Take one glance at nature, living things eat other living things to survive and reproduce, life is built around one main principle " Thou shalt kill ". How is it possible that a creator, so full of love, created a world and a nature where animals can live only by killing other animals that have to endure terrible pain and suffering ? If men kill each other, it is sin- they need not. But, animals cannot live without killing the other animals for food.

When I was around 15 or 16, I flirted with Christianity a bit. I wasn't a church-goer, didn't read the Bible much, but I did pray even if I hadn't been sold on the idea yet.
But when VK died, I began a very rapid conversion to atheism/agnosticism. One of the reasons for it is because atheism made it easier to accept VK's loss. If there really was a God, then there was someone to blame (other than the terrorists, of course). I had no desire to believe that God would allow this to happen ... as you said, to grant me such a connection with VK only to have it snatched away. Why?
Well, without God, I didn't have to ask why. I could just accept the fact that VK and his family were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. It happens. Just bad luck. No amount of "God works in mysterious ways," or "VK is in a better place now," or "This is part of a greater good" nonsense was going to console me. Not to mention the fact that VK wasn't Christian, he was Hindu (though not a practicing one). According to Christian beliefs, VK is stoking the fires of Hell, not lounging around in paradise ... so comforting words from Christians tasted like ashes in my mouth.
VK's death was what made me begin to question the validity of God, and the more I did so, the less sense it all made.

Even more time? No ... I spend enough time "hunting and gathering" things like my misplaced car keys, the TV remote, a pen that actually works, and a good parking spot at the grocery store.

Nobody with a functioning brain has any faith in politics, another medium for deceit and false promises.

I disagree with you here, mate. You're either a left winger or a right one and even so most people have faith and trust in politics...even if not in God. Politics and Religion are quite interlinked, no?

Good afternoon to my mate Jemima and to Roy.....of course.
You are hardly disagreeing with me if you agree with me, I never stated nobody has faith in politics, I believe I clearly stated nobody with a functioning brain has faith in politics. Regardless of ones political affiliations the evidence is clear, politics is powerless against the global free market and the unelected shareholders who control it.
Politicians like our religious leaders are indeed interlinked, they both pretend they have power and both make promises they do not possess the power to keep, they believe this pretense is necessary in order to preserve law and order. Both institutions are convinced the general masses can not handle the truth, and who am I to disagree with them.
Thank you for your valued contribution, dear.

Roy and I are good friends, we respect each others viewpoints and differences, you are mistaken my dear.
Vile human beings like Joyce and Joel get under my skin, they are frauds, this is the one and only reason why I have visited your board on 2 occasions.

I see you're over here stirring, femme. Am I to take that as your answer to the problem that's arisen? If so, there are a few others who have a right to weigh in before a decision is made.

Sorry, Joey. If you haven't been reading the "God Lovers" thread, you wouldn't be aware of the ongoing discussion. I'm right at the edge of locking both these threads if the pot-stirring and fighting doesn't stop. If I have to do that, there will be no more religiously-based threads tolerated. We've been here before, and we let these go with the caveat that if trouble was the result, the threads would be removed.

I thought we did okay for a while there.
In all honesty I do worry about people that don't ask ENOUGH QUESTIONS. I teach my children not to follow blindly ----anything or anyone. If you have nothing to hide, you have no fear of questions.
