Wow, so many things in common, including becoming afraid to eat, afraid to leave home, and this “I'd been gaslighted for years and made to feel that because my illness wasn't clinically worse, the severity and frequency of my symptoms and the impact on my quality of life didn't matter,"I couldn’t have worded it better myself, because that’s exactly how I feel, except to add attendance issues at my job. Thank you for sharing that. I’m going to bookmark it. I couldn't like this post but

Just got back from Rhodes. Everyone is supposed to be aboard right now, we got in about 30 min ago. We went to see the ruins in Lindos, and walked the ancient town. I found a pharmacy, looking for some chlorohexidine soap for TD. Don’t have, but have something comparable. I found a light blue sweater I liked, bought it and then worked my way out of the maze of the town to meet up with the rest of the group. Scritched a few resident cats, contemplated getting a fresh juice and the group arrived. Then something happened to my eye and had a horrible allergic response. My eye swelled up, started watering and eyeball turned red. We were on our way to lunch, but there was a pharmacy down the street so got something to help. Eye doesn’t look as bad now. Lunch was fabulous Greek food. Went to the ruins of an old monetary that overlooked Rhodes. Also had peacocks trying to get laid and the males were screaming and strutting their plumage. Watching the peacocks was more fun. After this, wound up at the Grand Master’s Palace, then went into Old Town Rhodes. I could have spent more time (and money) here, but only bought some orange honey and left so we could get back to the ship. About my eye, another few drops of the antihistamine eye drops, and almost stopped watering. I suspect the cat I scritched was one that I’m allergic to. This has happened before, my old neighbor’s cat used to cause me issues too, but 99% of them don’t. It was a good day. xH and I went there on our honeymoon almost 49 years ago - dang I am not just getting old, I AM old(er). It was the year of the Cyprus crisis in August and very few tourists were interested in visiting. We had the place practically to ourselves and I have many wonderful memories of that place and not just because we were newly weds either.

This weekend I took a huge load of misc stuff (including two boxes of books) to GW. Today I had this moment where I decided I needed to get rid of some serving/baking etc. dishes. In no time I filled up another box. But I put the items on the local buy nothing group on facebook. They will be picked up tomorrow morning. It took all of 10 minutes before I had an eager taker. Feeling happy about that. They dishes which have not been used in years will go to a place where they are wanted

And here I thought mister wanted to use pebbles under the raised beds to improve drainage. Nothing in my mind ever went to retaining soil or reducing weeds. All that to say that if you ever need a gardener don't look in my direction

Made it here, but it was awful. I can't believe they didn't cancel. I suppose they figured they'd never be able.to reschedule the guest artist. Getting home is going to be a nightmare. We couldn't even see the traffic lights because they were thick with snow and the visibility on the ridge is pretty much zero. Liked for the bolded part only!

Nice to see that AP is at the top of the heap as that is one of my main sources of news. And the others are in the layer just below that. On the other hand it is the number of highly right leaning news sources in the lowest/ fairy tale is scary. As are those two left leaning sources, one of which is close to fairy tale land and the other is squarely in it.

Seattle and the Puget Sound area are good, though it can be pretty expensive here too. Northwest Washington in general should be fine, although Southwest and Eastern Washington are more conservative. State laws do not target women and minorities because Western Washington has many more voters and they are much more liberal. I am not a fan of the Seattle City Council, in that I think they have gone overboard in not holding people accountable for negative social behaviors. As a result, things like in-your-face homelessness and property crime have increased. Violent crime, however, is still well below the national average, as I recall. Most neighborhoods are perfectly safe to walk in at night. Some areas should probably be avoided, as in any large city. Another benefit is that pretty much anything you want to do is no more than a day trip away. Lakes, beaches, mountains, ocean, three national parks.... Very good restaurants, arts, and cultural attractions. Some people complain about the weather, in that it is often gray and rainy for a few months, but summers are maybe the best anywhere, and there are basically none of the weather extremes, disasters, or bugs that other places deal with. All I know is that I'm never leaving. There are a lot of places that are nice to visit. To live? I'll stick with this one. That is very appealing, the closest city to me is Nashville. We use to go to Nashville fairly often when I was in my early teens. We’d go to football games because my cousin was a majorette at TSU. I’ve been several times over the last 10 years, for various reasons that never including Nashville being somewhere I really wanted to visit lol. Mister loves Nashville. I do not. We have also run away to Little Rock, AR, just because it’s fairly close and we wanted to get away from home for 2 or 3 days. And Hot Springs. But there’s only so many times I want to go to Hot Springs. Other than those places, we’d have to drive around 6 hours at least to get to somewhere interesting to me. I would not do well with that weather. A few days in a row of rainy weather starts to affect my mood. I need sunshine! Just for the record: we do have all that good stuff just as close by here as well! The area I live in is quite diverse though African Americans are under represented*. And no matter which way you cut it, it is quite expensive to live here. * The only reason I more or less know the ethnic breakdown of my county is because they reported the vaccination statistics by age and ethnic groups. So that is when I found out the people of Asian heritage are the largest group by a few percent over Caucasian. Next are Hispanic, and then some small other groups among which African American came in at 3% only.

