Hi Stormy! Just butting in from the Int'l thread, my opinion is worth exactly what you paid for it LOL.
I would use the 6K to pay off as many debts as I could. I looked at your table, so I would pay off CC2 and the store card, and put the rest towards CC5. Then I would snowball CC5 with the former payments from CC2 and the store card.
Is there any way you could stay in your current position until December, and take the new position then? Or sometime between April and December? I do realize it may well not be possible, it's just a thought, because if you could do that, you'd have more money to throw at debt before taking the pay cut.
Good luck!

entlzha: 2/07/2011 $1,863.41 (3/13/2010 5173.02 WU94)
Finally getting around to updating for payments made last week... You'd think that lousy weather would make me more likely to sit around on the computer -- not less likely! :-)
January plugged along about like I'd expected it to, money-wise. I had some car repair expenses to pay for last week, but oddly enough, it turned out to cost exactly what I currently had in my car repair/maint fund - $173.00! What an awesome coincidence!

Well, as everyone can see there have been no debt payments. We are saving to fully fund our emergency fund ($1000) and getting our very sick truck up and running again. And sad to say I still do not have a job - so I have been looking into going back to school. I have narrowed it down to two schools in the Alb area for Vet Tech training. Normally I would not consider this but DH job is willing to pay half of my education after the first six months of the program. I go on the 22nd, my birthday, to visit both schools and make a final decision. Wish me luck!!!!!

Update: Trojen3: 2/9/11; $92,865.55 (1/22/10 $99,500.13 W42,166) It's been weeks since I've been on here! So much has happened! Meant to get this post out last week, but I've been battling a cold. Definitely getting better though! This month is panning out to be MUCH better than the past 3 months! Dentistry has picked up and I'm feeling great about where things are headed. And, in one month from today, DH will be home from Afghanistan! It's gone by in that weird slow but quick way. We're both getting antsy and can't wait to have a normal conversation again! In other good news, my dad started to prepare our taxes and it appears (from the preliminaries) that we wont owe nearly as much as we thought. 2 of my jobs give me a 1099 tax form so I save 30% of each paycheck for taxes. I have nearly $7,000 saved and will hopefully be able to use a good chunk of that to pay off SL #4 and who knows, maybe a little towards SL #2!!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed. That would be GREAT news! Here's my update. I hope everyone is having a great week. Name of Debt | Current Date | Current Debt $ | Starting Date | Starting Debt | Total Paid | % Paid off | CC#1 | 2/9/11 | $0.00 | 1/22/10 | $5,939.78 | $5,939.78 | 100.00% | CC#2 | 2/9/11 | $0.00 | 1/22/10 | $4,327.10 | $4,327.10 | 100.00% | Car Loan | 2/9/11 | $5,988.79 | 1/22/10 | $8,293.60 | $2,304.81 | 27.79% | SL #1 | 2/9/11 | $2,625.42 | 1/22/10 | $3,454.33 | $828.91 | 24.00% | SL #2 | 2/9/11 | $4,436.59 | 1/22/10 | $5,002.40 | $565.81 | 11.31% | SL #3 | 2/9/11 | $46,622.39 | 8/11/10 | $42,554.84 | ($4,067.55) | -9.56% | SL #4 | 2/9/11 | $3,656.36 | 8/11/10 | $3,507.29 | ($149.07) | -4.25% | SL #5 | 2/9/11 | $0.00 | 8/11/10 | $1,186.87 | $1,186.87 | 100.00% | SL #6 | 2/9/11 | $29,536.00 | 8/11/10 | $25,233.92 | ($4,302.08) | -17.05% | Total | | $92,865.55 | | $99,500.13 | $6,634.58 | 6.67%

UPDATEIt's time for an update. I struggled a little this month with forcing myself to make my snowball payment. For some reason I just wanted to leave the money in the bank so that I could stare at a higher balance. It started on payday when I called my bank's automated number to check that my paycheck had been deposited. It had (and a few recent checks hadn't cleared yet) and my balance was pretty healthy. I got depressed because I realized that in a few days (after paying bills) my balance would be very low again. I would love to be able to just keep my hard earned money sometime. I sure am tired of this but at least I am making progress. Here's the update. Name of Debt | 12/2/08 Starting Bal. | Previous date | Previous debt | Current Date | Current Debt $ | Total Paid | % Paid off | Citibank | $4,715.11 | 1/13/2011 | $0.00 | 2/9/2011 | $0.00 | $4,715.11 | 100.00% | Chase HELOC 1 | $51,700.00 | 1/13/2011 | $0.00 | 2/9/2011 | $0.00 | $51,700.00 | 100.00% | Chase HELOC 2 | $56,234.65 | 1/13/2011 | $45,900.00 | 2/9/2011 | $44,100.00 | $12,134.65 | 21.58% | Private loan | $45,700.79 | 1/13/2011 | $0.00 | 2/9/2011 | $0.00 | $45,700.79 | 100.00% | Total | $158,350.55 |

