Think of how great you will feel when offered a drink at some point down the road and you will able to reply, "Thank you but I don't drink alcohol."
You've taken the first steps toward that day - keep it up.
Most people know I'm sober, my closest friends whether they want a drink or not for the most part won't even drink around me. Not because they fear I may start drinking again, but out of respect for the change I made, for support. When I go to peoples homes, half the time when asked if I'd like something to drink, I don't make a "thing" out of it. Usually I say club soda or soda, etc. If pressed, I'll make a joke, "I'm one of "THOSE" guys or "when I drink, I break out in handcuffs" You have to understand, I'm not anonymous about my being in recovery, some are, their choice. I play guitar for fun, sometimes I sit in with peoples bands, performing at a club. (I don't like bars or do I go) So I go just before my set, I go straight to the stage, do my thing, hang out a minute and leave. You won't find me hanging out in the liquor Isle of the market.... Why would you? Its all about living life differently, that's all

Day nine everyone!!! Thank you all for being so supportive❤️ I like being able to talk to you guys because I really don't want to talk to my family about it (except DH) because one. I don't need a leture and two I don't want to deal with the recovering alcoholics and have them try to give me advice that doesn't even work for them sometimes. To be honest, talking to my family about certain things is a trigger so avoidance is best with that.
The only people who never make mistakes are those who aren't doing anything. When you give voice to your anger you're speaking through your brain's more primitive limbic system not its cortex. Is that what you want?

Good morning all! Sunday 5:30 am in sunny southern California. The heatwave has broken, heading out on the dirtbike with 4 other sober guys going riding in the forest/desert in a 13,000 acre offroad park. Barbecue some hamburgers. That's how you do it. I wish everyone well.
Marley? How are you?
Scotish Lassie, one day, one step at a time. I keep it real, I stay responsible for my actions, I don't hold anything in. Quick to forgive. That's how you do it.
I have a nephew who is an extreme alcoholic. I've mentioned him on this thread before. He is now talking suicide. We, in the family, are all worried.
I've noticed that the many times he has tried to stop drinking, as with other alcoholics I've watched, he would start pounding the sugar foods. I've brought this subject up before and maybe it's been acknowledged, but was wondering if anyone has approached the alcohol craving with yeast/Candida overgrowth in the body? I know I keep harping about Candida/yeast overgrowth, but to me it just seems so obvious. Eat the right foods, take the probiotics, heal the gut, balance the body, and the craving will eventually go away.
My nephew doesn't believe me and will soon not be living.
Here is a little clip I found, that makes 100% sense to me and explains it better than I can. Alcohol In excess kills off friendly bacteria, increases toxic overload of the liver, and allow candida overgrowth dysbiosis (imbalance). Add to this dilemma the fact that alcohol is actually a yeast by-product and you can see the potential problems. People with extreme CO(Candida overgrowth) can have high blood alcohol levels and literally be drunk, just from eating sugar. This moderate “high” is one explanation for intense sugar cravings. There is another interesting aspect to alcohol and yeast. Every living thing that eats must create waste on the other end. Usually that waste is toxic (poisonous) to the organism. Not so with yeast.
The alcoholic by –products it creates can actually serve as a fertilizer to help it grow further. This explains why various researchers have indicated that everyone who drinks alcohol regularly (daily or a few times weekly) is likely harboring Candida Overgrowth.

Yikes!
Sorry, I'm not familiar, so can't be of any help. I hope someone else can / does.
