Well the disease of addiction progresses. Maddawg/Roger now his wife. She became depressed and basically drank herself sick and died. This is what the disease does unless treated.

On the home front I am watching a childhood friend who at 14 turned to drugs and alcohol to cover the pain of dealing with the murder of his then 17 yr old older sister. He has spent a lifetime squashing the pain with benzoids (the valium family) bought illegally through mailorder and alcohol. With his family, his father, brother and sister, I have done three interventions only to have him break out of rehab. He sits in a million dollar condo over looking the beach in Santa Monica, Ca. wrecked the place, and drinks two fifths of vodka a day. His business, his relationships, his life in ruins. He will die soon, we have made our peace.

Another friend my age, a career military man, severly hurt in Iraq, has reached out to me. 5th of bubon and pain pills, is not doing it anymore.  He is beginning to go to meeting  with me and has re started counseling at the VA.  Prayers for him.

I have started back into college working on my full bachelor's in drug education. a CADDAC 2 License. When I retire from the studios I will work as a licensed drug counselor, its something I have to do.

I've seen to much death and mayhem recently from this disease.  Its powerful, cunning.  We play a lot of games in our head.  "Oh, I'll only drink Fridays, or wine, or just with friends, BULLSHIT, if you got a problem save your life.  It was the hardest thing I ever did, the hardest.  But at over 13 and a half years sober, my life is pretty damn cool.  (Except for people dying from the disease around me) Be well everyone!

how is everything? All good on this end. DSD has 3+ yrs of sobriety
she has started school for Addiction Counselling and Human Services

Some days are like that. I guess you have to try and see the humor in things.