Update for February! Runmarathons: 2/10/2011 $153,894.84 (1/19/2010, $161,538, WU37) Name of Debt | Interest | Paid this Month | Current Debt $ | Starting Debt | Total Paid | % Paid off | House | 5.75% | $1,080.20 | $140,741.75 | $143,141.00 | $2,399.25 | 1.68% | Student Loan | 4.875% | $63.29 | $12,607.17 | $12,943.00 | $335.83 | 2.59% | Prosper Loan | 10.30% | $162.04 | $545.92 | $4,654.00 | $4,108.08 | 88.27% | SAS Loan | 0.00% | $0.00 | $0.00 | $800.00 | $800.00 | 100.00% | Total | - | $1,305.53 | $153,894.84 | $161,538.00 | $7,643.16 | 4.73% |
The new year is moving along...can't believe it's already February. It feels great to be down to $545 on the Prosper loan. I'm doing my taxes tonight, hopefully I get some $$$ back. I just found out about super coupon shopping, I read a blog about someone who lived on $1 a day for food, it amazed me . There is a completely different world out there that I had no idea about! I am excited to see how much I can learn about saving $$$ on groceries and household items because whatever I save can be added to decrease my debt! Plus I'm ready to not worry about whether I'll have enough food for the month Here's hoping for new coupon adventures in February and continuing to defeat this debt! Anyone have any experience with super coupons? 4 months to my next 0!

Update: shanendoah: 2/11/11 $46,173.89 (12/30/09, $71,761.03, WU7, WU73) LOC | Current Balance | Starting Balance | Originally Borrowed | Total Paid | % Paid off | Chase CC | $- | $2,171.85 | - | $2,171.85 | 100.00% | BofA CC | $- | $432.55 | - | $432.55 | 100.00% | LaZBoy CC | $- | $882.58 | - | $882.58 | 100.00% | Care Credit | $- | $3,196.57 | - | $3,196.57 | 100.00% | Car | $- | $4,771.88 | - | $4,771.88 | 100.00% | GSL | $29,341.47 | $42,150.85 | $39,000 | $12,809.38 | 30.39% | USL | [glow=green,2,300]$16,832.42 [/glow] | $18,154.75 | $16,000 | $1,322.33 | 7.28% | Total | $46,173.89 | $71,761.03 | | $25,587.14 | 35.66%
So today was the last time I will ever pay over $50 in interest on the USL, so it will be going down by a minimum of $110+ every month, meaning that in October, I will finally owe less on it than I originally borrowed. (I know I mentioned this only a week ago, but with 3+ years until my next 0, I really, really need to keep myself reminded of the milestones I am reaching.) clubs: Is there a 25-50k club? I see the 50k plus and the 5500 to 24k, but nothing for those of us in betweenAsked that question, then looked again and found it.

Well, had to change my school visits to March 1st. Now i have to go on my own without DH. Was hoping to get his opinion and thoughts but guess not.
We rolled over more money to our emergency fund - we need less than forty dollars to reach our one thousand dollar goal. I know it sound trivial, but we need to file taxes this year for his business, and we know it will cost a lot - so until that is done we are holding on to it just in case.
We are not sure who to start paying first; the bills listed on our credit reports or the smallest bills first. What do you all thing?! We would really like some input in this.

I filed my taxes on Friday with the accountant, I am getting back what I figured. A few things have come up unfortunately (at least it is when some money is on its way). I have several areas in my house where the fuses keep shorting out. what that means for my return is another 2k is going toward upgrading my electric. Two of my pups were taken by an exbf. I will miss them tremendously, but I have four remaining dogs who are very happy with the extra attention. Now the bf is gone, I realize how remorseful nI felt toward him not contributing to bills, but just in food. Don't get me wrong, he did help me tremendously with the kids, but still..... I will be able to save on dog food now, and one of the pups was really high maintenance, had to mop everyday. now with the added free time, I get extra sleep and more time to walk the others. I will still miss them though. Thursday, I am going to NY, my sis had a baby and they think she has downs. Extra flight money =but well worth it.

Well, now that the venting is over- down to business I will be receiving about 12k back in taxes. The breakdown I have figured is as follows: DS 1 truck- 2k DS 2 school trip- 2k DS 2 tutoring- 1700 Electric- 2500 (hopefully overestimate) Florida Trip- 500 ( to see my 94 year old uncle) That leaves about 4k, I am not going to spend it toward debt quite yet, I need to be sure my bathroom gets finished without other incurred charges. Should all go as intended, I still am fighting myself on where to apply. I think I will go with debtheavens idea of getting the zero, but the other cc will default to 8% come July. I want it paid off before then