And now there is this report: news.yahoo.com/billionaire-harlan-crow-bought-property-185616251.htmlI will admit that I never liked Clarence Thomas because I absolutely believed Anita Hill, but he always managed to keep a low profile. Lately his mask is slipping at an accelerating rate though and what we get to see is not just ugly but makes it highly questionable that he is even remotely able to render an unbiased judgement IMO.

Well, for the last 27 or so years I have lived in CA and I like it here. If it were not for the facts that (1) I no longer have any family living in any part of the Americas, and (2) I am not convinced this country will not continue on the trumpian slide I wouldn't feel any need to leave. I do feel safe here and, while it is by no means perfect, it fits with my life philosophy (live and let live and be kind). It is however an expensive place to live, especially for those coming from many if not all other states as selling their home might barely provide a down payment for a smaller home here.
I feel quite safe here even if it is not as safe as Singapore, my previous residence, but it is safer than Bangkok (my home before that). I expect that safety and freedom wise there will not be much change for me once I move to Europe. As with all my moves I will miss my friends/local "family". I will also miss my tree-house condo and the wonderful Bay Area climate. If I could take all these along with me life would be perfect but we can't have it all can we now...

I work for NYS. I have to do a super detailedyearly financial disclosure, and I can’t accept a gift from anyone other than family or close friends. I can’t understand why the Supreme Court is any different. It’s not like I’m making decisions that effect everyone in the entire country. Out of curiosity you have to disclose who the close friends are? Or the gifts they give you when those gifts are large? Clarence, don't accept a can of coke from him, Thomas could claim these were gifts from a close friend so these gifts would be "ok" if not disclosed?

You would think that at 71yo I would have learned some things but no.... As I mentioned before I go walking for a couple of hours every week with a good friend on Tuesdays. Last week we went to a bird sanctuary and it was a beautiful day; little bit of wind, perfect temps, and sunny. So I promptly got a sunburn on my face. I should have taken a hat. This week it was very cloudy so I did not take a hat. I should have known better, I DID know better! This is normal here in the Bay Area. 45 minutes in the sun came out and stayed out for the rest of the day. We walked for another ~2 hours and, you guessed it, who has a sunburn again? My face is not happy: it itches but when I touch it, it hurts. Grumble, grumble, grumble

If you mean that the American Republicans don't get to vote in most circumstances (dual citizenship may provide exceptions) you are correct. But not a Right Winger is sight? HA! There are plenty (far too many and nothing I, as a European, am proud of) Right Wingers in Europe who are trying to push through their agenda exactly like they do here in the US. And it doesn't paint a prettier picture either. If you can't see that you may want to start looking a little closer at the big picture

Any thoughts on why Rep. Gloria Johnson was not expelled along with the other 2? Amid social media commentary and reports suggesting why Rep. Gloria Johnson was not expelled while two Black representatives were expelled, Rep. Lowell Russell (R-Vonore) said he voted not to expel Johnson because she “did not participate to the extent that Jones and Pearson did.” .... “Either Jones or Pearson smuggled a bullhorn into the chamber. The two used that bullhorn to shout and scream and incite the crowd to chant “no action, no peace”. The video showed Johnson did not appear to do anything other than stand near the Well and mover her lips,” he said in the statement. link I heard Johnson's answer on the news here when she was asked that question. And she said she was convinced that it is because of her skin color and how it would have gone over with the voting public if they had evicted a white woman. Somehow I think she nailed it...

