sorry for all of the problems you're having at your new location, toomuchreality. Why do I get the feeling you might be moving again when your lease is up?

I'd rather move now, before I get more settled. But that's unlikely. I can't believe they're raising my rent so soon. I just barely signed my lease! What is the point of signing a lease, if they're not going to do their part, or adhere to it? This place frustrates me more than my last place did. I just finished the bottle of Rhum Punch DD2 a her DH brought to me, from their cruise, last December (2023). I need more! 😋

When Dd2 got married, I got to the ceremony and realized I had forgotten to put on my slip! 😳 Luckily, I didn't live far, so I borrowed DD1s car and rushed home to put it on. Yikes!

I got the Guggenhein scissors I ordered. They seem really nice! (Fancy/sharp) I need to buy some larger ones.
But I bought a new pair of kitchen sheers I like, the other day, so I'll probably just make due.

How can rent be increased during the lease? If they can, then why bother with the lease?

When going to my relative's graveside funeral, I forgot my dress shoes. I was driving, so I was wearing tennies. DD was kind enough to let me wear her shoes (we're the same size) and she wore my shoes. I cannot allow that same mistake to happen on wedding day.

I have an appointment for an echocardiogram tomorrow and an appointment with my cardiologist right after. Twice, a week ago, I felt my heart flutter.
I hope I don't have to go back for another procedure. I don't want to. But I've gotten quite used to having a heart that beats regularly. <sigh>

Sharon, I'm sorry I missed your earlier post. I cannot even imagine dealing with such a big problem. Can you get another opinion before attempting such a potentially expensive project? What does your SIL have to say about all of this?

toomuchreality, I hope what you're feeling is just stress-related. I'm sure having the fire alarm going off & on would get to me after awhile. I'm sending you a batch of hugs too!

I'm not too worried about it. I'm more worried that I should be worried, than anything. Illnesses of the heart are a different sort of thing, IMO. Every time I feel something, I think, was that real, is that it? Because it's not something that's normal. I'll ask the dr tomorrow. The dr did say, I might need to go back for a "touch up", which is usually done as an outpatient. So that's good. It's just odd, to not feel 'sick'. Things will be fine, I'm sure.

This is according to "Doctor Google". I'm not sure either that raising rent is legal, at least until the term of the lease is up, toomuchreality . You may wish to give HUD a call for clarification: According to the HUD Exchange, apartment owners are allowed to request a rent increase during the initial lease term as long as the tenant and Public Housing Agency (PHA) are provided with a 60-day notice, and the proposed effective date is after the initial lease term. However, the regulation at 24 CFR 982.309(a)(3) prohibits owners from actually increasing the contract rent during this period1. The new rent would still need to pass a rent reasonableness determination and ultimately be approved by the PHA1.

The 60 day time frame will be close!

Last week I gave away my Hoover carpet steam cleaner. Today I found the owner's manual for it and dropped it off to the person who took the steam cleaner.
I was surprised that when I first offered the carpet cleaner, more people didn't seem interested. But later that day and since then, I've had a lot of people ask if they can have it, or if it's still available. I guess they're just hopeful.
It was in great shape. The young woman who took it was lucky, IMO. More so now that she has the owners manual, because she'll know exactly how to use it.

It has been raining here, for days and is still raining this morning. It would be a great day to sleep through the day. Unfortunately, I have appointments I need to go to, so I won't be doing that.
I have straight hair, so no worries about that. Although it will be very straight and flat. No extra body, or style today.
I need a haircut. (Just saying.)
And I'm over this rain. But they say it's going to continue until tomorrow afternoon. It makes things miserable and dark. Yuck.
I won't be seeing my granddaughters today (this week).
🎵 Rain, rain, go away. 🎶

Are you still babysitting your grandkids? Yes. But it's getting hard now. Because they moved farther away. And although their house is bigger, the layout is harder for me, because of all the stairs and the lack of sight lines. I'm not sure how long it is going to last.

I made a really good cup of coffee this morning! It has been months since I had one.
I had a cup at DD2s when I was staying with them. But it was too strong and really bitter, so I dumped it out.
I was going to give my Keurig away. But now I'm not so sure. I'll think about it more.
Have a great day!

Good Afternoon Kids! LOL on the coffee, toomuchreality. Glad the kids didn't get rid of your Keurig. DH doesn't drink coffee every day, but it was so dark & dreary this morning that he told me he was going to buy some on his way to work. I can literally count on both hands how many cups of coffee he drinks every year. Whether it's hot or iced, he doesn't need that much. I'm annoyed because our homeowner's insurance renewal came in the mail, and they want an extra $450 a year. I think it's time to shop around once again.