Welcome back, happy campers, to another round of shout-outs! dsunshine: Glad you are getting such great news!! Hope the new renter works out! And I’ve changed your numbers to reflect your new post. shanendoah: Congrats on hitting the $25K mark – and getting your interest down so far on your SL! We’ll help celebrate those milestones together! lvbriannaRN: Good luck with those taxes – only a bit more to go into savings and you’ll be ready for them! Sounds like you are doing well with baby, jeans notwithstanding! SalalSal: Hope he brought home some bacon in exchange for those hunting clothes! Your paydown is going so well – Can’t wait for you to reach your under-$200K goal! LaramiK: Whoo-hoo!! Paid off more than 50% of your debt!! You are going great guns! stormysix: You are making the most of a bad situation with the new job – hope the salary isn’t too much of a cut. Sounds like you have a plan for success! And since you are taking a salary cut, maybe putting your refund toward CC3 will help with that since your monthy payment declines so much. Will the CC company use the money to pay toward the 3.99% debt first though? entlzha: Look at you go!! You’ve paid off 64% of your debt and running down that last little bit of it!! Glad you had your savings to cover your car repair bill! One Step Closer: Good luck with your school trips!! Sorry to hear you’re without a job, but this could be opportunity in disguise! And double yeah for your DH’s employer willing to pay half the education expenses after you’ve started!! alpinista: Oops – a bit of a backward motion, but glad to hear you are on the prowl to kick your debt! Can’t wait to see your post in March!! Trojen3: Glad you are feeling better and that your job is picking up! So happy that your DH will be home soon with you!! femalesam: It is nice to have all that money in the bank! But I’m looking at all your zeros in your table – that’s pretty awesome! As is the way your discipline has paid off to the tune of 72.15% of debt gone forever!! Maybe having a bit of a cushion in your checking account may not be such a bad thing…? runmarathons: Good luck with your couponing! And you are defeating your debt, one buck at a time!! The ladies on the Grocery Challenge thread take super-couponing to the nth degree – reading their posts is very inspirational AND they have handouts on how to do it! Good luck!! SlowbutSure: Think the head-banging smiley is perfect for the 100K owed – although with the way you are paying this down you won’t be able to use it for long!! I’m ready for spring, too, although we usually get more snow in March…. Gack! shanendoah: Yeah for you on paying off so much of your USL that your interest is under $50!! I think of interest as the blood-sucking leech stealing part of the debt payment, so watching you grind that thing under your heel is wonderful! ! Better living, vicariously! OneStepCloser: Congrats on almost reaching your EF goal!! Nothing about money is trivial, especially saving it – just ask any one of us on this board!! We totally understand about the EF. Why don’t you list your debts by type and include interest rate and if/when any promo rates disappear – there is a lot of talent and experience with paydown on this board, but we need numbers to help! You might also mention if there are any debts you’d love to get rid of first…. sealy: we didn’t have your THIRD race down, so now you are on the charts! Welcome back – we welcome your inspiration! ambellamy: Nice update!! Have you decide what you will do with DF’s debt? And a big HUZZAH for paying off the David’s Bridal card! dvm07: Great paydown!! I know this wrong, but I love the little faces with the tears – did you notice that the tears fall for both eyes? Fascinating! I hope that the thought of your debt providing enjoyment for some of us helps with your day!!! stormysix: Sorry to hear about your electrical issues. I’m very sorry to hear that your XBF took your dogs! I hope your sister and her baby are ok. The fun part of getting money back on taxes is deciding where to spend it! Good luck!! And dang, why can’t I get sent to Cozumel for work instead of Arkansas?? Great going, stormy!! Well, that ends the shout-outs for this time. But stay tuned, West Racers, for our next installment!! Until next time, happy paydown and hope you all are doing well!!

I still haven't figured out what to do with DF's debt. We are going to wait till after the move this weekend and next to sit down and discuss everything when we look at the numbers for our tenative March Budget.
So, hopefully I'll know what the game plan is in early March. I haven't told him about this board, but he knows I blog about everything online... So I think it will be a good conversation.

One Step Closer: 02/17/11 $ 24,774.76 (12/27/10, $31, 903.09, WU218)
Well, its happen. Our very old used truck finally took dead on us - after only two months of owning it. We have found faulty wiring through out it. So we have it up for sale at a huge loss - since new wiring will cost more a few thousand dollars. We will be getting a newer used vehicle soon - I hope. So all the savings that was for debt has been put towards another vehicle. Maybe next month we can pay on debt agian - or at least I hope so!!!

Okay, I decided to go ahead and start my second race!! We just got all of our cc paid off from our PCS from mississippi to california. So, here goes: twinmama16 $30,550.46 2/17/2011 Accounts | Start | Current | Difference | % | OBGYN | $1,550 | $1,550 | | 0% | SL1 | $4,148.64 | $4,148.64 | | 0% | SL2 | $3,226.73 | $3,226.73 | | 0% | SL3 | $1,071.82 | $1,071.82 | | 0% | Edge | $20,553.27 | $20,553.27 | | 0% |
The ob bill is interest free, the student loans are at 6.8% and I believe the truck is sitting at 8% (thin credit caused for a higher interest rate) I live in Vandenberg AFB California
