Most people take some form of mind altering substance, how many people do not take alcohol, recreational or prescription drugs ? --------------------------- You neglected to mention coffee. Most people are unable to function at all without coffee. I could quit coffee, if I wanted to! I don't drink coffee much anymore either nor do I smoke....anything.

Well, in my case, I don't have to worry. I've been fixed, so to speak. Some religions would consider getting fixed, a sin. Really? Well I believe in it.

God is the personification of love, love is the strongest drug of them all, religion was not called the opiate of the people for nothing.
However it is still not enough, maybe we really need to take the words of Jesus literally. love everybody and be loved by everybody.

Love is definitely a strong drug. I have to agree.

JA, I saw you mentioning dreams earlier. That was interesting. I have had some pretty interesting ones myself, that later on became real...But in a different kind of way, if that makes any sense?

We will get there one day, one of the advantages of studying evolution is one can see the slow incremental process towards our ultimate survival and well being.

More like fiancial reasons. The poverty rate has risen and hard to feed all those unplanned babies. wouldn't that mean you'd want the birth control then? to prevent those unplanned babies? As I said before, I believe the guy should be snipped. Much safer for the woman with all the young girls pumping estrogen into their bodies with the risk of breast cancer.

lol, my favorite film is The Big Lebowski and I was born a couple of hundred years too early, although the 20th and 21 st centuries have been interesting times.
Imagine me in the Bronze Age, I would have been crucified. ;D

Coffee never was or is an illegal drink. It may give you a boost, but not mind altering. They do say it helps with headaches along with tylenol and makes the brain sharper. It is not a downer as alcohol or narcotics or illegal substances.

Nanna? Do you think that drinking (of course responsibly) is bad in God's eyes? Just curious.

I will take a White Chocolate Mocha from Starbucks any day. The thing is, it has been known when you do stop caffeine all together you will have migraines..or bad headaches. It happened to me a few times. I just stick with my energizers that go in my water.

I think when you let something control you, then its a problem.. Moderation is key to anything.. shopping, eating, drinking.. all except one thing!

Caffeine and Nicotine are mind altering, the effect to ones state of mind may be less than other drugs but they are drugs never the less.
Consumerism or materialism is a form of drug, why do you think we built our cultures around shopping ?
