I am seeing a new tablet in my near future. The one I have works perfectly fine but the battery is cr*pping out pretty fast. Fortunately the Fire tablet isn't terribly expensive but I hate the electronic waste replacing it creates.

If you want songs I hate wait until TG when the Christmas songs start blasting without let up. At the moment I am neutral about them but it takes just a few days until radio is replaced by CDs LOL.

There was one person who objected to it because she claimed it wasn’t educational and it ‘indoctrinated’ kids. ONE person. The other parents should take up a collection to pay for the first semester of school for her kids at one of those segregated religious schools they have down here in the South, where the white kids can be safely protected from the coloreds while they get a shitty education. And that is the scariest part of all the idiocy that we are seeing at the moment. Just ONE person can cause something to be banned. It used to be that people would step back if a crackpot like this opened his/her mouths and they would see how overboard this statement really is. Today it seems that in many areas people hear a protest like this and FOMO strikes without any evaluation to its validity: like OMG I could have been the first to protest. Let's be the first in "approving" this protest though... To paraphrase a famous poem First they came for the journalist and we said too little Then they came for the medical scientist and we fought a bit but decided we needed to get along Now they are coming after public education and we look away When the country's decline will be irreversible who will be left to speak up for it?

1300sqf living alone. Cleaning lady comes once a month to give everything a good scrubbing down. I pay her $105/session. As far as I am concerned her work is priceless as I hate cleaning and things would not get cleaned as well as they should without her! If/when I ever get to the point that my budget is getting really tight she would be among the last of my luxuries I am willing to give up.

1) microwave is over the stove. This works well in my tiny kitchen: while I am not particularly tall at just a smidgen under 5'7" I'm the average height for Dutch women and that is tall enough for my microwave 2) no plastic cover, I use paper towels to contain potential splatters 3) two sons but they live on different continents so I can't really blame them for anything and expect to be believed 4) I clean up big-ish messes right away. The cleaning fairy gives it a thorough clean when she is here

Pretty much any country music. DH likes to listen to that channel and it's the only channel we get through Western Nebraska and most of Eastern Colorado. By the time we reach Estes Park I want to rip his radio out. Country music is forbidden in my car. I smacked his hand when he tried to change my radio from my preferred station. . Listening to it is cruel and unusual punishment. I don't think I would go on a road trip if that was required Oh come one you two. Willy Nelson's "Still not dead" is a hoot. Not that that makes up for all the bad stuff out there but you have to admit there are exceptions.

DS just called, crying and panicking. He had an MRI a few days ago, and now his doctor wants to see him immediately, tomorrow. His doctor works in the oncology department, and DS is freaking out. "If I have cancer, I'll kill myself!!' Nothing I say calms him down.

I have managed to sift the litter box. The trash this week is not going farther than the garage. I don't think I can walk out there and back without fainting. Gatorade is my best friend. Yes, I am still sick. Liked not because you are sick but because you are doing what you can despite being sick. That is true persistence

Couple of short bursts of energy this weekend (I don't have a clue what it is with weekends considering that I am retired) has resulted in one small drawer being emptied out a d two larger ones cleaned up with half of the contents gone. Yesterday I attacked the pi!e of old paperwork and got rid of ~ one foot of that. And today the "biggie". DS2 used to have a drop leaf kind of table in...Singapore. It really is a nice table which is attached to a wall and, when down just has an 8 inch shelf but up it is a half circle of about 1 meter. Today I dragged it out of the storage area after 26 years of not being used and set it at the street for the annual cleanup action. Since it was such a nice item it hurt a bit to do so. However, I drove it to the street and went to the grocery store. When I came back it was gone - I am happy to say it seems to have found a new home All in all a good weekend

I needed a few items so I went to the grocery store. The "big" news: it was the first time since early 2020 that only one other person, aside from me, was masked up. No comments or strange looks from the other shoppers though, so that is good as I am now so used to the masks that it has become a habit even though I don't really feel like there is any danger when I don't mask. I like the casual acceptance of mask/no mask here

So that is not quite working out the way I intended. I have told before about the yarn stash I discovered that I had completely forgotten about and how I decided to make it into a lap throw. (thanks for reminding me that crocheting is relaxing giramomma). Since it is very bold variegated yarn I decided to make 7" blocks which will be joined in black to tone it down a bit. So today during my breakfast/dinner zoom with DS2 and family I mentioned what I had been doing and DGS1's ears perked up. He needed to see what I had done and he loved it. One guess who again will not be able to travel with just the one suitcase come December. That thing will need to go into a duffel bag and until then it will reside inmy guestroom. So much for speeding up my decluttering. Oh and I may or may not have referred to myself as a "busy, happy, hooker" - very soon I will have to start being careful saying such things as the little ones will start to get things like that and their parents won't think it is funny anymore when oma says such things

Isn't it illegal to sell alcohol to the under 21yo crowd? So what minors is Budweiser marketing to while using a transgender woman? Cruz needs to stop wasting taxpayer money with this nonsense. A side goal would be to create identification with the brand in future consumers. Also, as shocking as this might be, plenty of kids are able to buy it before they turn 21. However, I don't see this ad campaign as targeting minors improperly. I know that people under 21 are able to buy beer where controls are not well enforced. However, for the "child as target audience" argument to hold, Ted would have to make a believable case that the ads are meant to break existing laws. And if he tries do do that what is the use of creating more laws and/or regulations since the existing ones are (in his opinion) failing?

