Alaska Air notified me I need to change my reservation outbound. I have 2 days I can use but other than flying in late or not having a nonstop flight is my only choice. One routes us to San Diego with a 1 hour time between flights. That's awfully tight, so how busy and awkward to get around is the San Diego airport?

I feel better this morning, thinking like Pink, the stress of worrying about hubs was getting to me and I did not realize it. But then he said he had been really tired the last few weeks too. I suppose it could be from all the shots we took, don't know, just glad its better. I still have a slight rash on the left side of my face but I also finished the one laundry detergent and went back to my Allergy Free All. That very well could be the reason for that, I just have troubles using different kinds of detergent. I found the other on sale, my mistake. My face is still a bit sensitive though.
Waiting for it to warm up out, its' 64 so far. Going to vacuum in here and as usual doing laundry. I don't want to wash down porches and windows if its too cold. Hubs thinks this is my last chance as its to turn cold. He trimmed around my rose bushes in the fence I didn't get to and the ditch so that is done for this year. He is fixing the leaf mulcher on the mower so I can mow the leaves as they fall. I just happened to think we better get more cat litter and water softener salts as he won't be able to lift them. Its hard for me to get the salts downstairs though I could do it if I had to.
I also need to buy him some items for clear liquids to drink Monday, we have his prep stuff. We have covered everything we can think of.
Now to feed DD and get busy.

I really like this house and not far away from sons. Of course I have to be patient as we need to sell before we can buy. But what a lot to do yet before we can do anything, lot of work ahead of us if we move.
To me the front lawn is a bit much, would have to see it in person, but think I would thin some of that back. But it has a 3 car garage for hubs. And enough room for my things with a 4th bedroom, plus a nice size kitchen. Hubs said the lawn is big enough. And actually its in a subdivision just down the street from the elementary school. Grandson could walk there is needed. That is the kind of place that is most like our house now. Not as nice, but nice enough, I like it.

Been busy today, met with the surgeon and he started to tell hubs the results of the scan. I told him I looked it up on the patient portal. I mean I was a bit perturbed by not hearing this for over a week and would have been a nervous wreck all that time.
Anyway, he went over what he is going to do, wanted to know if we had questions. I only had one, about why remove the lymph glands around there. He said with the cancer being so pervasive there wanted to go ahead and remove them and would not make any difference. He did want hubs to know some people have fluid collect there and if he did they would excise it with a needle.
Sounds like a catheter for 7 to 14 days, boy, I think that would be miserable, yuck. They are going to get him up the first day, normal, and he will stay overnight, no surprise there. They are going to have him do physical therapy, not sure when they start that, but will be doing kegel exercises, that should be interesting. But the most difficult will be keeping him from doing much from 6 to 8 weeks, I dread that.
Son called with good news, he got his physical, all was good. His psa was 1, but the doc said was good he got it and now he can watch it as he ages as he has a baseline. Also all blood work was good and he said they are doing some scans or something and also he is to get a colonoscopy, he will love that one, LOL! He told her he would love to get his tonsils out and refer him if she can, she said its hard to get done. She examined him and asked him if they are always that big, he said yep and bigger when he gets sick and that is all the time. Was same with me. He also decided to keep his insurance this year as DIL is also going and has some issues. He is also going to see if he can go on a low dose of ozempic to help him control his eating. He said he asked about his stomach and she said some guys just carry fat there. It's up high and looks odd, I would not think that is good for his heart. He is not really fat anywhere else.
Sounds like DIL has fibroids and like he said could mean surgery, so decided not to change it. He said they also gave him about 7 shots and caught him up on a lot of those. I am so happy he went, they have not been taking care of themselves very well for awhile. I think hubs having issues kind of woke them up too.
So hubs was caught in time and son is doing well. What a relief that is. I want him to be around for his son, as he has noone but us that could step in to help. So things are looking good for our little family.

I think that is the way the funeral expenses are paid. My MIL had the same. An insurance policy that the money was invested in so it could grow. Hers was $1200 short in paying for her funeral so we had to pay that. I believe they do it that way so if the funeral home closes, they are not actually holding the money and you go to the insurance company for payment.
The way funeral expenses are going up there likely won't be extra money. And we just reported it, it was not counted as an asset, but this is Indiana. We are thinking of doing the same for DD.
We already have her gravesite and headstone but have not set aside money for her funeral and are thinking of doing so.

