I'm worrying about hubs test this coming Friday. I'm going with him and hope to hear the results that day and when his surgery will be.
I think he is getting concerned too. He told the election person he can't work this year because of upcoming surgery but nothing more.
And I'm going to have to tell the renter we are not selling him that property on payments. When we put it up for sale, if he wants to buy it he can go like anyone else, we are not breaking apiece of the property off to sell. I tole hubs don't even consider it and he or I will be into it. We need the money from this stuff, all we can get to help us buy a place out there and move. I'm tired of hearing about it.
I turned the furnace up tonight to 71 and finally heard it run a few minutes. It's 47 out already and is to get in the 30's at night soon. So I think it's time.
Goodnight all, way past my bedtime, it's 2ish.

And I remembered to clean out my dishwasher filter. I just don't remember often, it wasn't to bad this time, so that's good.

It's cold here, was 49 this morning and now 53.
We are running to town and seeing about exchanging her coat. Of course, the one I got for me DD likes better. I didn't want us to look like twins. Maybe we need to go up to the Super Walmart and find her one slightly different.
We are ready except for me putting makeup on. So need to get busy so we can go.
I hate buying more coats and we have closets full, but XL and she needs a small and me medium. Most of them are Lands End, but at least I bought them on sale.
So need to go pretty soon.

Yes, Walk, we went through that with my mom's, her basis was our basis, now that I think about it. And that was a house and 25 acres that cost $3k when they bought it.
We sold the house off when she was alive and that went to assisted living. I kept the 25 acres until 2012 when we bought this house, sold it for $160k and yep we paid a potfull of taxes. They did change it to $30k, don't remember why now. Seems like that was the value when she had signed it over to me or something, been a long time ago.
But oh yes, that will be checked thoroughly.

In Indiana, you cannot have a government pension from VA and medicaid. We had to stop the "pension" and it was immediate. She did get it for help in assisted living, at that time she was not on medicaid, it helped her live there. It is a waltz and balancing act for sure to get it all to come together. I had VA send a letter saying she could not have both. But they told me not to worry, she could not be kicked out since she was there until it was all resolved. We spent down her remaining money on 2 months care and the VA money that kept coming in was deposited monthly to the Miller Trust account.
I know its time consuming and a pain in the ass but you will get there.

I'm not cashing mine in. Most have something like 15 years or less to go. They can make a lot of bucks yet.

I think this is a good idea, actually. Buy it just in his name? Or buy it in your and DH's names and file a transfer on death instrument so he will inherit it without fuss when you are both gone? Consider capital gains implications for him, and Medicaid protection for you.
Yes, we are thinking of doing that. he was saying later we could move in his smaller house and they into ours. His dad did that, he just had on it, they could have the right to live it until their death. And it has worked out well. We have not sold it yet so have to read up for Indiana and see what we will owe.
But wondering why we couldn't just gift it to him or a similar one. It is about $700k, that one is above what we planned to spend, so have to think about it.
What I have to read up on if he sells it later, will the whole amount be taxable to him on proceeds since he would have no money in it or how does that work?? I know how it works if he inherits it. But not sure what his basis would be the other way. We have that to deal with it on his folks and grandmas house yet. We bought out his brothers half on his folks and grandmas houses. We didn't even know they were in the boys names when we were getting ready to buy them, so only had to buy half of them.

Or have solar panels.
I bought a cover for the window AC in Washington for about $30, it has an insulated cover for the inside and a cover for the outside with a strap around it to keep it on. I think it will work pretty good, but I want hubs to take it out.

I'm reluctant to get DD the RSV shot, my arm is still sore, hubs had no reaction. I sure did and I'm concerned for her.
We are off to get our blood work, so will have breakfast or lunch after that.
I than need to get home and keep working on getting rid of stuff here.
Next is the paper shredder, we don't use it rarely and its taking up space.
Son is wanting us to buy a really nice house by him, he said he could take it later and sell his. I don't know, it so expensive, but it definitely is nice. He said we might as well have a nice home to live in. I said if we do that, we can't help him, he said that is no problem. But it will likely be gone by the time we get ready to buy.
We are getting the cart before the horse, need to have patience, things are moving faster than we expected so hoping it continues.

I'm awake again at 4AM, this is for the birds. Why am I doing this? I don't like it at all and I have rolled and tossed again. Something must be bothering me, probably my unconscious self worrying about hubs. And I know I am.
Since we are done with the house and PO, hubs has been around more, so I'm enjoying that with him. I so hope he will be around for a long time.
I was a good cook, but that sure hasn't been the case of late. Need to somehow do better in that regard too.
Ok, will read for awhile, just finished a book, couldn't stay awake last night to finish so just did. Was in bed by midnight.

