I went to DGD1s dance recital today. Preschoolers are so fun to watch in things like this. They were darling. Afterward, DD1, her friend and I went out to lunch. They bought mine, to thank me for dog sitting. It was really good and I enjoy their company. Plus I had a LOT of leftovers, I brought home, which will be good. DD2 has applied false lashes for me a few times now. The attach to (under) your natural lashes and look quite good. Since my essential tremors have gotten too bad for me to apply mascara, it's nice to have lashes again. I had a good day! 🙂 Was REALLY happy to read this. You deserve all the "good days" you can get. Thank you. You are too kind. I hope you enjoyed your day/weekend, as well!

toomuchreality I'm glad you had a good day. I miss dance recitals. It was fun to see the kids improve each year and to see the new group of little ones still trying to figure out which foot was the right one. I got several things done in the yard. The main thing I accomplished was lighting off the burn pile. It took a bit to get going because we have had rain lately. Burning ends for the summer at the end of May so I needed to get that pile down. It was probably 7 feet long and 5 feet tall. That was the second pile this spring that large that I have burned. I wish the old chicken coop was down and the old animal shelter. Oh well I can only do what I can do on any given day and eventually stuff will get done. My fire is still smoldering but it mainly the grass clippings and because we have had rain lately, including a brief thundershower this afternoon I will let it smolder for a couple of days.
I'm so tired and tonight was one of those nights when I was glad that I have a tankless hot water heater. Some days you just need that nice long shower.

Hi Kids! It's been a very full day. We did go to church this morning, but I'm cautious around people because Covid rates are going up here again. Lola, our puppy made a mess of the crate she sleeps in, so after church I gave her a bath, then took the crate outside (it's kinda heavy) and hosed it down. DH went over to DD's place to do some work. We discovered with the recent storms that her gutters were full, so he helped clean them out so hopefully they'll work the way they're supposed to now. Caught up on some laundry, worked on some other things, and before I know it the eclipse was happening, so I tried to capture it with my camera. Here's hoping the coming week is a good one!

Ugh! This morning has not started off well, after an early phone call woke me up. My relative went into ICU due to trouble breathing, but at least they've ruled out Covid. It's already a Monday.

Thank you for the positive thoughts. We need some more. He had to be put on a ventilator today. I went to see him, and at least now he seems stable, but ugh, what a day.

That's very sad. I hope the doctors can treat him effectively and get him off the ventilator.

How is your relative doing today busymom ? Hope he is showing at least a little improvement............ No change. But frankly, considering how yesterday was going for a time, I don't consider that to be bad news. Hoping things don't get worse, and that he has the chance to rest & heal.

busymom hope your relative is showing improvement. He IS showing gradual improvement. But, he needs more surgery, so they'll be keeping him on the breathing equipment until he gets thru surgery, hopefully on Friday this week. No point in re-inserting that nasty tube down his throat a 2nd time if they don't have to.

Happy Friday Muffins!!!
Serious roller coaster weather going in here. We have about a 50 degree temperature change in the last 24 hours! It was 90 yesterday and it was 37 this morning. We will only get to about 41 today and up to 4 inches of sNOw and 2 nights of below freezing temps to come! UGH! I know I wasn't ready for the summer heat yet but this is some serious whiplash!
Have a Fabulous Weekend!!!

Hello peeps! I took a Friday afternoon off for a change. First time off all year. Sorry to hear of everyone's issues this week. My SIL's mom is in the hospital with pneumonia; SIL is distraught, as she is an only child and this is her only surviving parent. The doctors cannot get her oxygen levels under control, but she is putting up a good fight. She is one tough Tennessee gal. Got a haircut and went to the bank. Scoped out the new REI store location but did not go in. It is opening day and the parking lot was packed. Never been in an REI, but looked at the website. Place looks like my kind of window shopping.

Good Evening Kids! The hospital was having technology issues, or at least with me, as I didn't get any text updates during the surgery. But, he did well, considering everything, and we're hoping he'll be out of the hospital in about 4-7 days, depending on how it all goes. Icelandic Woman, I'm sorry you might be seeing the white stuff again. Our Winter here really dragged out. In fact, I am just SO happy to see our lilacs blooming right now. It's my favorite part of Spring. NancysSummerSip, I'm sorry to hear of the problems your SIL's Mom is having. Hopefully she'll pull through.