Time for me to go to bed. Not doing anything, just sitting here reading articles on the internet and doing a bit of crossword puzzles. It's just quiet in here and nice. Need to get up at 8 in the morning so I can go with hubs to see the surgeon.

I found this. I buy Boars Head sweet slice and its uncured ham.
What Is Curing? Curing is an age-old technique using salt and other ingredients to treat foods, usually meat, to flavor and preserve it. Removing moisture, which creates an environment in which harmful bacteria can thrive, is a major way curing preserves meats. Curing can be used together with other processes, like smoking and cooking, to further preserve and flavor foods.
While curing historically relied on naturally occurring ingredients, synthetic versions of chemicals like nitrates and nitrites have become more popular over the last 100 years. These synthetics are readily available, work faster and are superior at preserving the color of cured meats.
What Is Uncured Ham? Hams labeled as “uncured” or “free of nitrates and nitrites” are, confusingly, still cured. They are salted to remove moisture, and almost always contain ingredients like celery or beet extracts that are a source of naturally occurring nitrates. They may also contain flavorings like sugar, honey and spices and may be smoked or cooked.
So if “uncured” hams are actually cured, why the disconnect? A USDA labeling law requires meats processed without synthetic nitrates and nitrites to be labeled as uncured and/or free of these chemicals.
What’s the Danger of Nitrates In Ham? In meats, nitrates can lead to the formation of compounds called nitrosomes, a known carcinogen. Citing mounting scientific evidence, this led the World Health Organization in 2015 to classify processed meats (including ham) as Category 1 carcinogen to humans.
Are Uncured Hams Healthier Than Cured Hams? While many people prefer the idea of ham processed with naturally occurring plant-based ingredients, there is no evidence that these nitrates are safer than synthetic ones. In fact, many groups, including the Center for Science and Public Interest and Consumer Reports, have lobbied for the USDA to change its labeling requirements, citing the potential to mislead consumers.
Read labels on hams carefully and make your own choice about cured versus uncured products. Look in ingredients lists for natural sources of nitrates like celery juice, celery powder or beet extracts, and also wording like “No nitrates or nitrites added except those naturally occurring in celery powder.” The good news is that both cured and uncured hams, whether spiral-cut or deli-sliced, are delicious, easy to prepare and can be cooked or layered into sandwiches interchangeably.

I'm still wondering if I'm getting shingles. I'm sure I will know in a day or two if a rash develops like the pictures. I've had the vaccines so if so, maybe it won't be much.
The left side of my face has a strip that has a slight rash and I have a headache, also fatigued. But I just had blood work a week ago and checked and everything is right on. Blood work perfect, respiration, heart beat and all so pointless to go to the doc. About all I can say is I don't feel good.
I'm not doing much, today sat around all day and napped a bit so that was good. Didn't really cook, just heated up some stuff and did some laundry, so nothing vigorous though I was planning on doing some work outside. Hubs went to town and to the grocer, took mail to the post office for me, took out the trash. He also cleaned and painted the boat trailer. He ordered some neat decals for the back of his truck that says F-150, and put those on today, really looks sharp on it. He is going to go crazy having to sit around for 4 to 6 weeks poor guy.
If I'm coming down with something it will rear its ugly head soon. Just as long as its not the same day as hubs surgery.
Yesterday evening, I sorted through lots of paperwork, pitched a bunch, now I'm ready to start working on recons for our LLC.
I'm going with hubs to meet with the surgeon in the morning, his last visit with him. His surgery is going to be robotically, don't know how that works, they said almost all theirs are done that way now. I assume they mean for prostrate cancer.

Not right now, the tornado took it out and they are just starting to rebuild it. It's not my tree belongs to the neighbors. He said people used to come and get some, honestly, I think they are to lazy to do so. This is my 3rd trip down and I'm embarrassed to ask again. I got 2 5 gallon buckets and this time a smaller bucket. Best crop I've seen in the 11 years we have lived here. Just beautiful fruit.
We sure are enjoying them. His wife put up some apple butter but her health isn't real good now, she is a year older than me. I think she made some pies too.
They would give them to anyone that asked and I imagine everyone around here knows that.