A guy goes into a bar, there's a robot bartender. The robot says, "What will you have?" The guy says, "Martini." The robot brings back the best martini ever and says to the man, "What's your IQ?" The guy says, "168." The robot then proceeds to talk about physics, space exploration, and medical technology. The guy leaves, but he is curious. So he goes back into the bar. The robot bartender says, "What will you have?" The guy says, "Martini." Again, the robot makes a great martini gives it to the man and says, "What's your IQ?" The guy says, "100." The robot then starts to talk about NASCAR, Budweiser, and John Deere tractors. The guy leaves but finds it very interesting, so he thinks he will try it one more time. He goes back into the bar. The robot says, "What will you have?" The guy says, "Martini," and the robot brings him another great martini. The robot then says, "What's your IQ?" The guy says, "Uh, about 50." The robot leans in real close and says, "Isn’t it terrible the way Biden stole the election?"

The far right and fox news will never hear this stuff. So their listeners think this treasonous piece of (&(*^$@@## crap is their god.
However, I think he has fallen a bit since he didn't pay for attorneys or bail to get the Jan 6 bunches out of jail. Remember when he told his violent supporters beat them up I will pay for your fines. Yeah baby, that worked well.
Hubs said he is telling people they are building a trump wing to the federal prison in Terre Haute, Ind. It has some very bad people in it, like some of the middle eastern guys. I have never heard of anyone escaping from it. Not a place you want to be. We have lost a lot of friends over that piece of trash and the people here that support him. I sure hope we end up moving out of this red state, we do not fit here nor do other dems.
I don't hate very many people, but I do make an exception for the antichrist and we know who that is.

We pay about $930 a month for premiums and I don't know what the supplement increases will be yet this year. We didn't figure it would be that much a month till much later, but it is. So my SS keeps going down, hubs is high enough he is keeping up and passing the new deductions but not me. I can only imagine if I had to live on it. But than I suppose I could get medicare and medicaid at no cost. I told hubs its sad I worked over 35 years or so and not getting much. But I did part of it to myself by taking it at 62, lost 25%, that was stupid.
I am getting tired of trying to cook good food. I had some pork tenderloin, fried potatoes, steamed carrots, and fresh green beans. The beans and carrots were good but the meat and potatoes tasted off, we are thinking the last avocado oil I got has an off taste, hubs said just use corn oil. I've never gotten this oil before that was not good. Then I fixed a glass of koolaid from the individual serving packs and hubs said taste that, it too tastes funny. What is going on with this crappy stuff anymore, I'm guessing old. And the stuff is not considered stale dated.
we received the paperwork on the post office, so we signed and got it notarized and to the box for a 3:30 pickup so that's good. I paid $16k for it 7 years ago, rented for 7 years. Sold for $55k and will receive $52,800 for it. So not a bad return on investments always had a positive cash flow but didn't make big bucks. Would have done well in the coming year, but that's ok, it's a done deal. The other house sold full price so $74900, paid $30k, rented for 8 years with positive flow. Did spend on a new furnace and AC plus water heater and some appliances, plus flooring. Still we did little to it those years. But realtor fee on this one, capital gains, and tax on recapture of depreciation. Kind of disappointing by the time you are done.
The house will close within 30 days.
I'm tired so its time for this to happen. I think hubs is ready too.

I could be better at tech, I'm just not interested but I have had to do better lately and need to get back in the grove. I like some of the things new software does but it keeps changing and changing and sometimes not for the better. I just got tired trying to keep up with it. But going to need to again if we are going to keep using it and everything is going more and more to it, like it or not.

I can't believe the temps we have had here, in the 80's and some evenings 88. Hubs says the heat is over, its raining today but I wonder. The farmers have been working hard but this is likely going to stop them for awhile or they will be drying grain. That is expensive. They have not harvested the fields around us yet. But they are picking pumpkins north of us.
They take old school buses here and cut most of the windows out of them. Then they use them when picking watermelon and pumpkins, they load them to the windows. Sometimes when they take the curves fast you will see smashed melons and pumpkins all over the roads. I believe they do cantaloupe differently as they are more fragile, they load them in the big cardboard boxes. Lots of stuff like that is shipped out of this area. Also sweet corn, they raise lots of it here too. And apple orchards are around here too.
We have truck gardens around here still but a lot of the old guys that did them are dying off and they are labor intensive so lots of young family members no longer want to do them. One of hubs friends told him its his last year. He has had his wife, DIL's and grandkids helping him and I'm pretty sure they don't want to. He was injured a few years back, his tractor ran over him and they didn't think he would live, but he made it so its past time. But we will miss him, he had his own special place on the town square where he sat up every summer. Things are changing here too.
Well off on a tangent this morning. Also I have a big cat leaning on my legs. He is our huge one and getting friendlier, DD could hardly keep him out of the bathtub when she was taking a bath the other morning. Hubs says he gets in the shower with him when he is drying off. Smoke is the one that does that with me. But big boy is getting way friendlier with me too. I just brushed him good, next is his nail trim. He is so big, I think he has a hard time getting certain areas of his back.
I need to get busy, vac my car out and start on paperwork for DD. We are supposed to get a fedex package to sign for the post office sale to return to them Monday for a closing that day, hope so. Sometimes things here are late.
They must have the poor migrant workers picking pumpkins in the rain today, the buses are still going by, its only 67 out so that would be miserable. I guess they have no choice if they are to get them to the stores on time for Halloween.

