I had a very busy weekend. Saturday DD and I worked some on the pool but decided we needed more muscle so we worked in the garden. All the weeding we had done early on was gone, you couldn't tell that we had ever touched that area. Well except where I had planted my peas, that part I had kept weeded. We got the smaller garden area weeded and DD worked on the fence area where my raspberries are planted. They are no longer being choked out by weeds. I planted the 18 broccoli starts I had, thought there were 6 plants in each pot not 9. Oh well, we all like broccoli. Late afternoon DSIL came by and provided the much needed muscle to the pool project. He removed all the old hoses, old pump, old sand filter etc and got the new pretty much set up. We have some more cleaning to do on the inside of the pool and then we can start filling it with water. Today I sprayed all 14 fruit trees. I'm so tired. I use a double sided 8 foot ladder and that thing is heavy. With breaks it took me almost 5 hours to get that done.

I planned on sleeping in today. Don't need to get to DDs to care for Grands until 10:30. But today is the day summer lawn mowing started, so it didn't work out so well. At least it wasn't 6AM. It was 7AM.

Hi Kids! It was a full day today. I had my check-up at the dentist, and unfortunately they'll be getting more of my money.
The great news is, my relative is off the ventilator, and breathing on his own, and I am SO happy about that!

It was 7AM. I wanted to sleep in on Saturday. However, the lawn mowers started around 9:00 AM and the call from my surgeon's office reminding me of my appointment on Tuesday came in at 9:10 AM. I really could not fault people for mowing since it was supposed to get very warm and rain later in the day.

busymom that is great news that your relative is off the ventilator and hopefully the dentist doesn't want too much money. My car is really showing that I'm living in a rural area now. It has been dusty from driving on the dirt roads. Today I picked up a bale of straw for the chickens and the back of my car is full of straw pieces. They loaded the straw for me and it wasn't too hard to push it into the wheel barrow and then get it out where it needed to be. The challenge was the 50lbs of chicken feed. That store didn't load it into the car for me. A clerk put it into the cart but I was on my own at the car. Took some doing but I finally got it into the car. Then again I shoved it into the wheel barrow and rolled it back to the shop and managed to get the sack into a metal garbage can. Hopefully that will keep the rodents out. Looks like the chickens will be coming home to roost on Wednesday. No eggs though for probably another month.

Today was work some more in the garden day. I got enough of an area cleared out to be able to plant my zucchini plant and 4 tomatoes. I also replaced a raspberry bush that had died with a new one. I have hopefully also found a new chiropractor, which is greatly needed. All this hauling, lifting, etc is doing a number on my back.

Good Evening Kids! Good grief Sharon, I'm disappointed that you didn't get any help at the feed store. It may be time for you to buy a pick-up truck. DH's was sure handy when we owned one. Today was a full day. But, ended up being a good one. My relative is continuing to improve, and if he keeps it up, he'll be moving out of ICU in the next day or two, and into a regular hospital room.

Good Morning Kids! I'm buried in paperwork once again. But, it's supposed to rain all day anyway, so I might as well get it done. Later!

With everything that has been going on your way lately busymom, did you ever get a chance to meet DD's boyfriend? Just curious

With everything that has been going on your way lately busymom , did you ever get a chance to meet DD's boyfriend? Just curious I did! It was a short visit, but man, that kid seems like a keeper. And, it's SO nice seeing my DD happy. Considerate young men seem to be in short supply these days, so I'm pleased DD has found one.

As I get older, I've learned to ask for more of the smaller bags instead on a large bag that I struggle with. Just a thought so you don't hurt yourself.

I don't buy the 40 pound bags of cat litter any more. I can't deal with it like I used to be able to do. I'd rather buy the smaller boxes that I can deal with.
So far, I can still handle 20 pound bags of dry cat food. I will hate going to the smaller bags of that.

Rehab is getting expensive here, even with insurance. And, I've had enough back issues, even in my 20's.

Good Afternoon Kids! I went to see my relative at the hospital this morning, and it was SO NICE to NOT have to be in the ICU. He's still got some medical issues to overcome, but I'm loving all of the improvements to date.
Cloudy & cool here today. Unfortunately, our entire holiday weekend might be nothing but stormy weather. But, I've got food I can make using the broiler instead of the grill if I need to.

I've been looking in only having back issues when I do something I shouldn't be doing. I'm sure the day is coming when I can no longer lift the 20 pound bags. Maybe the nephews will help get it in to smaller containers because of the cost difference. The cat litter I buy comes in 14 pound boxes. I can handle those easily. The last two boxes I bought I bought two 20 pound boxes of a different brand because it was cheaper. It was cheaper because it stinks. The litter itself is so perfumed that is what I get hit with when I walk in the house from the garage. It's not what the cats do, it the fragrance in the litter.

I absolutely can't have anything in my house with fragrance. One time I accidentally got scented litter, it went to the curb with a free sign. I've been buying litter whenever I go to see Mom since I can't seem to get the preferred brand in this area. Right now I have just under 100lbs of litter in the garage. The chicken food seemed to only come in 50lbs bags. At least that is all that was on the shelves. I think that DD is going to bring the chickens over today. I was supposed to get them earlier in the week but her family has had a norovirus so I've been keeping my distance.

At the end of my buying big bags of ferret (cat) litter, I opened the big bag while it was still in my car and emptied part of it out into a smaller bag,I could carry more easily to my apt bldg and up 3 flights of stairs. Now days, I struggle with much lighter things!

My chickens came home today. DD brought them over when she came to take me to get my orchard ladder. They are stressed and hiding in the upper part of the coop. I'm using that as my excuse to not mow the lawn this afternoon. Mostly it is really muggy and I just don't want to.

When the Chewy order arrives, I have to open it on the porch and bring it in item by item.

I don't have any currently. But I used to have ferrets. I've had several of them over the years. They're my favorite. But they're really high maintenance and don't have very long lifespans. Do you have pets?

Do you have pets? Yes SEVERAL cats, thanks to some of my ex ##$# neighbors who moved and abandoned them to fend for themselves. Some were indoor cats who had never been outside before and were let out in the cold and snow, some were left behind because they were pregnant, etc., etc. They all have a sad story to tell.

That's so sad and cruel! I can't imagine being left and having no idea what to do, or where to go. No food, water, or shelter. Thank you for your kindness and for caring. It makes me want to give you a big hug! Do you have plans for Memorial weekend? I'll be taking a staycation. Hopefully, I'll get to the cemetery. I'll leave flowers for my dad's parents, my parents and my sister. I have my brother's ashes in my front room. I miss them all so much.