I saved enough calories today to eat rolls. I'm back to eating carefully so every few days I can have something I want while also eating healthy. Tomorrow we may have cauliflower and carrots and some type of meat. That way DD gets something she really likes too. I try to at least everyother day have some good food.
We each had a peeled apple this morning from our neighbors tree. They are big and so sweet, these had all fallen off the tree so good and ripe. The best I have eaten in many a year. I could have gotten a bunch of pears too but didn't. They have hundreds of them on the tree and in the yard. Such a waste.

Hubs is always saying he doesn't care what we have to eat when I ask. I HATE that. So tonight, DD had spaghetti O's, I had ramen chicken noodle, and he had lunch meat sandwiches. And yes, our luncheon meat is Boars Head too. I just cannot eat the slimely lunch meat other outfits make.
Our neighbor raises turkeys for Boars Head lunch meat and his barns and everything are spotless. So maybe others produce him like too. It's no wonder its so good.
I let rhodes rolls raise today and just baked them. Last time I had them not good, these sure our. So I guess our dessert is some yeast rolls, yummy.
Son does have his wife and son on his family plan for insurance.

Weltz, he has insurance available that other government employees have available far as I know.
I am just happy he is getting a total physical today, he is 54, still smokes, and I think he needs it. Hope they really do a good one, I worry about him.

Hubs goes to the grocery for me, sometimes. He will be in town a lot of days when I don't go anywhere so he will pick up what we need and sometimes some snacks he wants. He knows what groceries cost and he knows I have quit buying a lot of junk food. We keep things for snacks like raisons, nuts, and fresh fruit. Sometimes we get chips and such but used to be every trip, no longer, costs to much. Plus we just don't need it.
We do stock up on meat from Odon, its the best and the best price also. But hubs needs to get a loyalty card to use as they do have good sales on things.
have to go, have a big tiger cat on my lap.

Weltz, I'm not sure I can explain sons position. In the US a lot of duties for the military is now done by civilians and those civilians are in the DOD group and there are even a lot more that are contractors for the DOD and he works with them too. He works with national guard units and other units on computer set ups, new equipment related to computer implementation, and probably other things I'm not aware of. One year it required him to go on a 6 month deployment in the middle east, seems like about 3 years ago, don't remember for sure. There are 5 guys that have his same position in the US, the country is divided up and each one is over certain areas. His includes Hawaii and Korea, so the middle east too. I don't remember if he was in NY or in Washington when he deployed there. His office is on a military base even though he also works out of his home several days a week. So no, he is no longer active duty, but yes he is attached to the military if that makes sense. If he goes in an area where there are active duty people he wears a uniform like them, but it has a different designation on the front. His "rank" would be equal to a major or such I think he said. The only people that are knowledgeable enough to do these jobs are former military, its really a narrow type of experience needed and far as I know, noone but exmilitary have these jobs. And yes he has a lot of communication with active duty officers in his work. And I can't remember if he is furnished with a sidearm or not, we don't talk about a lot of stuff he does, he can't. So what I know is mostly superficial. He came close to deploying quite a few times when in NY, but ended up not having to go. I said aren't you getting kind of old. He said there are 70 year old guys there as long as they pass their physicals. Maybe that explains it a little better.

We also set up the patient portal at the local hospital. Hubs had a ton of blood work done this morning. The results are already available, so looked through those. He had some high values in a few areas but nothing that was to far out of the norms. However, since July his PSA had gone up .10, small. But the norm is 1 to 4 and in 2021 his was 3.4 and now is 11.7, to me says more cancer involvement since July was 11.6 and Sept was 11.7.
We finally decided the doc didn't miss him in 2022 that was when everything was shut down because of covid.
I like being able to see that, of course I realize I could misinterpret some results as I have to look up a lot of meanings of words and sentences. But I can understand a lot of it.
I intended to get up and cut down the hostas by the house and clean that up and wash down the front porch and clean my windows. Not today, its been raining and is 57, so not a good day to be cleaning in landscaping. I need to check the weather and see if its going to warm up a bit so I can do that and the back porch too.