Good morning my up and at 'em peeps. SIL's mom is doing better. Heart is stable and oxygen is good. Of course, she hates to be in the hospital, as she thinks she is too much bother for the busy staff. They love her. Heavy rain overnight, and today is very humid. No chores this morning after my swim and WalMart stop. Nice to have a light day for a change.

DD and kids are coming over today, not sure what projects will be on the list today. I would like to get the pool cleaned out and see if we can get it up and running. Tonight for dinner is pulled pork sandwiches and a broccoli/cauliflower salad. The pork just went in the oven a little bit ago, the salad was made yesterday so it could marinate overnight. DD is going to make homemade buns and I made a chocolate cookie cake, or Texas sheet cake as I have also heard it called, for dessert. The bed has been changed, the second load of laundry is going and the dishwasher has been ran.

Good afternoon, everyone!
I need to finish bringing in my groceries from my car. Then I'll probably have lunch, followed by a few chores. (Assuming I don't fall asleep.) It would be nice to get some things done.
The weather here is pretty much perfect today. I love it!
Whatever you're doing, I hope it brings you joy. Even if it's not directly, or immediate. I hope you get some satisfaction out of it, at some point.

We've got a cold snap here. Nowhere close to freezing, but it feels like Fall in the air. Oh well, when it's cooler, then the lilacs hold onto their flowers longer, so it's not all bad. I went to visit my relative at the hospital today. Supposedly, he's doing better than after his last surgery. However, they're not able to wean him off of the ventilator quite yet, but at least he tried.

OK, so crazy thing happened this afternoon. Normally, I am in rest mode the day before a race. Today, for some reason, I felt like I needed to get outside and weed and trim the yard. I'd leave mowing the lawn for tomorrow after the race. I go outside, trim the fences and yard edges and I am pulling weeds out front, and a car drives up and parks in front of the house next door. Two women get out and haul some unknown items to the front door, and ring the bell and knock. No answer, but then, neither of the neighbors' cars are there (and they have too much kid stuff to park in the garage). The women drop the items at the front door and leave. I thought it was just odd; they looked nervous being there and it was known (at least to me) that the neighbors were not there. So I stopped weeding and went over (I've taken in their packages before, so doing it is no big deal; they are Amazon Prime's best customers, I think) Turns out the stuff was raw meat - two huge briskets, a huge chocolate cake, cookies and tortilla chips. It's 90 degrees out and they just left the stuff. The briskets were about 25 pounds each and $250 each, from Costco. Seriously, when I approached the front of the house, I thought they had left a body on the steps (well, they kinda did, I guess). I got DH to pull down our big cooler, and we loaded the meat into it (I have two fridges, but neither has that kind of space) and brought all the ice I had over to keep the meat cool. I brought the cake and cookies into my house. I checked with a few other neighbors, thinking the delivery was misdirected. But no one was waiting for food. Just as I got back to my house, the neighbor husband arrived. He wondered why Instacart had gotten all fancy, delivering his meat in a cooler! Um, no, that's mine; Instacart dumped it on your doorstep, I explained. He was shocked but happy his food was safe.
And no, I did not fork into that cake. I really, really wanted to, though.

That was lucky for your neighbor, in so many ways! 1- Lucky you were around and took care of his stuff. 2- Lucky you didn't just take, or keep his items. 3- Lucky you actually did something, besides just look and then leave it all. 4- Lucky you didn't eat his damn cake! 5- Lucky it was you, not me! He should play the Beefeaters lottery tonight! 90° weather is not what they meant when they promised him "hot and fresh, at your door!", I don't think.

Hello peeps! A calmer day today. Did my second to last race for the season - hot of course, but finished fifth in an expanded age group (60-69), so not unhappy. Came home, unpacked and took a shower (cleaned the shower while in there), ran the dishwasher and laundry. We went out for ice cream (the pet store is nearby and we needed cat food anyway) and now back. Dishwasher is empty and dryer is running.
BTW, I have no idea what happened to all that food. They do attend a big church in town, so maybe it was for a party there. I don't smell anything grilling or smoking outside at the moment. It's hot here - anyone need a drink?

Hi Kids! My relative is doing better, and they're going to attempt to remove the ventilator today, so prayers & positive thoughts are appreciated! We're having another cold snap again. It's barely gotten past 50 degrees here. Not awful, but I had a cup of hot chocolate last night. Yes, I was THAT chilled.