Thanks for the Tink and Frog explanations. Wallflower plug refills are what Bath & Body Works calls their scent refill things that are air fresheners. And DH is wrong - I don't have ALL the fragrances they sell Proof it to him: go out and buy all the missing fragrances. That'll teach him not to doubt you again or worse to make false accusations

it's not just Disney of course. every corporation doing business in the state is thinking about it's ability to conduct business as it sees fit. i would certainly never locate there, so long as DeSantis runs the place. Even if he is voted out of office next election I would be very leery of relocating to a state that voted him in office. It would take at least a landslide loss for me as a business to risk relocating there

She was required to be naked or in a bikini or daisy dukes while working during a zoom meeting. Explain this to me. Is she doing some kind of administrative work naked? Or is she doing straight up porn shows? In which case why is she upset about being naked or in a bikini? And if she was basically a hooker, what's the thing about non consensual sex? Isn't that rape? Did she not agree to sell him sex or just not on those occasions. And what about this characterization of Rudy being at the height of his power in 2019? He had the melting hairspray before that. He was a proven idiot long before that. I do not doubt this is true, and I hope she wins if for no better reason than Rudy is a disgusting pig who should suffer. But this is still crazy. in many ways, the details of Rudy's private/business life are more interesting than this case. for example, selling pardons for $2M is VERY interesting to me, as it should be to EVERYONE on this board. I read that and she included that trump was involved in this deal according to Guiliani. Unfortunately she does not have anything to back that up. More is the pity as it is 99.999999% in keeping with what I expect the Loser to have done.

Nervous tonight. Will get second infusion treatment tomorrow. A blood test may show some efficacy in shrinking the tumor. Right now I’m feeling well. My appetite has returned but don’t know how I’ll respond after treatment Jerseyguy still hasn’t received the med to start treatment for the CLL chronic lymphocytic leukemia. The med approval is stuck in insurance limbo. The Catholic Church apparently doesn’t recognize limbo anymore . But insurance companies firmly approve of this doctrine. I am keeping you in my mind and sending you and Jerseyguy healing thoughts

Flashback to endless meetings: ITAR training every two years for each foreign contract separately. Since it takes more than 2 years to build a satellite that was at least twice for each contract. After launch that went on for another 15+ years because of on-orbit support. It started out with a review/customer. Fortunately after a lot of moaning and groaning from the OOS group and me they finally decided to give one review for all on-orbit satellites with a separate packet for each customer. And then there was the annual FCPA Review - this had a completely different group of people affected but "lucky me" got to join in for that as well.. Writing this all down I realize why I do NOT miss work

Derry Girls is soooo funny Especially if you’ve gone to Catholic school with nuns Now I might have to watch it. Catholic girls school through secondary school. I had to go to college to get away from that and to have any boys in the same classroom LOL

There was a scorpion in my bathtub this morning. It's going to be one of those days. . I don't mind creepy crawleys in general (whining flying vampires is something else) but this seems to call for a flame thrower or its equivalent!

If you have a dream, go for it, you're young enough to try it & if you fail you have plenty of time for a course correction. You're in your 20s, you don't have to think like you're in your 30s, yet. but also don't let getting older stop you from following your dreams. You will have to be more circumspect about what and how you do things with growing responsibilities but never stop dreaming

Looking for a Sony Walkman type cassette player - anyone have any thoughts of where I might find one online? I have some cassettes I'd like to listen to while working around the house or walking, etc. I found one in a drawer last week. Let me try if it still works and you can have it. It will fit in one of those small fixed rate mail boxes ETA: I can hear it still turns but I have no tapes to test it. I do know that the radio part still works so the audio is still going but the tape reading, who knows. PM me if you want it. If not I'll just put it wirh the new Goodwill collection

Bemoaning the unfairness of life. Why, oh why should a person who started to go gray at age 18 (I am in my early 70s now so more than half a CENTURY ago) and white haired have every hair on her legs still be black. The least those hairs could have done is turn white as well thereby reducing the need to shave, but noooooo.... Unfair I tell you! Before anyone tells me that this is not all that much of an issue in the big picture of life: I know that. I just needed to get the grousing out of my system

I'm not the biggest fan of HR but in the case of trying to apply for FMLA they are the best resource. Both you and the company can get in trouble if it's not done right. This is one of the few times your interests and HR align. A SO would not be able to help. You are not in a coma or any situation where you medically cannot advocate for yourself. You just don't want to. HR is only going to talk to you it's a confidential issue. If the company has an EAP I would take advantage of that too. They can help connect you with resources you may need. I do not have the strength to advocate for myself right now except in short bursts. Its not about want, is about years of experience how things go south during periods like this trying to discuss with HR and or bosses. I can type better sometimes than I can talk on the phone. Plus, you don't see all the stuff I erase or choose not to post. Just out of curiosity but would this a follow-up talk on FMLA your HR wanted to have a few weeks ago? At the time you were a bit undecided on whether to contact them at all so maybe that talk did not happen at all? If the latter is the case you better contact them asap. Ignoring their requests repeatedly might lead to a situation where you won't have to worry about the FMLA rules as you won't have a job to apply them to. I think the best thing you can do is what someone else said: talk to them, write everything down, and follow up with an email in which you put all your take-aways/understanding of the call and ask them to let you know if you misunderstood anything.

... But not good news on my glasses, they discontinued the frame, so I have to get a new set. These are older and I can't see as good. I had to change docs, my clinic closed, darn. So they have to transfer the records. And I can't get in to see a doc there till Feb so I made an appointment. Going to see what their prices are like, may get something beside Silouettes this time. ... It is barely May! That is like an entire pregnancy away! And people counter Medicare for all with "yea, but waiting lists".My goodness. Can you try whether you can find an eye doctor near your other house in the xum.er when you plan to be there again? You might not have any luck since that is quite soon but it won't hurt to check.

I may or may not be AI considering that I am sitting in my car avoiding going up to the dentist 12 minutes before my appointment. It is the "I" part that is doubtful. I have such an irrational fear of the dentist I barely slept a wink.