I like that condo Mitch and a decent price. You are right the prices there are crazy high.
We go back and forth about buying a different place up there later after we sell here or just living in it. It just doesn't fit our needs. We can probably add a shed and expand the storage building but still wouldn't own the land. And I hate to admit it I think we are both a little bit of snobs anymore. It's very clean, but modulars and trailers. Yes, they are fixed up nicely and the place is super clean, but, its still a trailer.
We have plenty of time to decide. yet.
I got into the patient portal at the hospital complex where hubs is going. I read through the reports and it stated the cancer has not metatasized, and is not in his lymph nodes or glands so that makes me feel so much better. Why haven't they told us this? He does have an appointment with the surgeon Friday so maybe he will. Still its cancer and says it has more on his left side than the right in the tumor I suppose. I'm just hoping it has been caught early enough. He has some elevated labs but nothing crazy high. And as we know his blood type is O and the other stuff is negative.
Son called tonight and he was relieved. Also he said tomorrow he has a full physical scheduled, I'm glad he is doing this, he needs to.
His dad asked him if he had orders to go to the Middle East yet, and he said no nothing yet. If he did likely Israel or maybe on one of the ships. We are just hoping he doesn't have to go there, but you never know. Likely some of them well, and I think the units he is with would go there.
I'm heading for bed early again tonight. I'm just worn out and why I don't know. Hopefully not coming down with anything.

I finally got that bathroom cleaned at the trailer, it sparkles now. The one thing that turns my stomach is bathrooms of renters, pubic hair, just makes me cringe. I kept putting it off. Now hubs can use it if he has to stay there. The place is swept and vacuumed. Washed linens and curtains in the bedroom. Need to take the throw rugs back over. And I'm going to go take a bath, yuck, had rubber gloves on but still makes me sick.
Stopped at the neighbors and got more apples, nice big apples falling off the tree while there. I just picked them up off the ground. Came home and peeled one for hubs and one for me, just perfect.
I have some smoked salmon, I'm eating for dinner, dry smoked. It's 4 ozs 250 calories, may have a few crackers with it. For hubs and DD french fries and deep fried shrimp. May also have some cottage cheese with mine or some pickled beets I canned. Trying to get back on protein and not a ton of calories. No more donuts for maybe a month. I should add a salad to it.
Need to press some of our clothing, but need to take it to the basement to do so.

I look at the filth on our porches and know all that would blow in the house, if we could get a good rain here that would really help. I need to wash both porches down and clean the lawn furniture, and my grill. the other one is covered so ok.

We don't worry about it here, we don't even lock the house unless we are going on a trip. I do lock the doors at night, not out of fear, but just think its wise to do so. We leave the keys in everything here, cars, tractor, mowers, everything.
It's pretty safe here.
Also do the same in the neighborhood where our little mobile is in Washington. It's a nice area.

I slept 12 hours last night, could have slept more but hubs phone starting ringing and its in the bedroom.
The sun is shining brightly, I need to go to the trailer and clean the bathroom so hubs can turn the water off. He doesn't need anything like a leak popping up in the next few weeks he can't handle.
He is getting new tires for the boat trailer he bought and having them put on, so in the spring or early summer he can drive it up for son.
I hope today or tomorrow to wash down the front porch and wash the windows out there and across in the kitchen and garage. At least the front ones will be clean. It's 60 out so far.
Hubs got the painting done at the house we sold so hopefully they can get it reinspected and set up the closing. I can sign off on it by myself since its in the LLC.
Honestly, I could sit here and go back to sleep. I wonder what's going on with that?

We haven't had our windows open since before harvest started and I'm not now. There is nothing but dust everywhere. Our filter system takes it out of the air in here and since the heat is on, it runs at times. We are very comfy at night as I turn it down. When outside the last few days, sneezing, and eyes watering. This home is tight and system works well to keep the air clean. The filters for the system are huge and expensive, only change them twice a year.
I just don't feel up to par tonight, hopefully sleep well and feel better in the morning.