I went to bed at 1AM, slept till 3 than rolled and tossed till after 5. I finally gave up and got up. I'm still up but getting tired, I had a cup of coffee, decaf. Hubs said go get DD's blood work, her shot, and breakfast, really, because I'm up doesn't mean I'm functional.
I am NOT a morning person so what is wrong with this picture?

Hubs read that the connector on the camera in the trunk can be loose. First thing he has tried is a wire tie on it to fasten it, he said if that doesn't work there are some other fixes he can try.
Today when driving I put it in reverse when in parking lots several times and it has worked. I'm like him it also appeared brighter. I went through the carwash also and it still worked. So here's hoping. It had one new dash system replaced when under warranty so it failed once already. If I never had one it wouldn't matter but once you get used to them its aggravating when they don't work.
I went to TJ Max today and the clothes were just not good. I really wonder if manufacturers are making some crummy knock offs of good brands for them. The purses were nice and some coats. I told hubs I hate to buy new coats but ours are all way to big and we have really nice ones. I likely will break down and buy one each for DD and I on sale. I mean they are XL and Large, DD is in a small and I can wear medium. So maybe I can get buy with a Large, but DD will be lost in those we have.

Drama, on the inheritance issue don't worry about what is to happen. She does not have the house or money and its going to take time for that to play out. Each state has a procedure for inheritance if an individual dies intestate. If she is still living and inherits it, they will determine at that time what needs to be done. Might be the same as now, when the house is sold her share being used for care till its gone. and I'm guessing here, but in the here and now she doesn't have it so don't worry about that part now. That will not be part of her application. Please don't overthink this right now.

I talk to my son about it and he understands. He doesn't say much, but he knows he is due to get a nice sum of money. DIL will not listen to me at all. I tell her she needs to know in case something happens to son. She does not want to talk about people dying. Not helpful at all. She knows nothing about taxes, real estate, estate planning, nothing, sigh.

Hubs is being optimistic that we can spend about $500k for a house in Washington, depends on what our last rental will sell for and this house of course. And we can sell the mobile up there also, we have fixed it up so should do well on that sale when the time comes. Than still give some money to son to pay on his house. Maybe not the full amount but a chunk. I'm not sure I want to spend that much when we already have a place to live up there in a nice community.
Houses in good condition are selling well here. I thought they would. I am guessing we can get near $100k for his folks house. We have to put in 2 new garage doors, a walk in door and replace 2 of the windows. But it is a block garage, house and garage has metal roofs and the house is bedford stone. We put a new kitchen in it some time ago. It could use a new window in the laundry room, the rest are new.
I think one of the new carpets we put in is ruined. The renters stupid brother brought in parts off a motorcycle to work on, on the carpet!!! On new carpet, he ended up running his brother off, he was also a disruption to the neighbors.
So far things are moving along nicely, can't sell anymore houses this year, taxes already high I think, and an issue I fear, and medicare premiums in 2 years.

Feel better this morning but the arm where he gave me the shot still hurts, its still warm and a bit swollen, and sore up the neck on that side, hoping that goes away by tomorrow. Hubs got the pneumonia and RSV and he is fine.
Taking DD to heart doc this afternoon, about all that is on the agenda today.
Hubs is working on my backup camera, it comes and goes like a short is in it. He thinks it might be the camera in back and if so can be replaced for a couple hundred dollars. The dealership fixed my one tire sensor that wasn't working, so get this fixed and all is good again. I sure miss a backup camera working all the time.
Hubs slept till 6 this morning, unusual for my hubs. He slept well last night, many times he tosses and turns all night.

We aren't buying much groceries just fresh things, we are working on eating out of the freezer and pantries. I want to use those stored items before they get to old.
Also DD and I don't eat much so hard to get motivated to cook. Hubs said he doesn't care, so if true won't be making the kind of meals I used to.
I am very tired tonight and still not on top of things. May not be up long much longer.
Smoke is so cute, I was trimming his nails and he was just trying to play with the clippers. He just doesn't care what you do, so his are done.

Got a call from the title company, PO is going to close Monday, they need a copy of my operating agreement for the LLC.
I'm going to fix that pizza with just cheese and mushrooms, the way I like them. Have to let the dough raise for 5 minutes.
I'm still whining about the after effects of the shot I received. Still don't feel good, sigh.

We donated all the toys in the bags to a local church down the street. They thanked us a lot, I may add some nice clothing to it.
Hubs fixed he and DD dinner, I'm not really hungry, later I might whip up one of those chef boy ar dee pizzas. But this head ache has me not so happy right now.