And that word " why" brings us straight back to the original discussion. While I don't remember whether this happened during kindergarten or first grade of DS2 parent-teacher conference I will never forget that teacher telling me your DS reminded me to always ask children why they did something. She then proceeded to put one of his worksheets in front of me. On it they had to circle things that were not hot and DS had circled the iron. According to her the first time she could remember a child doing that so she told him an iron was hot. DS got upset at her being wrong and pointed out it was not plugged in and so it was NOT hot. And this brings me back to the drawing and I wondered why no one talked at all to the child about this. And why the principal, after hearing the mother's "why" still felt the need to dig in instead of explaining why she had initially been worried about the drawing and then (preferably graciously) accepted the parent's explanation. Watching out for a child's well being is wonderful and I believe the vast majority of teachers do a very good job at it. However, thinking that because you are a teacher you ALWAYS know best and don't have to look at the whole story - that's not so good. The better question on the test would have been 'Things which could be hot.' LOL! "Could be" might have been beyond the ability of a kid that age. Besides, if placed in the right environment very few things would not fall under that definition. An exception would be things that simply don't exist when hot (ice comes to mind). Note DS turned 41yo a few weeks ago so it is not lime I can test this assertion. And off tbe rails the discussion went again

Messed up country you live in. *Fixed.* it is the one point of agreement i have with the right wingers. of course, we differ as to WHY it is the case. I sent the new GI Doctor a message Friday afternoon. Lo and behold, she called me herself today! And apologized for not calling me Friday, but she’d left early to spend time with her husband and children since it was Good Friday. Color me amazed. I was so appreciative that someone is FINALLY taking me serious, talking to me like I’m a real human being, and trying to help me, I almost cried lol. She mentioned the diverticulosis herself, but doesn’t think that’s what’s causing my issues, due to some of the tests I’ve had done. She’s going to call in a prescription to help with the cramping, and if it doesn’t help, I am to let her know. Glad to hear you are finally getting some help.

I don't get it. My local evangelical talked about how his mom asked if everyone would be out and about over this in NJ? No, what for? and then proceeded to say why hadn't they done anything about Joe Biden? ... I ignored that nonsense and just repeated that this was about the cover up and documents plus its easy to make a profit if you always stiff your vendors.
No, it's not if his 6 (7?) bankruptcies are anything to go by. You have to give the man his due: he is so bad at business that he is in a (loser) class all by himself

A lot of scams use Bitcoin ATMS now. The victim withdraws cash and then deposits it into a Bitcoin ATM in the criminal's account . I googled Bitcoin ATM near me, and was shocked to see how many there were in my relatively unpopulated area. I think the authorities are working to shut as many as possible down. Live and learn. I had never even heard of bitcoin ATMs so I googled the same you did and there are at least a dozen. Oh well, now I know. I don't really understand bitccoin so I won't deal with it and I can just forget that information again.

But it shouldn't if you really think about it. Just look at how well Repubs have succeeded in twisting the meaning of words. If I had a dime for every person they have convinced that a feminist is a man-hater I would, from that money alone, be a multi millionaire. On abortion it is the same thing where a clump of cells smaller than the size of a tic tac is an unborn person anf on, and on, and on. They are actually very good at the war on (as i redefining the meaning of ) words and macho bullshitters are presented as strong independent protectors. The Prince charming coming to rescue us " poor women" on their white horses - gun toting and all. #depressing #truethat

the ONLY thing i find saddening is that women seem to find that macho bullshit appealing.
note that i did not use the word surprising. But it shouldn't if you really think about it. Just look at how well Repubs have succeeded in twisting the meaning of words. You support frightening children? Surprises me, but hey what do I know.Maybe not as much as you think since you automatically equate telling children about something with scaring them or maybe you feel that only principals and/or teachers know what scares children? Though the school principal on this board disagrees with you...

There's an opposite ruling by a WA judge: linkI saw that this morning, that's fantastic. my concern last night still stands, though - if this one judge can halt an FDA approval of this med, then any med is fair game. I don't like the precedent this sets. and sadly I don't trust the current SC, where this is headed, as far as I can throw it.