He wasn't, I use to use it. And I have 2 new sheet sets for the bed I'm washing and putting one on the night before also. And have sterile pads to put under him when he comes home. I can guarantee he and the place will be clean. Our beds are 2 xl twins on the same base so I don't sleep on his, nor he mine.
I haven't had any surgery in 20 years I suppose, so didn't do that.
I just added up my calories for the day. I'm ok, but on the edge with the 2 donuts. I don't eat anything like that unless I have eaten less of other items. But won't happen again for a long time. They were sure good though, but took up way to many calories that I could have used for more nutritious foods though.

Ok, that makes sense. But I do see a lot of guys around here and in the city in dirty clothing. I'm glad hubs is a neat clean person. I've had surgery before and just never saw anything like that.
Now I'm having some pain too on the side of my face and neck, oh joy.
That may be the reason, my realtor has to have surgery again as she has an infection in her spine surgery and it hasn't healed in a spot. Hear of another either knee or hip with infections too.

I am in disbelief.
On hubs instructions before surgery. It actually says take a bath the day before surgery and please take another bath before coming to your surgical appointment. Then it says also wear clean clothing.
Are we so dumb now they have to say such as this? I guess so.
I have felt a bit off yesterday and today. I feel what feels like a rash coming on the left side of my face and its a bit sensitive. It's not noticeable yet to anyone but me. I sure hope I'm not getting something like shingles, that's all I need. Hubs and I were going to get another shot after we found out we should just a few days ago but didn't get a chance.
That's all I need is to get sick when hubs needs help, please say it isn't so. Going to look up symptoms.
I bought 6 donuts, something we have not had in forever. I must say they were delicious, I almost fought hubs for his 2 but didn't. DD only ate 1 so hubs got 3. I think those were the best tasting ones I've eaten since I don't know when. But didn't need those so sure wouldn't need anymore.

I heard hubs laughing awhile ago, he said come here. I went in the kitchen, there is a large dutch oven on the stove and Smoke was trying to get in it. It's not that big, he gave up, hubs thought that was really funny. I told him if my mom had seen something like that she would have said, you have gotten that dirty that a cat is on your stove? I don't think she would have appreciated it, LOL! Anyway we had a chuckle.
I'm getting my shower, quit for today.
I may sort paper work after while and pay a few bills not on autopay.

We found out nothing, so can only assume it did not get in the bones or I'm guessing we would have heard. But I would like to hear that come out of someone's mouth. Hubs gets irritated, why keep asking they would tell us if it was, well, not necessarily, that stuff is compartmentalized. He is speaking with his surgeon Friday, so maybe we will still find out. They had told us he would not see the surgeon until the day of, this will be his second time of meeting with him, go figure.
And we are not pleased. He went to sign up with the person for his lab work for surgery and the guy was sick and could barely talk. He did not even have a mask on!! Even hubs went to wash his hands in the sterile hand wash stuff.
I see they are ready to vote, I wouldn't mind to see Jeffries get it. But please not Jordan.

DD and I are ready to go to her dental appointment. I have been asleep off and on for an hour or more.'Will grab her a snack and give her a glass of water to rinse her mouth while in town before she goes in.
I have crossword puzzles and a book.
It's very sunny out today with a high of 62.
Listening to some of the phony accolades for creepy Jordan, just turned down the sound.

What beautiful pictures finnime, you could likely publish a book of those gorgeous pictures.
We are up and ready to go. Hubs said DD was up at 4 taking a bath?? She isn't going but she does that sometimes.
I gave her, her pills and fed her plus cleaned her teeth once. This afternoon she is getting them cleaned and they always need brushed, so will again before we go. It's been almost a year and we do it every 6 months. I couldn't get through to the office in the city plus the billing issue, so we are now out of there and local.
No info on whether the cancer is in bone. We meet with the surgeon Friday so maybe find out more.

I understand that, my hubs is doing better so not complaining, but hubs has and at times does that. So I told him I wasn't going to pay attention. Like you say, why make something low cal and healthy than they eat cookies or half a jar of peanut butter. They have to want to do something about it and hubs finally has to a point.
